He showed it last game when he fanned nine Cubs over eight innings. The Phillies don't strike out as much as the Cubs, but they are a much worse hitting team against lefty pitching, rating in the bottom third of the league in team wOBA against southpaws. I think Liriano has that GPP upside you're looking for but I wouldn't roster him in cash games. Consider Cory Rasmus coming cheap   Catchers Early Slate Miguel Montero - FD 2200 DK 3100 DD 7550 DFSTR 3200 You'll see that with so many stud arms going on such a short slate, the offensive options for the early slate are tough. Montero has been decent against righties this season with a .764 OPS (fine enough for a catcher) and faces the very average Jake Peavy. The problem with stacking any D-Backs today is that there are so few of them worth warranting a mention. Montero is one of the few. Derek Norris - FD 2600 DK 3600 DD 7400 DFSTR 5000 Of course playing him against Sale seems like suicide. But you'll need to run someone out in the early slate and Norris hits lefties well. Again, with so many power arms going, avoiding them completely is tough. Our system accounts for Sale's successes and still has Norris as a somewhat acceptable option. Late Slate Jonathan Lucroy - FD 2900 DK 4300 DD 9200 DFSTR 6200 Lucroy is still coming so, so cheap on FanDuel. For his success this year against righties (.369 wOBA) and the ballpark playing well...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 9/11/14 DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Gone is the salary finagling, mixing and matching, and hair-pulling that goes into setting lineups. ScoreStreak simplifies the process in an easy-to-use interface. Employing a prop-pick style, ScoresStreak leagues are specific outcome dependent with three categories: Total Bases, Hits, and for pitchers, Strikeouts. Also, new users who deposit through DFSR will get an extra $10 to play with.  And if you are new to daily fantasy football, make sure read our Free Football e-book. Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB and NFL system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do. Now go win that Tesla!   Total Bases Mike Trout Kole Calhoun I know what you're thinking. You are saying to yourself, "Doug, you sexy genius, why is it that you continue to recommend these guys over and over again? Oh and you're awesome." See? I know exactly what you are thinking. The fact of the matter is, in a format like ScoreStreak, without the salary constraints, it often (but not always) makes sense to recommend the best hitters simply because on a day in, day out basis, they are the ones with the highest expectations period. Our system is able to isolate different outcomes and determine, based on park and matchup, who has the best chance at achieving these outcomes. Often it's Trout because he's just that good. And when he and Calhoun face such a weak arm like Nick Martinez, well you'd be silly to not have exposure to them.   Hits Erick Aybar Was one of our top hits guys yesterday and what do you know, he went ahead and picked up two hits hopefully winning you that category. He should be at it against today against Martinez whse K rate is extremely low. Meaning it lines up perfectly with Aybar's batted ball profile and contact rate. He should have the ball in play at least four times today. Hit should come. Michael Brantley Whenever he's facing a low strike out pitcher you want to have him in this category. He strikes out and walks exactly 7.3% of the time each against right-handed pitching. That means the other 85.4% of the time he's putting the ball in play. Great news when targeting hits and only hits. Kyle Gibson fits perfectly because the dude never strikes anyone out. I like where those numbers are meeting on the graph.   Strikeouts Michael Fiers With so many stud pitchers going today, it's not unrealistic to fade one or two of them and stick in a guy like Fiers...

Outside of a horrendous start against Boston a few weeks ago, Iwakuma's been steady Eddie. One reason is his crazy low 0.78 BB/9 walk rate which is about as low as you'll ever see. He's also striking out more than seven batters per nine, a number that could tick up against the Astros who K more than 23% of the time against righties. He's a healthy favorite on the day and for cash games this is the way to go. Matt Shoemaker - FD 8100 DK 8800 DD 15350 DFSTR 9900 He's been something of a hidden gem this season. The peripherals are excellent with a K rate close to a batter an inning and he walks less than two per nine. The Rangers rank in the bottom third of the league against righty pitching and they are a team definitely headed in the wrong direction. Shoemaker's 3.26 xFIP shows it's not all smoke and mirrors with him and only the ballpark has me worried here. Drew Hutchison - FD 6600 DK 7100 DD 12600 DFSTR 6600 After Iwakuma and Shoemaker the waters definitely get a bit murkier. Hutchison, while anything but safe, makes for a great upside play. The Cubs K more than 23% of the time against righties and rank near the bottom of the league in team wOBA on that side of the split. Hutchison's turned in a *meh kind of season from an xFIP standpoint, but the...

Now go win that Tesla!   Total Bases Mike Trout Kole Calhoun Another day. Another day of Mike Trout (and a little more of Kole Calhoun). Look I'm not just hitting copy and paste here. Our system is able to isolate expectations and Trout isn't a superstar for nothing. He has high value almost everyday and that value only rises when a guy like Nick Tepesch is on the mound. I had both of these guys going against Lewis yesterday and they both paid. Tepesch is worse that Colby and both Calhoun and Trout should be at it again today. Trout is platoon neutral while Calhoun hits righties on a much more consistent basis. The park helps them out as Arlington sends balls over the fences. These two guys will be all over my ScoreStreak lineups today.   Hits Ben Revere He doesn't do a whole lot beside singles, but he does enough of those to get into the mix today. Revere is somewhat of a one trick pony. Luckily that one trick (getting to first base) is all you need in this category. He never takes walks (2.5% BB rate) and strikes out so rarely (7.5% K rate) that that rest of the time he's putting the ball in play and trying to leg out a single. It works and has him as a high expectation for multiple hits today against Worley who also doesn't strike out or walk anyone. Brian Dozier T.J. House gets drilled by righty bats and Dozier is much, much better on the lefty side of his platoon splits. I'm buying on the idea that House allows a wOBA in the high .300's to righty hitters and Dozier, while striking out some, hits at the top of the order and rakes lefty pitching for his career.   Strikeouts Drew Hutchison It's a tough day to chase K's. I'm probably not shooting the moon with either of these guys, though I do think the...

Lester's strike out rate is close to a K an inning, but the big story is his control. He's walking less than two batters per nine, allowing him often times to go later into games. He's the favorite today against Danks and still coming moderately priced all things considered. The White Sox strike out 22% of the time against lefties and rate in the bottom half of the league in that platoon split. Wade Miley - FD 7500 DK 8200 DD 13750 DFSTR 5800 On such a tough pitching day, we need to find a little values in the margins. Miley doesn't have a great, great matchup today but the Giants are only slightly above league average against lefties. They strike out plenty and though guys like Pence and Posey do their fair share of damage, the rest of the lineup is bad on this side of the split. Miley has decent K upside, needs to limit the walks to be truly effective and the park helps him. It won't make me feel awesome, but this is a tough day. Consider Mark Buehrle and Roenis Elias as high risk/ K upside guys at lower prices.   Catchers Jonathan Lucroy - FD 3000 DK 4300 DD 9100 DFSTR 5300 His price on FanDuel remain ridiculous and I'm buying on that $3000 salary almost all day long. There are a couple of other...
