Gander RV 400 Dover International Speedway - Dover, DE Track - One Mile Oval 24° of Banking After Chase Elliott picked up his, Hendrick Motorsports, and Chevrolet's first win of the season, the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to the Monster Mile for the Gander RV 400 on Sunday afternoon. Dover is a one-mile track but length is where the comparisons end in terms of other one-mile tracks in New Hampshire and Phoenix which are both flat tracks. With it being such a unique track, I will not be looking at track type this week but rather putting more weight on current track history, form, and a mix of practice/qualifying data. Speaking of qualifying, there will be no more chaos on pit road or drafting as NASCAR this week that is will be going back to single-car qualifying at all tracks except the road courses. That is big for the fantasy game as the fastest cars will more consistently be starting near the front with less place differential values on a weekly basis. This week more than any other should show us that as Dover has one of the highest correlations between starting and finishing position. From a strategy standpoint, dominator points are at the top of my list on DraftKings as we have seen at least one driver lead 100 or more laps in each of the last six races, four times with two drivers leading 100+ laps. On FanDuel, I will be focusing more on finishing position. Last Six Winners at Dover Chase Elliott(started 9th, led 11 laps) Kevin Harvick(started 2nd, led 201 laps) Kyle Busch(started 2nd, led 30 laps) Jimmie Johnson(started 14th, led 7 laps) Martin Truex Jr.(started 2nd, led 187 laps) Matt Kenseth(started 10th, led 48 laps) Track History at Dover Chase Elliott, coming off a win last week at Talladega, now returns to Dover where he has an elite 4.3 career average finish, his best at any track. He won the playoff race here last October and has...

Geico 500 Talladega Superspeedway - Talladega, AL Track - 2.66 Mile Tri-Oval Superspeedway 33° of Banking After a week off for the Easter holiday, the Monster Energy Cup Series returns to the track this weekend for the Geico 500 from Talladega Superspeedway. We usually discuss plate racing when coming to Talladega but this race will be a little different with the new rules package. NASCAR no longer uses restrictor plates and instead will be moving forward with the new tapered spacer like we have seen at all other tracks since the Daytona 500. This will make the cars 550 HP across the board and the cars will also include the air ducts at the front. What kind of racing will this produce? No one really knows at this point and teams only have two Friday practices(60 and 50 min) to figure it all out. Qualifying will be Saturday afternoon and this race is another impound race. It is different than Richmond, however, as the qualifying tech will take place before qualifying starts. This makes things so much easier from a lineup construction standpoint as we won't have to wait until hours before the race for a confirmed starting lineup. Generally, at Daytona and Talladega we are looking to build around place differential. It makes sense as 12 or more drivers have picked up double-digit place differential in four of the last six races here. Last year was also a unique year as we normally don't see dominator points playing a part but Kurt Busch led 100 laps in the fall race and Joey Logano led 70 in Spring race here. Another trend to look at is the dominance of Ford here at Talladega lately. Each of the last seven and 10 of the last 13 winners were driving a Ford. Let's now take a look at some track history, current form, and then jump into the picks. Last Six Winners at Talladega Aric Almirola(started 4th) Joey Logano(started 9th) Brad Keselowski(started 6th) Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(started...

Toyota Owners 400 Richmond International Raceway Track - .75 Mile D-Shaped Oval Short Track 14° of Banking This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Richmond, another track with a long history in NASCAR. It started back in 1953 with Lee Petty winning the inaugural race and has seen legend Richard Petty win a record seven straight here and stretch where he won nine of 10 here from 1970 to 1975. This will be the second straight short track race so that means the same rules package as Bristol with the 750 HP tapered spacer and taller rear spoiler. From a fantasy perspective, we have seen one driver lead 100 or more laps in each of the last six races and only once have there been two drivers to lead 100+. There have also been at least three drivers to lead 50+ laps in four straight five of the last six races. Moving through the field is not as tough here and we have seen at least six drivers pickup double-digit place differential in five straight races here. Let's jump in and take a look at some race trends and some of the top drivers to target this week. Last Six Winners at Richmond Kyle Busch(started 11th, led 92 laps) Kyle Busch(started 32nd, led 32 laps) Kyle Larson(started 4th, led 53 laps) Joey Logano(started 5th, led 25 laps) Denny Hamlin(started 1st, led 189 laps) Carl Edwards(started 4th, led 151 laps) Track History at Richmond Guess who? Kyle Busch coming off his third win of the season now returns to Richmond where he won both races in 2018 starting outside the Top 10 in both races. He has also tallied Top 10's in six of his last seven trips and leads all active drivers with six career wins here. It appears the Top 10 streak will continue! While Kyle has won the last two races here, Joey Logano has been a touch more consistent with a win, three Top 5's, and a 5.3...

Food City 500 Bristol Motor Speedway - Bristol, TN Track - .533 Mile Oval Short Track 24°-30° of Banking in Turns This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to the World's Fastest Hal-Mile, Bristol Motor Speedway. It is the second short track race of the season but like I mentioned in the Martinsville writeup, all three short tracks are very different. Bristol is a high-banked half mile with a ton of speed and likely even more this week with the new rear spoiler. As for the rest of the rules package, it is the same as years past with the 750 HP setup. For fantasy, it is all about dominator points. There were three drivers in each race last year to lead 100 laps and at least two in six straight here at Bristol. Place differential can be had here with more passing than say Martinsville. Over the last six races here, five times there have been seven or more drivers pick up double-digit place differential in a race here. With that, let's jump in and take a look at some trends and top picks for the race. Last Six Winners at Bristol Kurt Busch(started 9th, led 24 laps) Kyle Busch(started 1st, 117 laps) Kyle Busch(started 18th, led 156 laps) Jimmie Johnson(started 11th, led 81 laps) Kevin Harvick(started 24th, led 128 laps) Carl Edwards(started 1st, led 276 laps) Track History at Bristol Kurt Busch won the night race here last year but he has been far from consistent here at Bristol. He has just five Top 10's in his 15 races here with six finishes outside the Top 20. For his career, however, he is second among active drivers with six wins. First on the career win list here at Bristol is brother Kyle Busch who has seven wins and a whopping 2.232 laps led, 683 more than any other driver. His most recent wins at the track came here at this race last year and the night race in 2017. Like...

O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 Texas Motor Speedway - Fort Worth, TX Track - 1.5 Mile Quad-Oval Intermediate 20° of Banking in Turns 1 & 2 24° of Banking in Turn 3 & 4 This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 Sunday afternoon. Like the Fontana and Las Vegas races, the Cup Series will be back to the full rules package this weekend with the tapered spacer, 550 HP setup, air ducts at the front of the car, and the high downforce rear spoiler. If you remember those two other races, qualifying was a bit of a sh*t show with drafting playing such a huge role with this package. No one wanted to be first off pit road and in the final round at Fontana none of the 12 cars made a lap which led to a ton of boos from fans. Because of this, NASCAR has made a change where cars who leave the staging area(pit stall) they must proceed right to the track and cars not making a time will now start from the rear, not just 12th(final round) or 24th(second round). From a fantasy perspective, this really doesn't have much impact as we are still going to see some fast cars starting further back due to drafting or lack thereof. With all the talk about it being hard to pass the front cars, it puts more emphasis on getting a dominator into our lineups. Looking at the other two races that have used this package, Kyle Busch led 134 laps in Fontana and Joey Logano(86) and Kevin Harvick(88) both led 80+ laps in Las Vegas. Looking at the just Texas track history, there has been at least one driver to lead 100+ laps in six straight races. There has also been three drivers in each of the last three races to all lead 50+ laps. The tough part is predicting those dominators with all the drafting in practice. I...
