If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Tough day for pitching in both the early and late slates. You are getting mid-tier pitchers facing above average offenses. This is a bit of a minefield. No real obvious plays as far as I can see. Chris Archer FanDuel 7300 DraftKings 9000 DraftStreet 16999 Archer has a couple of things going in his favor today. He's pitching in one of the best pitcher's parks in all of baseball in Tampa Bay. The park factors have it below average to both sides of the plate (worse for righties) and this helps the Rays from really succumbing to blow em up innings. Archer has been fine this season outside of an elevated walk rate. This makes him a bit of a risk, especially in terms of going late in games. He's made it up to seven innings only once in his last ten starts. The walks kill pitch counts, but he faces a team in the Astros who strike out more than league average against righties. Again, this is a tough day for pitching. Scott Kazmir FanDuel 8600 DraftKings 8400 DraftStreet 18885 The Red Sox are merely a middle of the pack team this year against lefties. All of the things that went right for them offensively last year aren't clicking in the same way. And though they do have a few dudes that can light up lefties (Pedroia and Bogearts to name a couple), as a whole they are a team you can target in terms of opposing pitcher. Kazmir's 3.5:1 K:BB is perfectly acceptable and he's continuing to cut down on his free passes. This is such a great sign for a guy who was known for control issues early in his career. I like, don't love this play today. Zack Wheeler FanDuel 6800 DraftKings 7400 DraftStreet 15752 Turned in a rough one last time around against the woeful Padres, an outing that I have firmly slotted in my memory because I just happened to play him...

Today's picks are brought to you by Spetty. Total bases: Josh Hamilton OK, so here’s the thing: Justin Masterson sucks vs. LHB (as evidenced by RHB .381 wOBA against him), and Hamilton rakes Justin Masterson. BvP is something you’ll rarely ever see me mention, but in this case, I feel like it’s justified. Hamilton is 10/17 (a .588 batting avg) with two doubles and two HR’s vs. Masterson in his career. Hamilton has been hitting pretty well in general this year though the power has been somewhat lacking. I don’t think that’s going to be the case today. There are a handful of options ranked higher than Hamilton today, however based on the timing of the LAA/CLE rainout today, our model is projecting his stats against McAllister, but in extrapolating what the system projected him for yesterday into today, he’s a top 5 option, and for a variety of reasons, I feel like the most of the important factors align the best for Hamilton today, and therefore he’s my #1 option in the total bases category. Miguel Cabrera There’s no question in my mind that Miggy is the best pure hitter in baseball and from 2013 tro present has just destroyed lefties to the tune of a .448 wOBA and .301 ISO vs LHP. Today he’ll be facing off against Danny Duffy, a young and inexperienced LHP. Duffy, a former prospect back this year after Tommy John surgery, has actually been pretty good vs. RHB this year, yielding only a .301 wOBA and .86 HR/9 against them. Duffy has been pitching well lately and the Tigers as a whole have been scuffling, so for those reasons, I rank Miggy as my #2 overall option...

Today's picks are brought to you by Spetty. Total Bases: Ryan Braun PED’s or no PED’s, Braun is a lefty-masher. Since 2012 (I usually use 2013 through present to get a recent but valid reference point, but since Braun missed almost all of last year due to injury and suspension, I’m going to use 2012 through present in this instance), Braun has an other-worldly .450 wOBA and .331 ISO vs LHP. Tonight he gets to face off vs. Wade Miley, who at home in particular, is a total gas can. Though he does strike out a good # of RHB at a 8.72k’s/9, he also gives up 1.45 HR/9 as well. I can definitely see Braun leaving the yard tonight. David Ortiz Big Papi is one of the best hitters vs. RHP in the game, as evidenced by his .413 wOBA and .283 ISO vs RHB from 2013-present. Tonight he gets the wildly-inconsistent rookie Kyle Gibson. Anyone who has read a few of my articles know that I love to pick on rookie pitchers when they’re facing well-established sluggers who hit well against their handedness because rookies just tend to make more mistake pitches given the nature of what they are. For Gibson’s part, he actually hasn’t been too bad vs. LHB, especially in the power department as he only gives up .23 HR/9 inning so far this year, however, he also strikes out less than 3 LHB/9 innings, so he allows plenty of contact, which is all that a guy like Ortiz needs to get you a couple of hits, which is all you need for the #2 spot in the total bases category. Hits: Victor Martinez VMart has always been a...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Late games Felix Hernandez FanDuel 11200 DraftKings 12500 DraftStreet 26705 I don't love the expensive options today, but I know that many people are going to be playing big money pitchers, and if you do, I think it's gotta be Felix. Here's the thing - the Padres are the most pathetic run scoring team in the league, and Felix is almost a lock to shut them down with the usual accompaniment of King Felix Ks. The only ding I give him here is that they are facing a pretty decent pitcher in his own right - Andrew Cashner - and I could easily see Felix pitching 7 strong and not getting a W. The price is pretty high for such a risk, but give me King Felix's upside for the night slate. Chase Whitley FanDuel 5000 DraftKings 6800 DraftStreet 11497 This is going to seem like a strange pick after you read the rest of this column and I recommend some Blue Jays hitters, but let me give you a peek inside this big brain of mine. Chase Whitley has demonstrated intense control this year, and a pretty good strike out rate to go with it. Does this pitch around the plate approach lend itself to the occasional blow up? It can, but the complete lack of walks actually limits a lot of Whitley's damage to solo homers. He'll make the Jays put it in play, and he could easily walk away with a very high upside performance. I'm STILL hating Mark Buehrle, who no longer really does anything well, and I think Whitley is well poised for a win. This isn't a pick without risk, but it could pay off on a day where a lot of the more expensive options don't have great match ups. Early Games Lance Lynn FanDuel 7700 DraftKings 8500 DraftStreet 16986 For the early games, Lance Lynn is my top choice. The hapless Mets have a few guys that can hit right...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Yu Darvish FanDuel 11800 DraftKings 12200 DraftStreet 24795 Here's the bottom line: no pitcher on a given night has as much upside as Yu Darvish. The K/9 is ridiculous, and he's pitching deep into games as well. Double digit Ks in 4 of his last 6 games, and wins in 6 of his last 7. Oakland is also probably the best pitcher's park that he'll pitch in over that stretch as well. You're paying here, of course, but sometimes you have to pay for insane upside like this. Johnny Cueto FanDuel 10300 DraftKings 10900 DraftStreet 22320 I've never been much of a Cueto believer, but the proof is in the pudding this year. The K rate has reached the level that everyone thought it could get to, and the control he has flashed in the past hasn't gone anywhere. The big selling point in this match-up is Cueto's opposition - Brandon Cumpton hasn't done anything worth celebrating this year, and even the struggling Reds should be able to give Cueto the run support he needs. Jeff Samardzija FanDuel 7600 DraftKings 8700 DraftStreet 18263 If you want high-priced upside without having to pay that premium, Jeff Samardzija is your guy. The Marlins strike out more than any other team in the league, and Miami is a nice place to pitch. He's definitely capable of the odd blow-up, but if you're going straight bang for your buck, Samardzija is a very attractive play tonight. Also considered: Wade Miley, Matt Cain, Ervin Santana Catcher Buster Posey FanDuel 3300 DraftKings 4400 DraftStreet 6916 Posey has put up a 1k OPS against left handers over the course of his career, and that includes ones that can actually pitch. John Danks is not one of those. With 58 Ks against 32 BBs in 82 IP, Danks' pedestrian ERA is actually a function of good luck, not bad. And Posey doesn't get to hit in parks this good that often - he's a terrific...
