Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings for 5/1/14 Happy May Day! Much to your disappointment, it's Mister March here instead of your old pal Doug. The good news? I am considerably younger and handsomer than Doug. You've been warned. Tired of shedding bankroll? The projections have liked him for a bounce back since day 1, and he's produced on those projections, and more. The strikeouts are good, the walks are great, and the real kicker? He's reversed his fb/gb trends this year. With a 54% ground ball rate, Haren is positively in beast mode - and the Twins had a sub 700 OPS against right handers last year. All in all, a great match up for early game players. Hiroki Kuroda FanDuel 7100 DraftKings 7100 DraftStreet 13599 It isn't easy to pick a runner up to Haren, today. Kuroda has Seattle, which is a very nice match-up, but the park certainly isn't in his favor. Seattle hasn't been nearly as bad as they've been in the past in terms of run scoring, and they've got some solid lefties to throw at Kuroda. The good news? Kuroda's ERA is artificially inflated this year, as his left-on-base % is nearly 15% lower than his historic averages. I think the Yankees are well suited for a win here with the young Elias opposing Kuroda, and I think Kuroda pays this price if the Yankees get the W. Ervin Santana FanDuel 9000 DraftKings 11000 DraftStreet 20453 The price is significant for big Erv, but that's because it's a significantly terrific matchup for Santana. Miami has been much better in terms of run scoring this year, but they are significantly better equipped to hit left handers, and I believe in the Braves' chances of walking away with the W against Alvarez and the Fish.   Catchers Salvador Perez FanDuel 2700 DraftKings 3600 DraftStreet 6257 Perez simply dominates left handers, and at this stage in his career, Buehrle has no answer for guys who mash southpaws. With an incredible 150 wRC+ against lefties, Perez should be a huge start in every format. Matt Wieters FanDuel 3200 DraftKings 0 DraftStreet 7457 While Wieters favors lefties, the system likes him to produce against knuckleballer Charlie Morton. This is largely a park consideration, and the fact that it's a relatively poor day for catchers. A.J. Pierzynski FanDuel 3300 DraftKings 3900 DraftStreet 6835 Keep an eye on...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/30/14

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/30/14 A big Wednesday in MLB. With a few rainouts yesterday and a couple of pitchers getting pushed back, some of the plays below are the same as yesterday simply because the considerations stayed the same. I took the wording from yesterday if it still applied. A quick note - our baseball product for FanDuel, DraftKings and DraftStreet is LIVE!. Be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give a follow on Twitter @dailyfantasysr.   Pitchers Zack Greinke FanDuel 9800 DraftKings 11000 DraftStreet 20749 It should be mentioned that I didn't have Greinke on yesterday's list because I felt there were just so many better options for the dollars with a number of decent bigger money plays. Tonight? Not so much. And he jumps to the top of the list. Greinke's been a stud to start the season, crushing his career K/9 with a 12.27 and an xFIP of 1.89. Those numbers don't seem sustainable, but they are real. The Twins have been real good with the bat to start the year, and while it's a little Babip fueled, they are still OPS'ing almost 800 against lefties. But in terms of K's and upside, Greinke seems like the play to me. Jordan Zimmermann FanDuel 8800 DraftKings 9400 DraftStreet 21422 Don't let that ERA north of 4 get you down. Zimmerman's been damn good so far this season, K-ing more than 9 per nine and getting a little unlucky with the Babip. He gets an Astros team near the bottom of the league against righties. They strikeout a ton, though might not be as awful as they appear. The Astro Babip against righties is an absurdly low 229. That is crazy and could mean they will see an uptick in offense as things gets straightened out. Zimmerman still a great option today, as even with a bit more luck, Houston is bad. Tony Cingrani FanDuel 8300 DraftKings 9400 DraftStreet 19959 Another guy I wasn't a huge fan of on Tuesday, but what a difference a day makes. Cingrani was lost in the shuffle of quality arms yesterday, but makes a decent play today. The Cubs are striking out the most in the league against lefties at a rate of 27.8%. That's like what I do to my three year old when I bringing the wiffle ball heat. Cingrani gets strikeout, but What I don't like is the walk rate. He's putting far too many guys on base. I still like the upside with the K's but beware a little. Strategy Note I think there is an...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/29/14

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/29/14 Full slate of games for this Tuesday so start getting prepared. Lots of losers on the mound tonight which is great for some big bats. A quick note - our baseball product for FanDuel, DraftKings and DraftStreet is LIVE!. Be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give a follow on Twitter @dailyfantasysr. Pitchers Jose Fernandez FanDuel 10200 DraftKings 11600 DraftStreet 22777 Basically have to put him out there because of the early season returns. What he's doing on the mound is just nuts. I want to say he's been lucky. But he hasn't. Luck is taken out when you just strike everyone out. His 13.36 K/9 is gross. The xFIP is 1.71 and shows no signs of moving to any significant degree. He's just amazing. The Braves are middle of the road against righties and are prone to the K. Oh, by the way, he had 14 K's last time they met a week ago. Cole Hamels FanDuel 8200 DraftKings 8300 DraftStreet 18010 Have to love this matchup today. The Mets seem to be getting paid per strikeout. The hitters at least. How else to explain their close to 28% K rate so far against lefties. That is an insanely high number. Hamels only has one outing under his belt, but it was a fine performance against the Dodgers and his price hasn't jumped too much. He's below some other guys like Gio and Cingrani who I like a bit less just for the dollars. The K potential is almost too good to pass up even with so many other big name studs going tonight. Alex Wood FanDuel 7700 DraftKings 10000 DraftStreet 17255 The Marlin offense is coming back down to Earth and will continue to fall in the rankings as their Babip normalizes. Right now they are in the lower third of the league against lefties with a .290 wOBA. Wood has been fantastic so far this year, K-ing a dude an inning and limiting the walks. The big downside for Wood here is the Braves facing Fernandez meaning his chances at a win are diminished. This will be a low scoring game. I still like Wood on just the K's alone. But scraping out a W will be tough. Matt Cain FanDuel 7100 DraftKings 7800 DraftStreet 16506 Looking at Cain because of the matchup. The Padres are complete trash. They are near the bottom of the league in just about every relevant hitting category and Cain, while not fantastic, has been fine to start the year. The K's are there a...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/28/14

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/28/14 Welcome to another glorious week. A time to revel in new beginnings and enjoy the very essence that is Monday. Breathe it in people. That's progress we are making. And a new chance to set MLB lineups. Aren't Mondays the best? A quick note - our baseball product for FanDuel, DraftKings and DraftStreet is LIVE!. Try it out and give us some feedback. It's a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give a follow on Twitter @dailyfantasysr.   Pitchers Madison Bumgarner FanDuel 9000 DraftKings 9800 DraftStreet 19367 Bumgarner is, I believe, the top pitching option on the day. He's been super solid to start the season with a K/9 over 10. The walks are right in line with his career averages of less than 3 per 9 and he owns a 3.22 xFIP. Very solid. This combined with the opponent in the Padres means he'll be a big percentage start today. The Padres are near the bottom of the league in hitting lefties. Some of it is with a low Babip (.243) but that doesn't explain everything. They have a 71 wRC+ and are striking out nearly 23% of the time. Those numbers are gross even if you factor in for luck. Bumgarner is the best bang for the big buck today. Jeff Samardzija FanDuel 7700 DraftKings 0 DraftStreet 17685 Let me start by saying that I don't totally buy Samardzija's early ERA as it has a lot of luck behind it. And his K's are trending lower than his career averages. Not exactly the best way to open about a pick; I never was the best salesman. But Samardzija I think offers a contrarian opportunity on a day that doesn't involve many strikeout pitchers. The Reds are middle of the road against righties and are prone to K. They have a leadoff hitter in Hamilton who can get overpowered and the talent in their lineup falls off a cliff after the first few batters. Not a safe play by any means, but I don't think a lot of people will be on him and he could post a solid line. Tyson Ross FanDuel 5900 DraftKings 8300 DraftStreet 15685 Over the last couple of seasons, Ross has been able to maintain a K/9 around 8. Solid. His xFIP hovers in the mid 3's. Solid. And today he gets the Giants who have been striking out the fourth most in the league against righties. This all lines up for a solid value play in the mid-lower tier of pitchers.   Catchers Wilin Rosario FanDuel 3300 DraftKings 3900 DraftStreet 6793 Wade Miley...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/27/14

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/27/14 Finishing off the weekend in style today. Games start early so make sure to set those lineups before the early afternoon start. A quick note - our baseball product for FanDuel, DraftKings and DraftStreet is LIVE!. And give a follow on Twitter @dailyfantasysr.   Pitchers Honestly, this was one of the harder days to pick quality, value pitchers. Between suboptimal matchups, early season statistics and prices, I don't really like anyone on the board. Danny Salazar FanDuel 6400 DraftKings 5800 DraftStreet 17229 Salazar's strikeout numbers are crazy high. So that's good. His walks are also completely unreasonable. So that's bad. I'm taking him on the upside today. The K's are for sure there and the Giants have really struggled with righties early in this season. Their K% is among the highest in the league. They don't grind out at bats and Salazar does have big upside at this price. He has downside as well, considering he can get wild. The price is right and I'm firing it. Ian Kennedy FanDuel 6300 DraftKings 8200 DraftStreet 14160 If you've been reading this column, you know we've been fans of Kennedy almost every time out. And he's paid his way in a majority of his outings. Today looks to be more of the same. The Nationals have a few legit bats, but their lineup doesn't have a ton of depth. They're sporting a 96 wRC+ against righties this season. Kennedy has kept his K% close to a strikeout an inning and the walk rate is solid. He's a good, not great option today. Justin Verlander FanDuel 9400 DraftKings 10300 DraftStreet 21097 The Twins are riding an inflated Babip to early season hitting success. This isn't to say they are a bad team running crazy hot, but they probably aren't nearly as good as some of their early numbers indicate. They strikeout about league average and have a few bats in their lineup. Honestly, I'm drawing this pick more on past performance which is always dangerous. Something I like to avoid. Verlander's xFIP is significantly higher than his ERA, which is worrisome. But he does have K potential and the Twins do strikeout. Seems like a bi pricetag, but you can consider it.   Catchers Victor Martinez FanDuel 3300 DraftKings 3800 DraftStreet 6754 Where he is catcher eligible, few guys make safer cash game plays than Martinez. Hitting behind Miguel Cabrera offers that kind of safety. Kyle Gibson is a pitcher I love to target in DFS because his K rate...
