Trout is a generational talent. That we already know. His OPS is close to 1.000 and he's good enough on even the reverse side of the split that I don't worry about the righty-righty matchup. Tillman sucks. He's struggling this season with a 5.70 K/9 and xFIP in the mid 4's. Trout is basically a baseball God dressed in a mortal's uniform. Corey Dickerson Wondering where he ranks in terms of qualified batters against righty pitching this season? Number one with a 1.032 OPS. Even with an inflated Babip, that number is no joke and outranks a bunch of other guys you'd label as "superstars". He's having an incredible season, no way about it. Today he faces off against Edwin Jackson who has a tendency to get bombed all over the ballpark. Hits Jacoby Ellsbury Our system has loved him all season long and while I think his outward projections are a little inflated, there's no denying that his stock today should be considerably higher than normal. Nick Martinez is total trash and yes, I know he held the Yankees scoreless last time around. It was an aberration. Martinez K's less the four batters per nine and walks the same amount. His xFIP is in the high fives. I'm all over this play. Ben Revere Not a guy I've ever played before, but our system likes him today against Dillon Gee. Revere has two specific things going for him in this format. He never ever walks. And he rarely strikes out. Both of these outcomes combines to about 10% of his at bats. That means the other 90% of the time the ball is getting put in play. That's exactly what we are looking for when we can get paid just on hits. Strikeouts Stephen Strasburg Going for nine K's here without even thinking twice about it. I'll be talking more about Strasburg in our other picks today, but he makes a sensational start...

If you have any questions, just email us dailyfantasysr@gmail.com or shoot us a tweet @dailyfantasysr Total Bases Adrian Beltre I’m not a huge fan of playing Beltre against righties but on such a short slate with so many big hitters either off for the day or hurt. But Beltre has been serviceable on this side of the split this season with an OPS in the mid .800’s and a 134 wRC+. That’s good enough for me against David Phelps, a league average pitcher at best. The one thing concerning me about this play is Phelps’ BB rate is a little higher than I’d like from an opponent in this format. More walks means less chances to hit. But overall, with the margins thin today you can use Beltre in this format. Todd Frazier I’m nearly positive this will be the first and last time I recommend this guy. But like I said, today’s slate is about as tough as it’ll ever get from an offensive perspective. Frazier is on the wrong side of the platoon splits, but he’s fine against righties, stronger this season than in years past. I like him in a hitter’s park against Chase Anderson. Hits Pablo Sandoval Big Panda doesn’t walk a whole bunch and keeps the strikeouts on the lower side against righties which has me considering him for the total hits category today. The big upshot for Sandoval in this format is that Vance Worley has a relatively low K rate combined with a crazy low BB rate. These two stats point to Panda getting his bat on the ball enough to at least raise the hits expectation. Starlin Castro Really digging deep on this one. But Castro, hitting in the middle of the order and being slightly better on the lefty side of his platoon split is a guy who could scratch out a hit or two today. Yohan Flande stinks and doesn’t strike anyone out. So Castro has that going for him as well. Man today is tough. Strikeouts Madison Bumgarner Things are a little clearer on the pitching side of things. Bumgarner makes a...

Pitchers Julio Teheran - FD 9100 DK 9800 DD 19800 SS 28600 The Padres are beginning to come out of the pits of the Babip hell that has plagued them much of the season. Everyone who started Alex Wood yesterday (us included) knows about this. That being said, even with a huge regression in that area, the Padres still stink. It would just bring them closer to the pack rather than historically bad. The peripherals on Teheran are excellent this season and his control allows him to go late in games. This is a price thing too. Kershaw and Sale are bank busters. Teheran falls in the next level and the matchup dictates a play here. Chris Sale - FD 10500 DK 12300 DD 21950 SS 32400 If I had to pick between the big boys of Sale and Kershaw, I think today I’d go Sale. I know Kershaw is from some other planet where they genetically engineer pitchers. But the price is simply too high. Sale on the other hand, while expensive, faces a Twins team that strike out 21% of the time and ranks in the middle of the pack against lefties. Sale is striking out almost 10 batters per nine and walking next to no one. The xFIP is in the high 2’s and he’s a solid play today in all formats. Jake Arrieta - FD 7700 DK 9600 DD 17200 SS 27400 He doesn’t have the strikeout upside of the guys mentioned above because his matchup with the Cardinals sets a slightly lower expectation on that front. But the Cards aren’t a good hitting team in general. The rank in the lower third of the league in team wOBA against righties. Arrieta has been nails this season with a 9.85 K/9 and 2.79 xFIP (2.12 ERA). Tom Koehler - FD 6300 DK 6800 DD 13450 SS 18400 This one is all about price and matchup. Koehler is by no means a good pitcher. He’s simply average with an xFIP in the mid 4’s. His strikeout rate is in the mid 7’s and his peripherals are just *meh. But the...

If you have any questions, just email us dailyfantasysr@gmail.com or shoot us a tweet @dailyfantasysr Total Bases Jose Bautista What a spot for Joey Bats today. He faces a retread lefty Chris Capuano in Yankee Stadium. If you are looking to fill those total bases with one swing of the bat, look no further. Bautista is in the top ten in the league in mashing against lefties with an OPS over 1.1000 and a crazy high 210 wRC+. Capuano hasn't been in the majors this season and gets kicks around to different teams for a reason. Yankee Stadium will do Bautista favors in the power department and this guy will be at the top of my total bases category for sure. Khris Davis Could make a case for a couple of the Brew Crew today but I'm going to go off board a bit with a guy who's rather quietly killed lefties this season. His .982 OPS on that side of the split is awesome and though he strikes out a ton, he doesn't walk much. That's kind of important in this format because you don't want his non-K PA's to be him taking free passes. You want him swinging away. And against Jon Niese I think you can expect him to have the bat on the ball. Hits Andrew McCutchen Tyler Matzek is a lower K, lower walk lefty pitching in Coors against one of the true masters of this side of the platoon split. McCutchen has a low .900's OPS against lefties and that's with a .255 Babip in that split. That's kind of insane and when the Babip regresses you will see him vault up to the top of the league again. Coors is a great place for this to happen and I love him for multiple hits today and you could easily put him in the total bases category today. Robinson Cano Cano is a low strike out, low walk guy as well and that's a great spot to collect hits. Especially against a guy like Bud Norris who doesn't send many guys down on strikes. That's...
