You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Ryan Braun He'll be a nearly universal play in SOME total bases slot today, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't play him, too. Braun has posted an otherworldly 177 wRC+ against left handed pitching for his career, and Wade Miley is absolutely prone to giving up the long ball. The system thinks Braun is the best play at total bases, and frankly, it isn't even close. Buster Posey This pick will be slightly off board today, as people will tend to go in the direction of more conventional sluggers, but hear me out. Posey has a nearly 1.000 OPS against left handed pitchers for his career, and in this contest he's facing one that is terrible (Danks) in a great hitter's ball park. I wouldn't play him in the top slot, but for 2 total bases? I could absolutely see Posey rapping out a couple of hits or collecting a double. More is definitely possible - but Posey is really a great play for hits or TBs in my opinion.   Hits Jacoby Ellsbury The system loves Ellsbury to get lots of at bats against Stroman - and his ability to make contact will give him a lot of opportunity to work out some base hits. Love him in the top hits slot today, and I don't think I'd even consider anyone else. Starlin Castro As I wrote in our other daily picks column today, Castro is having his finest offensive season as a major leaguer - and we get a bonus - the guy doesn't really strike out or walk much - a combined rate of just 22%. Desclafani is a control pitcher who should be...

You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases David Ortiz We said it last night, we'll say it again: Our system has David Ortiz ranked as far and away the #1 option for total bases tonight, and for good reason. Since 2013, Ortiz has a .417 wOBA and .285 ISO vs. right-handed pitchers. In this game, he goes from Josh Tomlin to Justin Masterson. While Masterson has the better reputation, he's actually a fair spot worse against left handed pitching - and hitting at home, Papi absolutely has a chance to get a hold of one and top the total bases category. Miguel Cabrera I was tempted to go elsewhere for this selection, but this one is bolstered by Miggy's ability to hit for both power and average. He'll 100% put balls in play against Gibson, and given Gibson's lack of any true quality offering, I'm going to guess he puts one in play even harder than usual. Maybe more than one.   Hits Robinson Cano Enough was said last night about Cano's hitting ability vs. right-handed pitchers that I don't need to repeat myself, so I'll just quote it instead: Cano has made a living hitting vs. right-handed pitchers, especially right-handed pitchers like Chase Whitley, who he’ll be facing tomorrow. Since 2013, Cano has a stellar .333 batting average vs. right-handed pitchers. It does come as the result of a fairly high .340 batting average on balls in play, however it’s supported by a very solid 24.7% line drive rate and a very low 10% strikeout rate, so he makes solid contact and puts the ball in play frequently, which is about all you can ask for when it comes to a high-variance category...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Anibal Sanchez FanDuel 8600 DraftKings 9900 DraftStreet 17516 As I wrote yesterday with Scherzer, these Red Sox aren't what you're thinking. Get that World Series squad out of your head. They are in the bottom third of the league offensively against righties. Scherzer exploited this and he was a massive under start across the industry. Sanchez will be the same way today. Sanchez isn't as good as his 2.15 ERA would suggest. His xFIP is a little more than a run higher. But he still racks up the K's and his tag is just fine. Jordan Zimmermann FanDuel 8000 DraftKings 7700 DraftStreet 15487 The Padres stink. And they play in one of the best pitcher's park in the league. Those two considerations alone are enough to consider every pitcher taking the mound against the Dads. This is the perfect spot for a guy like Zimmerman who makes up for his lack of K's by not walking anyone. If you are going to allow contact, this is one of the parks to do it. Zimmerman walks less than two batters per nine, while striking out about seven per nine. I think he will be a real popular cash game play where the price is right because his floor is so high because of the opponent. Homer Bailey FanDuel 8100 DraftKings 8100 DraftStreet 14962 You usually know pretty quickly what version of Homer Bailey you've gotten on a particular day. He doesn't leave much to the imagination. Dude has run crazy bad in his HR/FB rate which is about six points higher than is career average. It's the thing that kills him really. But I like him today against the Phillies who rank 27th in the league in OPS against righties. They stink. The game being in Great American Ballpark isn't ideal of course. But I can stomach it on the upside. C.J. Wilson FanDuel 8100 DraftKings 10700 DraftStreet 17966 The White Sox strike out 24% of the time against lefties,...

You'll like it as much as we do.     Hits Mike Trout Trout is going to be played by a ton of people today, but that's because he's awesome. He'll be batting atop a lineup that should abuse Brandon Maurer's sub-par stuff, and he'll get plenty of opportunities to put the ball in play. Trout's one weakness in the hits category is strikeouts (25.9% - the highest number of his career), but Maurer doesn't strike anyone out. A match made in heaven. Nick Markakis Whoa! Perhaps you didn't expect to see Markakis on the hits chart, today, but here he is. Markakis' relatively low walk rate and high BABIP make him a perfect selection against the woeful Brad Peacock, who gives opposing hitters plenty of room to get the bat on the ball. The O's should run Peacock out of this one in short order, giving Markakis plenty of opportunity to make the most of this lefty-righty pairing.   Total Bases Chris Davis Davis has one of the highest projections for total bases that I've seen in my time tracking this sort of thing, as he's facing off against a very poor pitcher (Brad Peacock) in a very good hitting environment for left-handed power hitters. Albert Pujols I'm giving you Angels and O's today. Pujols' isolated power numbers are back up near his prime, and Maurer's pitch-to-contact approach will give big Al plenty of opportunity to get the fat part of his bat on the ball. Safeco is actually...
