Sick deal.   Point Guard Cory Joseph - FD 4700 DK 4700 DFSTR 3000 Should be a big punt play at close to the minimums. Joseph is filling in as Parker sits again tonight. In Joseph's last two games with Parker out he's averaging 16/6/6 which basically crushes these prices. I'm playing him in very format without hesitation and is probably the top value play on the board. Kyle Lowry - FD 9300 DK 10200 DFSTR 7500 As we saw last night, teams can exploit Cleveland in some ways from the point guard position. Although the Cavs have gotten a little better on that end this season, but Kyrie really can't hang with many of the elite point guards. Lowry is just that kind of guy. Was a bit of an off game for the guy last night mostly because Lou Williams caught fire and the game just kind of went that way. I'm still very high on Lowry and hope that last night's problems keep his ownership lower tonight. Brandon Jennings - FD 6500 DK 7000 DFSTR 6200 Hear me out here. In his last four games Jennings has shot an unbelievably bad 19% from the field. Now I understand there are some extenuating circumstances with his thumb that might be effecting his shot. But if you want to take a gamble that he could just be running bad from the field, then you could be buying low on the guy. Russell Westbrook - FD 9800 DK 10400 DFSTR 8200 With news that Durant’s minutes will continued to be restricted, I think this keeps the door open as Westbrook for a potential value play. When Durant is off the court Russell has an insane 38.2 usage rate this season (limited sample). And it isn’t like Westbrook just takes off the time when Durant is around. I think we are still buying Westbrook on a discount. The Bucks are one of the better teams in the league at defending the point guard position, but I think Westbrook still outstrips that consideration.   Shooting Guard Kobe Bryant - FD 8700 DK 9500 DFSTR 7700 He's struggled from the floor in his...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and Draftster 12/8/14

Sick deal.   Point Guard Deron Williams - FD 7800 DK 8200 DFSTR 6900 The guy is often overlooked because he plays on a boring team and there are typically other point guard values on any given night that we can overlook D-Will rather easily. But he's been paying this price more often than not and tonight gets matchup up against Kyrie and Cavs who are about average in defending the opposing point guard. I like D-Will's upside even at this price and don't think he'll be a high percentage start. This is a nice matchup for a guy who does enough across the box score to keep the floor high. Kyle Lowry - FD 9100 DK 10100 DFSTR 7500 Greivis Vasquez - FD 4800 DK 5100 DFSTR 4400 Both of these guys have seen huge usage rate bumps since Demar Derozan's gone down. Lowry especially has taken full reins over the offense and before the Cleveland game has put up over 50 fantasy points in the previous three games. He's been a beast. Meanwhile Greivis still hasn't seen his price full catch up now that he's around and over thirty minutes per game out of the starting lineup. Honestly, playing these guys together in the point guard positions is a fine strategy considering just how much they'll be handling the ball. Consider Mo Williams or Zach Lavine   Shooting Guard Not a ton to love about this position tonight. Rodney Stuckey - FD 5000 DK 4600 DFSTR 4600 Getting just enough minutes to keep himself relevant. Stuckey, when he has the run, should be able to easily beat these prices. He can score quickly and does just enough around the margins to make the idea of getting him into a cash game (even playing less that thirty minutes a game) stomach-able. Again, the minutes for me are right at the breaking point. He has to play at least 26-28 minutes to make him safe. But it seems as if his role in that respect is secure. Avery Bradley - FD 5100 DK 4500 DFSTR 4800 Doesn't offer a whole ton of upside. But what I'm looking for on this...

Short Slate = Short picks.   Point Guard Kyrie Irving - FD 8300 DK 9300 DFSTR 7200 If you are going to pay for a point guard he is probably the guy. As you will see tonight, the decisions are less than clear when it comes to the top value plays. It isn't an easy slate by any means. And while I'm usually pretty excited at the prospect of less options because they decisions made by your opponents tend to cascade if even off by one guy, this one has me hesitant. And after all of that I give you Kyrie. His value is wrapped up a little too much in his scoring which I don't love from a point guard. He's kind of the anti-Rondo in this way. When you do too much of one thing your floor is much lower. That's the case with Kyrie and if this thing gets blow out-y then he is in trouble. I'll risk it though against a bad Knicks team. Jose Calderon - FD 5800 DK 5600 DFSTR 4300 If he can get a decent amount of minutes I think he'll be fine at this price. When he gets thirty or more minutes, paying this price is no problem at all. The issue becomes if the Cavs crush the Knicks and he doesn't see the fourth. I'm fine with risking it (a theme as you'll see). He's averaging a 10/4/4 which is the mean of his production, but the fluctuations are high. I'm betting he gets the minutes and pays easily. Consider Donald Sloan   Shooting Guard Rodney Stuckey - FD 4800 DK 4500 DFSTR 4500 Oof. It doesn't feel good. And you are really begging for the minutes here. But when Stuckey gets the run, the fantasy production (relative to these prices) is there. It's just the run. Will it be there on a given night? Considering his salaries and the lack of any real SG options that don't make you want to puke, I think you can pull the trigger here. If it were a full slate of games, I...

Sign up now and get a free 3 day trial to our lineup construction tool for FanDuel and DraftKings. And now - for the next month - you can get access to our Football projection tools AND our baskeball projection tools for the same price! Sick deal.   Point Guard John Wall - FD 9000 DK 10200 DFSTR 8200 Lakers. Lakers. Lakers. You will see me lead off these columns almost all of the time with point guards against the Lakers. It's just too choice a matchup considering L.A.'s style of play and their inability to defend the position. Don't sweat Brandon Jennings' performance last night. Wall is obviously in a different league and will be a high dollar, high percentage cash game play tonight. I wouldn't call him the safest dude of all time, but I want to have exposure to this game on the Wizard side of the ball and Wall is by far the best bet here. Mo Williams - FD 5600 DK 5700 DFSTR 4000 Another guy whose price isn't there yet when we factor in just how much usage he's getting with Rubio out of the picture. Though it was mirky at first, the delineation of PG roles with Lavine around, that question is over. He's the go-to guy and delivering, getting crazy run in the T-Wolves offense and becoming a scorer and disher. This will be a super-fast game and should be up and down the court all night. He's close to Vasquez for me in terms of value and I think a bit safer than Greivous. Greivis Vasquez - FD 3900 DK 4300 DFSTR 3900 Still coming too cheap considering his new role as the starting two guard and carrying backup PG minutes as well. Vasquez basically is continuing what he was doing in backing up Lowry but is now also filling in for Derozan as well. The price hasn't caught up at all and he makes a strong value play once again. I'd be less thrilled if he was only playing the two, but considering he becomes a ball handler with Lowry off the court, this is a fantastic price with his increase in minutes.   Shooting Guard Kobe Bryant - FD 9200 DK 9400 DFSTR 7900 He's turning into a guy who just loves to pass. And it's working. Kobe didn't score a point in the first half...

And now - for the next month - you can get access to our Football projection tools AND our baskeball projection tools for the same price! Sick deal.   Point Guard Greivis Vasquez - FD 3900 DK 4300 DFSTR 3900 Price and opportunity. Price and opportunity. That's the name of the game here and Vasquez has both working for him. He drew the start in place of Derozan last game and responded with a 19/5 game. Granted that was against the Lakers and the game went to overtime. But he was set to pay before the extra run. And I think he is the best value guard on board by a long shot. I will have him in all cash games. The one concern here is you are playing a two guard in the point guard slot, but Lowry and Vasquez weren't on the court together the whole time last game. He will handle the ball plenty. Brandon Jennings - FD 7200 DK 7600 DFSTR 6300 Lakers. Lakers. Lakers. Jennings is back from the hand injury and really didn't miss a beat in his first game. He went 22/6/5 against Golden State, one of the better defensive teams in the league. The Lakers are at the opposite end of the spectrum. They are allowing a whopping 30% more scoring that league average to the opposing point guard. That number is appalling. How can we not play opposing point guards against Jeremy Lin and company? The answer is: we can't (Too many negative in those clauses? It's simple, Jennings is a great play.) Jeff Teague - FD 7100 DK 7700 DFSTR 6400 Getting point guards against the Celtics is a winning formula. Boston plays at the highest pace in the league (tied with Golden State) but unlike that squad has one of the worst Defensive Efficiencies around. That’s a fantastic spot for the opposing PG who can push the pace and make up tons of ground in volume. Teague’s been playing real well of late, and while I don’t tend to overweight recent performance if all other metrics remain the same, there is reason to suspect he continues a level of performance in such a great matchup. Consider Russell Westbrook if there's no KD and you get word he won't have a minutes restriction. And even then he's...
