Now go win that Tesla! Total Bases Nelson Cruz Adam Jones I love picking on some J.A. Happ. It of course isn't a full-proof system as Happ does turn in a solid game every once in a while. But Cruz and Jones have spent the better part of this season tagging lefties and down. They are both rocking wOBAs over .400 on that side of the platoon this season and each has OPS near the top of the lefty splits leader board. Happ, for his career, is worse against righties (opposite this season) and Camden Yards is about a good as it gets for boosting righty power. I love the idea of stacking them in the total bases category especially in the six-man ScoreStreak leagues. Hits Victor Martinez Any time V-Mart squares up against a pitcher with a low K rate I sit up and take notice. When that pitcher is a righty, all the better. See Martinez is nearly impossible for righties to strike out. His 6.1 K% is about as low as you'll see from any hitter in any split and speaks to his ability to generate contact in nearly all of his plate appearances on that side of the split. Kyle Gibson has no K stuff to speak of and Martinez is in a great spot for hits tonight. Jose Reyes Hitting at the top of the lineup on a day that should see the Blue Jays put up some runs. I like Reyes against Bud Norris because the former isn't too terribly interested in taking walks, doesn't strike out a ton, and should see an extra plate appearance today if the Jays can get to Norris early. Strikeouts David Price If I'm trying to hit the nine K mark I rolling Price out there today. Sale has a matchup against the Royals that's less than ideal considering their strike out rate. But Price is matched up with the Twin who K more...

Here are my thoughts. Corey Kluber - FD 7700 DK 8900 DD 14850 DFSTR 6000 If you're underwhelmed by the idea of paying top dollar for a pitcher today, why not consider Ian Kennedy? The guy has more than a K per inning this year, and he's pitching in the league's greatest pitcher's park. The Phillies have the 9th worst strike out rate in the league this year, and their wOBA is second lowest behind Kennedy's own woe-begotten Padres. Getting a win is always a concern for Padres pitchers, but Kennedy has arguably as much upside as the top two guys for a fraction of the price. Jake Peavy...

Now go win that Tesla! Total Bases Hanley Ramirez While it's true that Hanley's lost a step or two, you can't complain about his performance against left handed pitching this year. He's got a .402 wOBA against lefties this year, and that includes actual major league quality pitchers. On this night he faces Tyler Matzek in Coors Field. Oh, baby. Michael Cuddyer Cuddyer is simply a dynamic power hitter, and he particularly thrives at Coors. Haren's pitch to contact approach might work in the spacious Dodgers' home park, but it ain't gonna fly in the mile high air. I think Haren gets run from this game, and that Cuddyer is right in the center of it. Hits Robinson Cano Cano has torn the cover off the ball this season, and while Cory Rasmus has some nice peripherals this year, it remains to be seen how those will translate away from the long relief role. Cano happens to hit righties better as well, but the main thrust of this ranking comes from the opposing pitcher. Denard Span With a 17.1% K + BB rate, Span tends to put balls in play. And when he does, he gets a hit about 32.1% of the time. That's mathspeak for "good at getting hits." And he's even better against righties than lefties. While Harang has been a little better than league average this year, it should stop Span from putting some hard hit balls in play. Strikeouts Corey Kluber What's there to say about Kluber? 230 Ks against 46 BBs in 212.2 IP this year are purely ace numbers, and he's facing down a team that has struck out with the 3rd highest frequency of anyone in the majors. Kluber should go deep in this one, and if he does, a high K total feels like a lock. Johnny Cueto Speaking of ace, Cueto has really come into his own as a strike out pitcher this year. And he actually...

And it's hard for the Padres to scrape together wins for their starters, but the Phillies are a terrible team against righty pitching ranking only a slot above the Padres (wink). Cashner has some power stuff, though the strike out rate hasn't totally followed. But he can have those kind of games and he makes a nice pairing on DraftKings if you are rolling out one of the guys above. Ryan Vogelsong...

Now go win that Tesla! Total Bases Justin Morneau Chris Dickerson For the total bases category I think these two guys are the top picks by a mile. They've both raked righty pitching in Coors this season and have just crushed this platoon split over the course of the season. Today they face Roberto Hernandez who doesn't strike anyone out and gets lit up by lefty bats. The Rockies could put up some significant runs in this affair and I like both Morneau and Dickerson's chances at hitting multiple bases either through one swing of the bat, or just by higher than average opportunity. Either way, I don't think it pays to fade Coors today. Hits Robinson Cano I'm mostly buying him here based on his successes against righties this season and his contact rates in that split. Matt Shoemaker has been a good arm for sure, but Cano's contact-fueled .900 OPS against righties just makes him so safe on a game-to-game basis. Again, the matchup isn't ideal, but I think the bat outweighs the arm in this one. Strikeouts Stephen Strasburg The Braves are one of the worst teams in baseball hitting against righty pitching. And though they've had success against Strasburg this season, I think you should let your competitors let that fact talk them off the best pitching option today. Strasburg's peripherals have been awesome this year and his xFIP is running almost a whole run lower than his ERA. He strikes out a ton of batters and the Brave go down swinging more than 22% of the time against righties. Max Scherzer Considering his skill set I'm surprised how little our system like Scherzer today. Part of the reason my be the Twins' success against righties, though they do go down on strikes 21% of the time in the righty split. Scherzer can be hit or miss, but he still K's more than 10 batters per nine and should be able...
