Pitchers Stephen Strasburg - FD 9300 DK 9300 DD 18200 SS 27400 Strasburg is the best play according to our projection system by a country mile today. The good Phillies are old and K prone, and the bad Phillies are... bad. In spite of a great home park, the Phils have a wOBA below .300 and have struck out the 12th most in the majors. Hamels is a less than ideal match-up, but Strasburg is simply irresistable. Yu Darvish - FD 11100 DK 11200 DD 21100 SS 30200 Darvish has been human recently, but the upside is still just tremendous. The Indians are tougher to strike out than the Phils, but Bauer is a much more favorable guy to face than Hamels. If you want to go safer today, Darvish is worth a look to be sure. Madison Bumgarner - FD 8800 DK 9200 DD 18000 SS 26300 The Mets are basically the Phillies, but worse. Their team wOBA is a whopping 3 points higher, but their the 8th easiest team in the league to strike out. Colon has been pretty sharp this year, but the Giants will still be considerable favorites, and Bumgarner should have a nice start. Also considered: Josh Beckett, Tyson Ross Value Plays: Marcus Stroman, Francisco Liriano Catchers Brian McCann - FD 2800 DK 4100 DD 7200 SS 5300 I have to be real with you: today is a brutal day to pick a catcher. It's with some regret that I present Brian McCann as the best catcher play of the day. Basically, Buchholz and his 70 Ks against 33 BB in 96 innings this year has been a mess, and while McCann has been pretty bad himself - it's still a great platoon spot in a good hitters' park. Salvador Perez - FD 2800 DK 3800 DD 6950 SS 5400 Perez makes a pretty solid play against Scott Kazmir today, in spite of Kazmir being a good pitcher. He's a .372 career wOBA guy against left handed pitching, and while he's run pretty bad against southpaws this year, he should definitely get that back on track by the end of the...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Wow, this is such a crazy tough day to pick out the best value among pitchers. I’m going to throw out a few more options than normal and give the cases for and against. Ian Kennedy - FD 7600 DK 8300 DD 15600 SS 24000 For: From a dollar perspective, I think he is the best play of the day. Having a solid season with a low three’s xFIP and striking out more than a batter an inning. Braves rank near the bottom of the league in team wOBA against righties. Against: Padres’ offensive is garbage making it tough for him to get the win against Santana. Homer Bailey - FD 8300 DK 8200 DD 15250 SS 22300 For: Marlins K a ton. Bailey’s biggest issue is allowing home runs, but Miami is such a great place for pitchers that we reduce those chances by a fair amount. xFIP is half a run lower than ERA. Against: When it goes wrong there’s no redemption. The longball is a real thing and it can crush him. Hyun-Jin Ryu - FD 8300 DK 9400 DD 17500 SS 26400 For: Cubs strike out at an alarming rate against lefties. More than 25% of the time. Ryu’s 3.19 xFIP is solid and his K/BB peripherals are great. Against: Cubs rank 4th in the league in team wOBA against lefties. So basically when they aren’t striking out, they’re killing you. Justin Masterson - FD 6200 DK 6000 DD 10150 SS 15500 For: Is among the best in baseball (specialized relievers included) at getting right handed batters out. The Brewers are a righy-dominant lineup. Against: Just back from injury. Wasn’t all that good before he got hurt. Catchers Miguel Montero - FD 2600 DK 3900 DD 7900 SS 5600 Been on the Montero train for a few days now and I don’t plan on de-boarding. Not when we are pulling into Vance Worley Station. (Getting sick of the lame “train” device I’m using here?) Anyway, we are set to depart towards ValueTown (Ok,...

Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do. Total Bases Alex Rios Adrian Beltre I’m going with the all teammate edition of this ScoreStreak picks today. These two guys face low K guy T.J. House and both are among the dominant lefty platoon split hitters in all of baseball. Their stats are sick against lefties with the OPS’s (Rios 1.046, Beltre .918) out of the box and only backing up their historical averages. T.J. House isn’t the worst pitcher in the world. But he sure isn’t good and since he can’t generate many swings and misses, the upside of both of these guys is pretty great. I’ll have them all over the total bases category and both top our system in terms of upside today. Hits Miguel Cabrera Ian Kinsler Continuing the teammate theme, these two guys yet again draw a lefty from the Rockies. I wrote about this in our main picks article, but it’s getting a little sill about how I spend an entire series writing about the righty batters from whatever team is facing the Rockies. Colorado just runs out a who’s who of bad lefty starters and theymake such juicy matchups for the righty opposition. Miggy and Kinsler top the list here and should have the ball in play against Matzek. Strikeouts Homer Bailey Real tough day to chase K’s. I won’t be playing anyone in my nine K slot with any great hope. These plays are more for the middle of the pack and honestly, even they don’t excite me to any great degree. Bailey is interesting mostly because the Marlins K so much against righty pitching. Their 24% strikeout percentage is among the highest in the league and they rank in the middle of...

Pitchers Chris Sale - FD 11000 DK 12600 DD 22350 SS 33000 Not exactly going out on a limb to recommend the most expensive pitcher on the board, but you're not reading to see us go out on limbs, you're reading to hear the best picks. Sale is just that. With nearly 10 strikeouts per 9 innings and a 1.55 BB/9 rate, Sale stands to have a huge outing against Logan Darnell and the mediocre Twins. Danny Salazar - FD 7300 DK 7000 DD 13500 SS 17600 Hot damn, I'm out on a limb again. Listen, I get that the 4.97 ERA is an eyesore, but Salazar is as capable of a huge game as anyone. The K rate is phenomenal, and the match-up against Jerome Williams actually gives him a pretty high floor in this game as well. If there are a bunch of expensive hitters who capture your fancy today, you could do a lot worse than running a few Danny Salazar lineups. We will. Mike Minor - FD 6800 DK 7200 DD 12250 SS 20700 Minor has been wildly unlucky this year - posting an ERA over 5 but an xFIP of 3.64. The K rate is great, the BB rate is reasonable, and the match-up is to die for. The Dads are the 3rd easiest team in the league to strike out, and have the worst wOBA of any team by a country mile. And Eric Stults is a great guy to go up against. Terrific upside here. Also considered: Dan Haren, Mat Latos Catchers Mike Zunino - FD 2800 DK 3200 DD 7700 SS 5400 With 3 home runs in his last 4 games, Zunino has been fulfilling the promise suggested by our projection system this whole season. The upside is considerable - Zunino has a wOBA of .352 vs. left handed pitching in his short career - and you don't have to pay a whole lot for the opportunity to take him against the mediocre Chen. Buster Posey - FD 3400 DK 4400 DD 9700 SS 7400 While he hasn't put up the Herculean numbers of...

If you have any questions, just email us dailyfantasysr@gmail.com or shoot us a tweet @dailyfantasysr Total Bases Miguel Cabrera Been picking him a great deal lately, and why not? He's been facing some sub-standard pitching and today is just another round of "Which Crappy Colorado Lefty is Taking the Mound Today?" Here we have Franklin Morales, a dude so bad against righty pitching that he should probably be turned into a reliever. Except that he's also not great against lefty pitching. So there's that. Over his career Morales has allowed over an .800 OPS to righties and this season it's been even worse with the number pushing .950. Those are crazy bad numbers. So yeah, hop on Miggy today. Andrew McCutchen Speaking of the splits meeting right in the sweet spot, consider McCutchen today against Vidal Nuno (sounds like a fancy salad dressing whenever I hear that name). McCutch is one of the great lefty rakers, and this season's been more of the same considering he's posting an .868 OPS against lefties in spite of a .241 Babip in that split. Impressive. Meanwhile, Vidal Nuno is allowing a .361 wOBA to righties this season. McCutch has me giddy. Hits Jose Altuve This one's an easy one. Altuve is killing lefty pitching this season with a .989 OPS split in that platoon and it's almost entirely batted ball related. The guy never K's (less than 10% average) and never walks (right around 4%). That leaves a lot of bat hitting a lot of ball. If you are looking for multiple hits today, snag him against J.A. Happ who pitches to a great deal of contact and just generally kind of blows. Altuve sits atop the leaderboard here so he won't sneak up on anyone. But I wouldn't fade him in this situation. Victor Martinez Here's another scenario I like when targeting hits in ScoreStreak. V-Mart has a profile a lot like Altuve in that he keeps both his walks and his hits low. Of course he has much more power than little Jose, but we are just interested in contact rate here. He's scorching left-handed...
