They run the fastest pace in the league at 106.3 and play the second-worst defensive efficiency. It’s, of course, just about the dream spot when stacking in DFS, and the Rockets are the beneficiaries here. Fred VanVleet is coming off some struggles against the Pelicans, but this guy has one of the highest minutes floors in the league, running right around 40 when games stay close. The assists have been a bit lumpy, but the pace and volume of this game should dictate plenty of fantasy scoring for Houston who aren’t breaking the bank in pricing. Coby White FD - $7800 DK - $7800Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 39.49 DK - 43.65 Alex Caruso FD - $5300 DK - $5400Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 31.16 DK - 32.17 The Bulls also get a great matchup here against the Hawks, who rank 27th on defense and play the fifth-fastest pace. They have a very weak defensive backcourt and teams have been able to take advantage all season here. Ever since Zach Lavine went down, Chicago has *gasp* improved and Coby White has been a big reason why, taking a much more prominent role in the offense and ticking the usage up considerably. Over the last month, he’s averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists while getting up 17 shots per game and knocking down threes at a 45% clip. It’s one of the cooler stories around, and he’s in a great spot here. One of the latter is Stephen Curry who is facing off at home against the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are the second-worst defensive team in the league and run the second-fastest pace. That’s a dream spot for a guy like Steph who is seemingly doing everything for the team right now. He had a horrible outing against the Blazers, but came back firing in the OT win over the Celtics. His FanDuel price is simply too cheap for this matchup even with some moderate blowout risk. Jaden Hardy FD - $4900 DK - $4300Opponent - HOUProj Pts FD - 34.81 DK - 39.11 Tim Hardaway Jr. FD - $6300 DK - $6100Opponent - HOUProj Pts FD - 32.93 DK - 37.43 The Mavericks are sitting Luka Doncic for Friday and are already without Kyrie Irving, Josh Green, and now Dante Exum. Plus, Seth Curry is questionable. That’s basically the entire backcourt leaving all of the minutes to Jaden Hardy, Tim Hardaway Jr, and probably A.J. Lawson (FD 3600 DK 3000). The first two will almost for sure be huge chalk plays here considering the overwhelming void left in every aspect of the game when Luka misses time. Hardy isn’t priced anywhere close to the projected opportunity and we could be looking at 90%+ ownership in cash for him. Tim Hardaway Jr. would also be in line to start and take a ton of shots as well. Sometimes the Mavericks have liked to keep him coming off the bench even in short-handed situations, though even if that was the case I think we would see a ton of minutes and looks for him regardless. Even with blowout risk, these guys are the plays seeing as how Dallas is very thin on Friday. Spider has taken 21 or more in each of the last four games, averaging 30 points a game in that stretch. He’s also dialed up the assists as well and it just essentially the offensive hub for this team right now. The price is climbing, but in a matchup against the Jazz, it isn’t all the way there and he can still be played in cash games. Fred VanVleet FD - $8400 DK - $8600Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 42.21 DK - 45.36 The Rockets get one of the best DFS matchups around, facing off against the Hawks who rank 27th in defensive efficiency and third in pace. It should be a massive uptick for the Rockets guys here and the 235 over/under is one of the highest you’ll see Houston have all year. VanVleet is a candidate to play huge minutes in close games, having run 39+ in basically every game over the last month. Few other players have that type of floor, well, on the floor. I suspect he’s a popular play on this slate because of the matchup. Considerations: Alex Caruso (FD 5300 DK 5100) could be in play here seeing as how value plays might be few and far between. Pricing has tightened on both sites and guys in this $5K range who play 30+ minutes are looking a bit more valuable now. We are going to mention other Rockets and along with them, Jalen Green (FD 6200 DK 6400) is definitely in play against the Hawks. It feels like that is going to be the case going forward and the Hawks end up in a great spot here. Even thinking about stacking these two guards on this slate would make sense, considering the matchup. The Pistons play the fifth-worst defense in the league and run a top-5 pace. That’s coming close to the sweet spot for where we want to be in cash games. Trae Young is the highlight here, and you’ll have to pay top-tier prices. But he’s averaging career-highs with 28 points and 10.8 assists a game. There isn’t as much for Dejounte Murray after that, but the 20/ 5.5 / 4.4 line with nearly two blocks + steals does get the job done on FanDuel, at least in this pricing tier. Cade Cunningham FD - $8200 DK - $8200Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 38.39 DK - 42.45 Speaking of great DFS matchups, the Pistons arguably get an even better one (than playing themselves) going the other direction with the Hawks on Monday. Atlanta has the second-worst defense in the league with the second-fastest pace. This game has the second-highest total on the slate (243.5), though Atlanta is -11 favorites, which (again) puts the Pistons in the blowout zone. But if you think there’s any way they keep things close-ish then there is upside on Cade Cunningham’s price. He’s getting up 19 shots per game, shooting better from three and getting to the line as well. The team stinks, but he’ s a DFS play for sure. Pacers - Wizards comes in with a 258.5 over/under, and you will want to have at least a piece of the action here. Of course, a big reason for this is Indiana’s pace, which ranks first in the league. And then there is Washington’s second-fastest pace. Put those together, and you are going to get an absolute track meet of a game. Tyrese Haliburton is the story here for the Pacers, averaging 26 points, 12 assists, and four rebounds on the season. His price is through the roof, but you won’t find him in a better game environment than this one. He’s a tough fade on this slate. Dennis Schröder FD - $6600 DK - $6300Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 36.75 DK - 39.73 The Hawks and Raptors played the other night, and the game went to the moon, finishing with a 135-128 Toronto win. Now they’ll run it back, and we could see a lot of scoring once again. Dennis Schröder comes in as a good DraftKings play at $6300 and is coming off running 36 minutes against Atlanta. He finished with 17 points and seven assists. The floor is high here considering the projected pace-up spot for the Raptors and he offers a way to get exposure to this game with the middle-tier salary. Other Notes There is quite a bit of injury news out there as of this writing. We will need to keep an eye out for a bunch of players moving in or out of lineups. If Zion Williamson sits, then CJ McCollum (FD 7900 DK 7600) and Brandon Ingram (FD 8400 DK 8200) would be great cash game plays once again. Similarly, if Lebron James sits again, then D'Angelo Russell (FD 6800 DK 7100) and Austin Reaves (FD 6500 DK 6700) would be value plays as well.
