Jordan Spieth kicked off the 2016 season shooting a -30 en route to a 8 stroke win over defending champion Patrick Reed. In an interview Tuesday before the tournament he was asked what he is going to do for an encore this year? "Doesn't an encore mean that the show is then over?" Spieth replied. Then he went out and delivered a dominating performance as he did so many times last season. If this is foreshadowing for the future and what we should expect for the 2016 season, we are in store for a great year. For a second straight week we will be enjoying the PGA Tour from the beautiful islands of Hawaii. This week is the Sony Open at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii. We are back to a full field event this week with 140 golfers and a Friday cut seeing the Top 70 golfers and ties make it to the weekend. Jimmy Walker is the two time defending champion and will look to make it three in a row this weekend. No one has won the same event three years in a row since Steve Stricker took down three John Deere Classic's from 2009-2011. Waialae Country Club is a Par 70 that measures 7,044 yards. The course is set on the east coast of the island and can be affected by the trade winds off the sea. The fairways are forgiving but with the strategically placed trees and bunkers it does require an accurate placement of the drive to be in position to attack the pin and make birdies. There are five Par 4's that are 450+ yards so distance can be an advantage this week. We will also want players who hit greens in regulation and good putters always benefit no matter what course. This week I went back through the last five years and looked at the players...

The Tour Championship wrapped up back in September and thankfully we had the wrap around season to get our daily fantasy golf fix. The talent level of the wrap around tournament fields is definitely not the same as the fields during the regular season but still offered some fantastic golf. It was a great time to see some of the changes the golfers are making to their games going into a new season and a prime example was watching Adam Scott get acclimated to a conventional putter. The two events I watched were the CIMB Classic and the HSBC Champions. At the CIMB back in late October/Early November, Scott finished 2nd and putted great. His putting average on all four rounds was 1.610 which ranked 5th in the field. He then went on to the HSBC Champions the next week and while he struggled to a 70th place finish, his Putting Average was 1.711 which ranked 23rd in the field. He looked comfortable with the conventional putter and I am not going to factor it in much, if at all this season. Another positive of the wrap around season is the opportunity to get a close look at some of the new players on tour(rookies) and some of the up and coming stars who are out to prove they belong. The four rookies(Daniel Berger-winner, Tony Finau, Nick Taylor, Justin Thomas) from the 2015 season who were nominees for Rookie of the Year are definitely leading a list of players who are already making an impact on tour. This year provides another strong list of rookies who will look for early success. A few to look out for: Patton Kizzire Led Web.com Tour money list in 2015 Achieved full status on PGA Tour for 2016 season Four events played in wrap around season Shriners Open - T2 Sanderson Farms Championship - T4 OHL CLassic - T58 The RSM Classic - CUT Emiliano...

Click Here to Purchase PGA Lineups Hero World Challenge Albany Championship Golf Course - New Providence, Bahamas Par 72, 7,400 Yards We had a nice week off following the RSM Classic and now we are back for a fun, small field tournament in the Bahamas. The Hero World Challenge is an exclusive invite only tournament hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, Tavistock Foundation and the Albany Scholars Program. The tournament features 18 of the best PGA Tour players in the world and this year will be located at the Albany Championship Golf Course in New Providence, Bahamas. The course itself is a Par 72, 7400 yard test with a unique setup. There are five Par 3's and five Par 5's to go along with 8 Par 4 holes. The Par 3's look tricky as they are well protected by bunkers and water. The Par 5's can be reached in two shots by the long hitters but present plenty of risk/reward as missing the green in two can lead to Bogey's or worse due to the bunkers and water and fall offs behind the greens. You can view more about each hole by visiting the Albany Championship Golf Course page. This is the first ever tournament at this location with a field of PGA Tour caliber so Course History won't be looked at this week. I will be looking for golfers who have been active since the Tour Championship. The main stats to focus on this week will be Driving Distance, Greens in Regulation, Scrambling and Strokes Gained: Putting. **This week, with the small field, I will be doing a break down of my Top 5 golfers for this tournament. ** Strokes Gained: Tee to Green Ball Striking Driving Distance Greens in Regulation Par 3 Performance Par 5 Performance Scrambling Strokes Gained: Putting *Stat rankings are from the 2015 season* Hero World Challenge Top 5 Rankings Jordan Spieth Draftkings - $11,200 Vegas Odds - 4.3/1 The Fedex Cup Champion and Player of the Year is also the returning champion of the Hero World Challenge. Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & Fantasy Feud – OHL Classic at Mayakoba

Click Here to Purchase PGA Lineups OHL Classic at Mayakoba El Camaleon Golf Club - Playa del Carmen, Mex Par 71, 7,039 Yards Another PGA Tour event to start the new year, and another first time winner. Russell Knox took home the hardware and was rewarded with a nice payday after winning the WGC-HSBC Champions event this past weekend. He became only the second player to win his first WGC event and did it surrounded by the worlds best players. It was the 5th tournament on the PGA Tour in the wrap around portion of the new season and all five winners are first timers. The sport is definitely in great shape right now with so many young players in contention week in and week out. The fields for the final two tournaments before the winter break will the weakest of the year which can give us an edge with some additional statistical research. After two weeks on the other side of the world, the PGA Tour makes the trip back to North America for the OHL Classic at Mayakoba hosted at Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It is Mexico's only PGA Tour event and has been played at the El Camaleon Golf Club every year it has been held in Mexico. The field will consist of 3 of the worlds top 50(Kuchar#16, Knox#31, Hoffman#42) and 13 of the Top 100 players. The course is a 6,987 yard, Par 71 layout made up of three different cohesive landscapes(Tropical Jungle, Dense Mongroves, Sand Lined Oceanfront). For the most part it has been the accuracy players and good putters who have done well here but the past two years the tournament has been won by golfers typically known for distance(English, Hoffman). For the most part we will want to roster strong ball strikers and key on the accuracy. The other stats I will be weighing heavily this week are Strokes Gained: Tee to Green and Putting, Greens in Regulation, and Scrambling. *Stat rankings are from the 2015 season* Strokes Gained: Tee to Green Ball Striking Driving Accuracy Greens...

Click Here to Purchase PGA Lineups WGC-HSBC Champions Sheshan International Golf Club(West) - Shanghai, China Par 72, 7,266 Yards It was a hard fought battle for 22 year old Justin Thomas at the CIMB Classic as he captured his first career PGA Tour win. He shot a tournament record -26 en route to the win and almost seen it slip away on the back 9 Sunday. He put his approach on the 14th hole in the water and came away with a double bogey. He did not let that affect him mentally as he went on to birdie 3 in a row and par the 18th to close out the tournament and avoid a playoff. Adam Scott, switching to a conventional putter, tied for 2nd at the CIMB Classic and proved the transition won't be a hinder to his game at all. Another notable finish was Kevin Na's T3. He has now started the new season with a T2, P2, and T3 and is playing the best golf of his career. The back to back defending champion Ryan Moore finished T10 at the CIMB Classic. This week the PGA Tour will head to Shanghai, China for the WGC HSBC Champions event. The field will consist of 78 players with four of the top 5 in the world and 12 of the top 20. It will be the best field we will see going forward until the Tour hits Hawaii in January. The course used for this event is the Sheshan International Golf Club. It is a Par 72 that totals 7,266 Yards in length. It is a beautiful course set amid 1000 year old Ginko trees with waterways and bunkers scattered around the course. It is a tough test for the players with all four par 3 holes over 200 yards and par 5's that will not be reachable in 2 for all players. The fairways present tricky doglegs, bunkers, and water making it very important to be accurate off the tee. Also very important this week will be Par 4 and Par 5 Performance where the scoring will take place. Due...
