And with Bumgarner and Price facing each other (and two solid offenses as well) I'm inclined to just avoid them all together. The win expectation is lowered and you can grab Cueto around the similar price in a better matchup. Cueto isn't as good (IMO) as the other two guys, but he faces the Mets who rank in the bottom third of the league against righties. The ballpark doesn't do him any favors per se, but I think it's fine against the Mets' offense. I should say, he isn't an overwhelming play in our system and I recognize he's not as good as his ERA indicates. But this is a good spot nonetheless. Francisco Liriano - FD 7500 DK 9500 DD 14450 DFSTR 7700 Much has been made of the Cubs young, exciting ball club. And I think they have some pretty great things in their future. That being said, they aren't a complete team yet, and they strike out a ton. Take a guy like Baez for example. This is a dude who bats second and has struck out over 50% of the time against lefties (small sample size). One player does not a team make, but the Cubs as a team K more than 25% of the time against lefties. If you are looking for a complete upside play, Liriano is the guy. Far from safe, but he can grab you a lot of points quickly. Consider Dillon Gee Gee   Catchers Welington...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 9/6/14 DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Gone is the salary finagling, mixing and matching, and hair-pulling that goes into setting lineups. ScoreStreak simplifies the process in an easy-to-use interface. Employing a prop-pick style, ScoresStreak leagues are specific outcome dependent with three categories: Total Bases, Hits, and for pitchers, Strikeouts. Check out their new promotion coming for NFL season where you can win a new Tesla! Also, new users who deposit through DFSR will get an extra $10 to play with.  And if you are new to daily fantasy football, make sure read our Free Football e-book. Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB and NFL system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do. Now go win that Tesla!   Total Bases Andrew McCutchen I'm thinking making sure I'm around to play the early ScoreStreak slate just to get some shares of McCutchen in there. He has actually run kind of bad against lefties this season and still has a high .800's OPS on that side of the split. He just crushes this platoon and should continue to do so against Felix Doubront today. The only thing that makes me hesitate even a little bit (and it's not enough to avoid the guy) is that Doubront is a high K, high walk pitcher. When we want the bat on the ball specifically, those pitcher profiles scare me just a little. But not enough to pass on McCutch today. He's just too good against lefties. Justin Morneau Has for sure enjoyed his time so far in Coors and today could be more of the same. Morneau's bread has been buttered facing righties at home this season. That's where a majority of his upside comes from as he's rocking a wRC+ over 150 in that specific platoon. Today he faces once-prospect Joe Wieland. I say "once" because those days have passed and now he's simply a dude pitching in Coors. Hits Robinson Cano Kyle Seager Feels like these two guys are pretty easy and honestly, I could play them just as easily in the total bases category, or mix and match them. They face a complete garbage arm in Nick Martinez and both are among the league leaders in the platoon wOBA against righty arms. They both have solid contact rates, neither walks a whole hell of a lot and the Mariners are in a good spot to grab extra at bats today against Nick Martinez. Martinez is terrible. He strikes out less than five batters per nine, walks almost as many and just generally stinks. Loving both...

Check it out in our exclusive exclusive ScoreStreak picks.   Pitchers Ian Kennedy - FD 8100 DK 9300 DD 15650 DFSTR 7900 The Diamondbacks are the new Padres. It's just fun to target pitchers against them. And you've got good reason to do so. They have been steadily dropping in total offense as compared to the rest of the league. They are rough against right handed pitching and Kennedy, with Petco Park all around him, could be in line for a strong game. He's been consistent this season, maintaining a high K rate of over a batter an inning with an xFIP in the low threes. The ballpark is of course a factor as Kennedy does allow fly balls that are kept in the park. Wish he didn't walk as many batters but, this is a good spot for him. Max Scherzer - FD 11000 DK 12800 DD 21750 DFSTR 10800 I'm putting him down on the list because I don't think he has the best matchup today and the price is a little steep. The reason it's worth considering Scherzer is that he's really the only pitcher with the K upside to overcome a suboptimal matchup and maintain a bit of "safety" for cash games. The Indians are tough against righties, but like I said, Scherzer has so much strikeout potential that he raises his floor considerably. Wily Peralta - FD 7100 DK 6600 DD 13400 DFSTR 5100 If you are looking for a bargain bin guy I think Peralta has some value today. The Cardinals, while ranking near the middle of the league against righties, are in general a light hitting bunch. Peralta is far from a stud, but he's coming super cheap with a 3.73 xFIP on the season. Again, he...

Read about it in our exclusive ScoreStreak picks.   Pitchers Early Slate Jon Lester - FD 9800 DK 11600 DD 20150 DFSTR 9400 I would love every single thing about this matchup except that he's pitching opposite King Felix and that's going to make getting the win awfully tough. Otherwise, this lines up to be a great start for Lester. To begin with, his peripherals this season have been nutso with a strikeout rate higher than a batter an inning and he's walking less that two batters per nine. His efficiency should play well against a Mariner team that ranks second to last in the league against lefties. Seattle struggles with that platoon and Lester should be able to work up and down the order. Consider Edinson Volquez and that I'm even saying that shows you how bad the pitching is after Lester. Late Slate Jacob deGrom - FD 8200 DK 9600 DD 18650 DFSTR 10300 deGrom's enjoyed a solid and somewhat surprising rooking season for the Mets. His 3.35 xFIP and above average strikeout rate point to a guy who should be a mainstay in the Mets' rotation for a while. He gets the Marlins today who won't just roll over. They rank in the top half of the league in team wOBA against righties, but the news here is they strike out a ton. They go down on strikes 24% of the time to righties. The ballpark works in deGRom's favor as well. This is a solid, if unspectacular matchup on a short slate without any top tier pitching. Andrew Cashner - FD 7800 DK 6600 DD 13150 DFSTR 5000 The evening slate of games seems fraught with pitching peril. So I'm happy to target a slightly above average pitcher against a weaker offense. Cashner doesn't have huge K upside, but he strikes out just a shade less than eight...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 9/2/14 DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. New users who deposit through DFSR will get an extra $10 to play with. We are putting in picks every night and giving you some of our top plays each day. Two are on us, the third is all you. Or go your own way. As always, if you are new to daily fantasy baseball, make sure read our Free Baseball e-book. It contains one mistake that basically everyone in the daily fantasy baseball industry is making! Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Mike Trout Brad Peacock is just dreadful and I'd expect Trout to have a day against the guy with a mid 4's xFIP. The only thing that has me just a little concerned about using Trout against such a bad pitcher is that Peacock walks tons of guys. That limits what Trout can do just a little with the bat considering we are targeting only total bases. But the matchup is choice and Trout is as good as it gets. Giancarlo Stanton Has spent this season establishing himself as the kind of guy who likes to murder lefty pitching. Like horror show, nightmare kind of murdering. He's got an OPS over 1K in that side of the split to go with a 198 wRC+ and other-worldly .455 wOBA. That spells some bad news for Jon Niese today. Niese isn't bad, but Stanton makes up for it by causing permanent damage to southpaws.   Hits Jose Altuve Gets a bit boring recommending him day after day. But if you've played him he's been pretty much the man with at least one hit in his last nine games and three multi-hit games thrown in there. Today he faces the lefty C.J. Wilson putting little Jose in a good spot. He's crushing lefty pitching this season with a crazy 87% contact rate in that split. That spells a lot of hits and he should be able to snag at least one today. Jose Reyes Our system really hates Jeremy Hellickson today against the Jays. Kind of thinks he's going to get rocked. I'll put money on Reyes being part of it. He has a decent contact rate against righty pitching and Hellickson has...
