Some aces are facing some good teams and that can really be an issue for the obvious reasons. If I were to pay up for one of them I think I'd use: Max Scherzer FanDuel 10400 DraftKings 10000 DraftStreet 20551 In many ways Scherzer's seasons this year looks exactly the same as his Cy Young campaign from a year ago. The K's, walks and xFIP are totally in line with what he did last year. The biggest difference that I can see is last season he ran awesome in Babip and this year he is simply normal. Really, this season is probably a more accurate representation of what he is, with the ERA adjusted up just a bit. Of the ace-type arms today he makes the strongest play because his opponent is the worst of the matchups. The Red Sox rank in the bottom third of the league against lefties with a .306 wOBA and .689 OPS. They also strikeout 22% of the time. Not in love with this play, but pitching is a little odd with the matchups. Scherzer is still a strong pitcher and he can rack up the strikeouts. Jeff Samardzija FanDuel 7700 DraftKings 8800 DraftStreet 19659 I know Samardzija got rocked last time out against Milwaukee. Sometimes a performance like this can be a harbinger of injuries news to come. I'm opting with the former in this case because we haven't heard anything over the last couple of days. The Marlins aren't slouches by any means, but they strike out 23% of the time. This is an upside-ish play if you think Samardzija can rack up the K's and keep them off the board. His price dictates this as he comes in below the aces on the price guide. Alex Cobb FanDuel 7500 DraftKings 9000 DraftStreet 16445 Another guy priced in the next tier after the big...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 6/6/14

DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Gone is the salary finagling, mixing and matching, and hair-pulling that goes into setting lineups. ScoreStreak simplifies the process in an easy-to-use interface. Employing a prop-pick style, ScoresStreak leagues are specific outcome dependent with three categories: Total Bases, Hits, and for pitchers, Strikeouts. Deposit through DFSR now and you'll get an extra $10 to play with. We are putting in picks every night and giving you some of our top plays each day. Two are on us, the third is all you. Or go your own way. As always, if you are new to daily fantasy baseball, make sure read our Free Baseball e-book. It contains one mistake that basically everyone in the daily fantasy baseball industry is making! Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Yasiel Puig For total bases tonight I'm heading out to Denver for some of that clean, crisp, super thin air. Puig has been a beast this season plain and simple. His 1.137 OPS is a bit Babip fueled, but really how much worse would he be? He's crushing. Against an unknown quantity in Eddie Butler, I'll take Puig. Yasiel is an equally opportunity killer against both lefties and righties so the splits don't matter much. He destroys both. This is our top total bases play. Miguel Cabrera Rubby de la Rosa came out like lightening in his first major league start, mowing down the Rays with eight strikeouts in seven innings. The Tigers aren't the Rays. Miggy is Miggy and I'm not completely buying what de la Rosa did against Tampa. Cabrera, I think, actually makes the Pug decision on total bases a little close than you'd think. In fact, our system projects Miggy a bit higher. But I'm tempering it a bit only because of de la Rosa's first start. It's hard to totally quantify that return so I'm willing to put Miggy down the list just a bit. Stil so solid and should be in your top three.   Hits Jacoby Ellsbury For hits I want to target a guy like Ellsbury for a couple of reasons. Obviously, he's facing a crap pitcher in Guthrie who really struggles with inducing swings and misses. But Guthrie also limits the walks. He pitches to contact and Ellsbury, with his speed, should see his chances at scratching out a hit. As a team the Yankees are in a great spot to put up runs on Guthrie, meaning Jacoby could see at least an extra...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Cole Hamels FanDuel 8400 DraftKings 8900 DraftStreet 16820 Feels like Hamels is an incredible deal across the industry tomorrow and he will be in cash games for me throughout. The price is advantageous considering he's facing the Reds, a team that slips in the wOBA against lefties rankings each day. Bumgarner shut them down yesterday. It stands to reason Hamels will do the same today. They weren't a good team with Votto, and they are really bad without him. Every minute that Brandon Phillips remains as a top four hitter in their lineups, you can feel safe with many pitchers against them. They stink, striking out almost 24% of the time. Hamels has been solid this season with a 3.58 xFIP and striking out a batter an inning. For the money, this is the top pitching play of the day. Dallas Keuchel FanDuel 7700 DraftKings 9900 DraftStreet 20799 On DraftStreet and DraftKings the price has corrected, making playing him there a bit of a stretch. But on FanDuel he is coming at a nice discount. He isn't out of play on the other sites, it's just much closer. He's been awesome this season rocking a 2.77 xFIP to go along with super solid peripherals like a 4:1 K:BB ratio. The Twins come in near the bottom of the league against lefties and, like the Reds, strike out nearly 24% of the time. On FanDuel, Keuchel is the only way I'd pivot away from Hamels. Where Hamels is cheaper, he's the clear play. Brandon McCarthy FanDuel 5700 DraftKings 6700 DraftStreet 13995 It isn't often that "Brandon McCarthy" and "upside" are mentioned in the same sentence, but there you have. Our shit is groundbreaking. McCarthy has seen a bump in K's this year, almost two per nine more than his career averages. I'm always a little wary of this kind of spike, but it's there nonetheless. Good news for you is that his ERA of 5.20 is way off his 2.86...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Madison Bumgarner FanDuel 9400 DraftKings 11100 DraftStreet 18594 I don't think I'm paying all the way up for Tanaka today. He's simply too expensive and the A's are a solid hitting team. Masahiro is priced out of consideration. But not Bumgarner. He's a bit expensive on DraftKings, but on FanDuel he's a solid price and DraftStreet seems like a downright steal. Bumgarner's been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year sporting an 2.86 xFIP (2.85 ERA, he's the truest of the true) , K-ing 10.5 per nine innings and limiting the walks as usual. He's just so solid. And the Reds are just so meh for the season, and that's with Votto grouped into some of the stats. Bumgarner is the cash game play for sure between price and expectation. Solid upside as well. Doug Fister FanDuel 7600 DraftKings 7500 DraftStreet 16524 Another possible cash game consideration is Fister. This is a guy who punches walks in the face. Literally. He hates them How else to explain to the 0.61 BB/9 rate he's rocking. That is an insane number, small sample size be damned. The Phillies are near the bottom of the league against right-handed pitching and strike out about 20% of the time. That latter number isn't terribly high, but it's something. Fister won't score you a lot of points with the strikeout, but he isn't a favorite to get rocked because he induces groundballs and gives no free passes. I like the price on him as a mid-tier play for multi-pitcher sites. Travis Wood FanDuel 7100 DraftKings 6800 DraftStreet 14564 While the Mets rank around the middle of the league in wOBA against lefties, there is one number sticking out like a sore thumb: 25.5%. That's their K rate against southpaws. For the time being this is the worst in the league. Wood is not as bad as his 5.15 ERA would suggest as his xFIP sits a full run lower. Of course a 4.00...

Today's picks are brought to you by new DFSR contributor Mike AKA Spetty.   Total Bases Chris Davis Davis is my clear-cur #1 pick today. Though he’s started somewhat slow in the power department this year, from 2013 to present he still sports an elite wOBA and ISO .442/.365 vs. RHP. Nick Martinez has been pretty decent vs. left-handed batters this year as indicated by his 1.31 ERA,  however, his xFIP of 5.97 is a full 4.5 runs higher than his current ERA and portends that a huge regression is coming sooner than later. Roll Davis out with confidence today, you won’t be disappointed. Paul Goldschmidt Goldschmidt is primarily known as a lefty-masher, however what many don’t realize is that he’s actually a relatively equal-splits guy. So far this year, he has a .391 wOBA and a .233 ISO. While not elite, it’s pretty damn good, and considering many of our top options have injury concerns (Trout, CarGo etc), Goldy is definitely in play today (especially at Coors Field, where routine flyballs regularly turn into HR’s). He’s facing Jordan Lyles, who is average at best vs. RHB. Throw in the fact that he has a little extra motivation after being benched vs. lefty Jorge De La Rosa last night, and Goldy makes for a solid play.   Hits Daniel Murphy Murphy doesn’t have a ton of power, but fortunately that doesn’t matter in the hits category. The bottom line is that he’s...
