Hisashi Iwakuma FanDuel 8000 DraftKings 8900 DraftStreet 15810 Ooh boy do the Astros strike out a lot against righties. Their 24% K% is tied with the Marlins for worst in the league. Iwakuma isn't going to blow it out of the box in terms of strikeouts but he also is a control freak, walking less than a batter per nine. That's about as good as you'll see and his ability to stay in the zone makes up for his lack of K's because he can go late in games. The Astros can hit a little, but again it's mitigated by the strikeout rate. Solid cash game play here. Editor's note: Iwakuma is going tomorrow with Walker going today. This would downgrade Iwakuma for today as he will accrue you zero points. Nod to Matt Null for the catch.  Mat Latos FanDuel 7800 DraftKings 9400 DraftStreet 17023 The strikeouts haven't been there in his first three starts off the DL. Granted, two of those games were against the first and seventh top teams in the majors against righty pitching, so I'm not looking into it too terribly much. A little more troubling is the velocity is down a tick from his career averages. Could be him working his way back. Or it could be something worse. This game will show us a great deal because the Padres are other-worldly bad, ranking dead last in the league against righties by a fairly large margin. I'm willing to roll it on Latos in this spot because the opponent is so trashy and the park really helps him (and all the revenge game!). Jesse Hahn FanDuel 6300 DraftKings 8300 DraftStreet 16114 Has basically come out of nowhere to put up some of the better pitching numbers around in his short major league stint. He is K-ing more than ten batters per nine and the 2.65 xFIP is right in line with the low...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers General guidance today: It's not much of a day for elite pitching. Both Felix Hernandez and Clayton Kershaw are priced through the roof, and neither has a particularly great match-up. The Indians are 9th in the majors in wOBA and are a heck of a tough strike out. That's why, if I AM paying big, I will be going with Kershaw. The Cardinals rank just 24th in the majors in wOBA, and LA is a great place to pitch. The problem there? The Cardinals are one of the toughest teams in the league to strike out, at 18.2%. Me? I'm going a little bit cheaper. Keep reading. Homer Bailey FanDuel 8000 DraftKings 8400 DraftStreet 14365 Tim Hudson FanDuel 7600 DraftKings 8500 DraftStreet 15669 The case for Bailey - The Giants strike out 7th most in the majors, and they're in the bottom half of the league in wOBA. The case against Bailey - the ERA isn't there this season, and he's facing off against Tim Hudson. The case for Hudson is that he's facing the Reds, who are 21st in the majors in wOBA, and they strike out a decent amount as well. I think Bailey has more upside, but Hudson seems very safe. I think you can play either here, oddly. Drew Smyly FanDuel 6900 DraftKings 7300 DraftStreet 13369 Not the sexiest pick, but you can really save by going with Smyly, and there's a lot to like for him in this match-up. Houston leads the majors in striking out, and they're trotting out Scott Feldman, presumably in an effort to continue to throw the season. This could easily be a big game for the under-priced Smyly. Also considered: Alex Cobb, Aaron Harang   Catcher Evan Gattis FanDuel 3700 DraftKings 4200 DraftStreet 7263 I'm not sure about you, but I am starting to feel a little awkward about the whole Evan Gattis thing. I've always been a non-believer, but here he is with his .900 OPS that...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Max Scherzer FanDuel 8700 DraftKings 8400 DraftStreet 18999 I like Gray for the same reasons I like Scherzer - an opponent that strikes out a ton. While Gray isn't the natural stuff machine that Scherzer is, he can still put together a high strike out game, and the Marlins are actually tied for 1st with those Astros in terms of strike out percentage (23.3%). In addition, he'll be pitching in a terrific pitchers park with one of the league's best offenses behind him. A very solid play. Also considered: Gio Gonzalez (he is pitching against someone named "Dallas Beeler," Chris Sale, Matt Cain Catcher Wilson Ramos FanDuel 3000 DraftKings 4000 DraftStreet 5336 Just warning you now - get ready for a theme. Dallas Beeler sounds more like a Friday Night Lights villain than a major league baseball pitcher, and his stats in the minors bear it out. I'll have plenty of opportunity to write about this as the picks go along, so let me focus on Ramos. It's tempting to think of him as a low upside guy due to the lack of power, but Ramos makes a ton of contact and can pile up multi-hit games. Against a guy like Beeler, Ramos could have a nice opportunity to gather some counting stats as well. Russell Martin FanDuel 2800 DraftKings 3800 DraftStreet 5249 On FanDuel, Martin has averaged 2.7 Fantasy points per game, which is pretty much a ton for anyone, much less a $2,800 catcher. While Niese is a solid pitcher, Martin has flexed a 116 wRC+ against lefties for his career, and I think he'll fare well here. Yasmani Grandal FanDuel 2500 DraftKings 3400 DraftStreet 4132 I'm going to be real with you for a second - I hate every catcher in the late games. I'm giving you Grandal because he's cheap and can hit pretty well against right handers, but mostly because he's facing Josh Collmenter, whose inability to strike anyone out really mitigates the...

We usually try to offer some in-depth reasoning behind each pick. For the next few days we will be a little truncated as the DFSR team moves offices. Picks solid no doubt. Write ups brief. Let's get to it.   Pitchers Johnny Cueto FanDuel 5400 DraftKings 6500 DraftStreet 11742 This is your strikeout upside guy for the day. Coming super cheap against the Mariners who've shown flashes of offense lately, but are still in the bottom half of the league against. Bauer K's about a batter an inning but has control issues. xFIP is under 4. Like him as a cheap second or third starter with a higher ceiling but the floor is there. Consider Tyson...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 6/27/14

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 6/27/14 DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Gone is the salary finagling, mixing and matching, and hair-pulling that goes into setting lineups. ScoreStreak simplifies the process in an easy-to-use interface. Employing a prop-pick style, ScoresStreak leagues are specific outcome dependent with three categories: Total Bases, Hits, and for pitchers, Strikeouts. New users who deposit through DFSR will get an extra $10 to play with. We are putting in picks every night and giving you some of our top plays each day. Two are on us, the third is all you. Or go your own way. As always, if you are new to daily fantasy baseball, make sure read our Free Baseball e-book. It contains one mistake that basically everyone in the daily fantasy baseball industry is making! Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Ryan Braun Facing a lefty in Miller Parker today is a recipe for success when it comes to old Braun-y. Miller isn't Coors, but it isn't too far behind either in terms of park factors for righties. Braun has struggled a bit this year especially against southpaws. But some of this is Babip related as well as a lower Hr/FB%. This doesn't tell the whole story by any means, but there are some underlying factors to his reduced OPS. But I'm on him today against Matzek. Chris Davis Another guy to consider when it comes to fulfilling total bases in one swing of the bat. Not the safest play on the board but is in such a great spot considering Colome has struggled a little in his time up in the majors and Davis has some of the best power in the game. Again, it's a risk because the contact rate is low. But I wanted to give a guy the field won't be on as much and out system love the upside for.   Total Hits Dustin Pedroia He really pounds lefties both this season and over his career. This season's .836 OPS and 130 wRC+ show a guy whose early struggles haven't come from this side of the split. Vidal Nuno is pretty much garbage and it stands to reason that not only will Pedroia be able to grab a hit or two but that he he'll also have more opportunity as the Sox should be able to turn the lineup over more. Dee Gordon Speed is such a key component in projecting hits. For some of the other, bigger mashers a great deal needs to go right for them....
