You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Nelson Cruz Chris Capuano has kept up an 8.17 K/9 which is slightly higher than his career average with an xFIP right around four. All told, he's an ok pitcher but not someone we'd expressly avoid in any scenario. Especially when we're talking about Nelson Cruz who's systematically mashed lefty pitching this season with a 162 wRC+. The only thing scaring me off Cruz in this format is that he does walk a ton against lefty pitching, something we aren't interested in at all in this format. That being said, the upside is too great considering the platoons and the ballpark. Adrian Beltre Could honestly go Adam Jones here as well and I'll have shares of both Orioles today. But it's worth throwing out Beltre as well considering the spot he's in against Smyly. Beltre's wOBA is close to .400 against lefties this season with an OPS in the mid .900's. Smyly doesn't have big swing and miss stuff which keeps Beltre's total base expectation high. And don't forget about the ballpark in Arlington boosting power all around.   Hits Ben Zobrist James Loney Going for a pair of teammates in this spot today. Both face Colby Lewis in the Texas. Lewis isn't as bad as the 5.50 ERA (xFIP a full run lower) but he's still no good. He doesn't strike out more than eight batters per nine and has some big time nuclear disaster blow up in him. Both Zobrist and Loney have solid contact rates against righties and should have the ball in play today. I'm happy to pick on Lewis in this spot and there's definitely some benefit to having a mini-stack even in the ScoreStreak format especially...

But that’s how we do in the DFSR. This machine doesn’t stop. Even with a non-displaced fracture to the left fibula. So please excuse us if these picks are bit truncated, medical situations and all.   Pitchers Alex Cobb - FD 8300 DK 8300 DD 15000 SS 25200 Cobb's been pretty solid this season with his most dramatic change coming from an increased strikeout rate. He's facing a Cub team that’s been abhorrent against righty pitching, ranking near the bottom of the league in team wOBA and striking out around 22% of the time. Zack Wheeler - FD 7700 DK 8400 DD 14800 SS 21500 Wheeler’s been about average this season which is fine when facing the Phillies who would love to be just average. They stink and come in at second to last in the league in facing righties. Wheeler needs to have his control on point in order to be truly dominant. The K stuff is there, but he walks too many guys. That being said, I’m buying here on the opponent as much as anything. Alex Wood - FD 7700 DK 7000 DD 15000 SS NA Our system is really liking the value on Wood today though I must admit I’m not totally seeing it. Could simply be a pricing thing as the Nats are actually decent against lefties. Wood is good though, striking out close to a batter an inning and sporting an xFIP in the low 3’s. Charlie Morton - FD 6800 DK 6300 DD 13000 SS 18400 Morton is merely *meh but I’m considering buying here on the opponent. I know the Padres have had a moment of two or late. But they remain a terrible offensive team who’ve decided to not be the worst Babip-ing team in the history of the world anymore. Consider Jason Hammel coming real cheap and Clayton Kershaw who is real expensive against the K-happy Brewers.   Catchers Devin Mesoraco - FD 3200 DK 4000 DD 8450 SS 7700 Great ballpark....

Even with a non-displaced fracture to the left fibula. So please excuse us if these picks are bit truncated, medical situations and all.     Total Bases Mike Trout There are a couple of high end dudes worth considering today, but I think I'll go with Trout against Rubby de la Rosa. Trout has no real distinction in his platoon splits: he crushes everyone without remorse. de la Rosa has been below average and outside of a big K effort in his debut hasn't shown a ton of swing and miss ability. Oh and Trout is Trout. Mark Trumbo Loved him yesterday and he paid big. Going back for more today against Franklin Morales, a righty hitter batting practice machine. Trumbo's been running bad since coming back from injury. But he's a solid guy against lefty pitching and Chase Field boosts power for righty batters.   Hits Jose Altuve Assuming he returns to the lineup today, Altuve makes a great play for hits considering his matchup against Nick Martinez. Martinez K's almost no one, though he does has a high walk rate. I'm not so worried about the latter because Altuve isn't interested in free things. And Altuve's contact rate is so high there is almost no way Martinez strikes him out. Ian Kinsler Here's another guy facing a low K guy, this time it's Mark Buehrle. Buehrle strikes out less than six batters per nine and doesn't walk many. That means hitters are getting the bat on the ball. Kinsler is in...

Much hate has been leveled against the guy this season, mostly from a few epic blow-up games and underperforming in some high expectation starts. Otherwise, he's been a stud this season with an xFIP of 2.55 and striking out more than 10.5 batters per nine. He faces a Braves team coming in near the bottom of the league against righties. Fantastic spot and will be the feature starter in every one of my cash games today. And honestly, it's not close. Jose Quintana - FD 7700 DK 8300 DD 16250 SS NA Wow, was I surprised to see this guy popping up near the top of our system today. Not a dude on my radar all that often, but he's putting together a more than serviceable season and today faces a true bottom feeding team against lefties in the Mariners. Quintana's a speck worse than his 3.02 ERA would suggest but, all in all, it's been a solid season striking out close to eight per nine and keeping the walks relatively in check. The big upside here is the opponent as the Mariners stink against lefties and Safeco keeps power completely in check. Ian Kennedy - FD 7600 DK 8300 DD 15800 SS 23900 Feels like I throw him out there every time out. One reason is because his price is kept (somewhat) artificially low because getting a win for the dude is super tough. Because the Padres suck and all. Kennedy's peripherals are totally acceptable at around a 3:1 K:BB with a 3.31 xFIP. The Pirates aren't pushovers but become considerably worse without McCutchen in the lineup. The ballpark helps and Kennedy should be a complete dog in the game. Consider Nathan Eovaldi   Catchers Brian McCann - FD 3000 DK 3800 DD 7900 SS 5700 Broken record time mostly because the continues his season-long run of coming way cheaper than expectation due to some incredible bad luck. He's gotten hot of late with some power...

First there's the fact that the Twins are the 7th easiest team in the league to strike out. Next is that he'll be facing off against one Yohan Pino. Last is that he's gone from a tough hitter's park to a great pitcher's park. And he's just pretty damned good. For me, Lester is the highest upside and lowest risk of the day. Collin McHugh - FD 7200 DK 8400 DD 16600 SS 23000 McHugh came back in late July and put up two pretty darned good fantasy starts that would have been even better had his team been able to put up a win. He's still got the excellent K potential, and facing the Phillies is an added bonus. They're in the top half of the league in terms of how easy they are to strike out, and have been in the bottom 5 of team wOBA all season. Added bonus for McHugh? His opposing starter, Roberto Hernandez, is one of the very worst pitchers to take the ball every 5 days in the majors. I'm thinking he's got a good chance to snag that illusive win. Early Games Jordan Zimmermann - FD 8900 DK 9400 DD 17850 SS 28500 There's not a lot to choose from in the early slate, so let me make a brief case for Zimmermann. The guy's simply in his prime - striking out more guys than ever, and walking fewer. The Mets are downright hopeless when it comes to hitting, and their best hitter (Wright) hasn't made contact against a right handed pitcher in what feels like a million years. Also considered: Homer Bailey Catchers Late Games Devin Mesoraco - FD 3400 DK 4100 DD 9250 SS 8300 Mesoraco is having an insane break out this year, and while it's BABIP fueled, a lot of it is more than legit. His career line against left handers is terrific, and his line this year is even better. Any time you can get a catcher with a .367...
