If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Wow, this is such a crazy tough day to pick out the best value among pitchers. I’m going to throw out a few more options than normal and give the cases for and against. Ian Kennedy - FD 7600 DK 8300 DD 15600 SS 24000 For: From a dollar perspective, I think he is the best play of the day. Having a solid season with a low three’s xFIP and striking out more than a batter an inning. Braves rank near the bottom of the league in team wOBA against righties. Against: Padres’ offensive is garbage making it tough for him to get the win against Santana. Homer Bailey - FD 8300 DK 8200 DD 15250 SS 22300 For: Marlins K a ton. Bailey’s biggest issue is allowing home runs, but Miami is such a great place for pitchers that we reduce those chances by a fair amount. xFIP is half a run lower than ERA. Against: When it goes wrong there’s no redemption. The longball is a real thing and it can crush him. Hyun-Jin Ryu - FD 8300 DK 9400 DD 17500 SS 26400 For: Cubs strike out at an alarming rate against lefties. More than 25% of the time. Ryu’s 3.19 xFIP is solid and his K/BB peripherals are great. Against: Cubs rank 4th in the league in team wOBA against lefties. So basically when they aren’t striking out, they’re killing you. Justin Masterson - FD 6200 DK 6000 DD 10150 SS 15500 For: Is among the best in baseball (specialized relievers included) at getting right handed batters out. The Brewers are a righy-dominant lineup. Against: Just back from injury. Wasn’t all that good before he got hurt.   Catchers Miguel Montero - FD 2600 DK 3900 DD 7900 SS 5600 Been on the Montero train for a few days now and I don’t plan on de-boarding. Not when we are pulling into Vance Worley Station. (Getting sick of the lame “train” device I’m using here?) Anyway, we are set to depart towards ValueTown (Ok,...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 8/2/14

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 8/2/14 DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Gone is the salary finagling, mixing and matching, and hair-pulling that goes into setting lineups. ScoreStreak simplifies the process in an easy-to-use interface. Employing a prop-pick style, ScoresStreak leagues are specific outcome dependent with three categories: Total Bases, Hits, and for pitchers, Strikeouts. New users who deposit through DFSR will get an extra $10 to play with. We are putting in picks every night and giving you some of our top plays each day. Two are on us, the third is all you. Or go your own way. As always, if you are new to daily fantasy baseball, make sure read our Free Baseball e-book. It contains one mistake that basically everyone in the daily fantasy baseball industry is making! Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Alex Rios Adrian Beltre I’m going with the all teammate edition of this ScoreStreak picks today. These two guys face low K guy T.J. House and both are among the dominant lefty platoon split hitters in all of baseball. Their stats are sick against lefties with the OPS’s (Rios 1.046, Beltre .918) out of the box and only backing up their historical averages. T.J. House isn’t the worst pitcher in the world. But he sure isn’t good and since he can’t generate many swings and misses, the upside of both of these guys is pretty great. I’ll have them all over the total bases category and both top our system in terms of upside today.   Hits Miguel Cabrera Ian Kinsler Continuing the teammate theme, these two guys yet again draw a lefty from the Rockies. I wrote about this in our main picks article, but it’s getting a little sill about how I spend an entire series writing about the righty batters from whatever team is facing the Rockies. Colorado just runs out a who’s who of bad lefty starters and theymake such juicy matchups for the righty opposition. Miggy and Kinsler top the list here and should have the ball in play against Matzek.   Strikeouts Homer Bailey Real tough day to chase K’s. I won’t be playing anyone in my nine K slot with any great hope. These plays are more for the middle of the pack and honestly, even they don’t excite me to any great degree. Bailey is interesting mostly because the Marlins K so much against righty pitching. Their 24% strikeout percentage is among the highest in the league and they rank in the middle of...

If you have any questions, just email us dailyfantasysr@gmail.com or shoot us a tweet @dailyfantasysr   Total Bases Miguel Cabrera Been picking him a great deal lately, and why not? He's been facing some sub-standard pitching and today is just another round of "Which Crappy Colorado Lefty is Taking the Mound Today?" Here we have Franklin Morales, a dude so bad against righty pitching that he should probably be turned into a reliever. Except that he's also not great against lefty pitching. So there's that. Over his career Morales has allowed over an .800 OPS to righties and this season it's been even worse with the number pushing .950. Those are crazy bad numbers. So yeah, hop on Miggy today. Andrew McCutchen Speaking of the splits meeting right in the sweet spot, consider McCutchen today against Vidal Nuno (sounds like a fancy salad dressing whenever I hear that name). McCutch is one of the great lefty rakers, and this season's been more of the same considering he's posting an .868 OPS against lefties in spite of a .241 Babip in that split. Impressive. Meanwhile, Vidal Nuno is allowing a .361 wOBA to righties this season. McCutch has me giddy.   Hits Jose Altuve This one's an easy one. Altuve is killing lefty pitching this season with a .989 OPS split in that platoon and it's almost entirely batted ball related. The guy never K's (less than 10% average) and never walks (right around 4%). That leaves a lot of bat hitting a lot of ball. If you are looking for multiple hits today, snag him against J.A. Happ who pitches to a great deal of contact and just generally kind of blows. Altuve sits atop the leaderboard here so he won't sneak up on anyone. But I wouldn't fade him in this situation. Victor Martinez Here's another scenario I like when targeting hits in ScoreStreak. V-Mart has a profile a lot like Altuve in that he keeps both his walks and his hits low. Of course he has much more power than little Jose, but we are just interested in contact rate here. He's scorching left-handed...

Pitchers Jesse Hahn - FD 6900 DK 9300 DD 16400 SS 27800 Hahn is putting together a fantastic season. Too bad it’s on a terrible team that can rarely get him any wins. If it weren’t for that little (kind of big) issue I’d be even higher on the guy. But he’s got a chance to grab one against Joe Kelly and the Cardinals today. The Cards are below average against righty pitching and while they don’t K a ton, they also have very little power. This latter piece will show itself even more going in San Diego. Hahn’s K-ing more than a batter an inning. The xFIP is a run behind his crazy low ERA, but it’s not dissuading me any. Zack Greinke - FD 9800 DK 10600 DD 19000 SS 30000 The Braves stink against righty pitching. In some ways this play feels a little safer than Hahn in that Greinke might be a bit more in line for a win (though I think Alex Wood is still decent). Greinke’s been fantastic this season with an xFIP well under two and striking out more than a batter an inning. Oh, and did I mention that the Braves stink against righties? Strongly consider Alex Wood on the bounceback   Catchers Brian McCann - FD 2900 DK 4200 DD 7300 SS 5300 Was getting tired out getting burned by Yankees. They couldn’t get to Nick Martinez early, but turned it on later. Colby Lewis isn’t as bad as Martinez, but he still isn’t good. The park in Arlington caters to hitters and McCann’s prices are still in the buy zone. He’s remained consistently low thanks to some bad luck to start the season. His Babip is low, but the batted ball profile remains in line with his career averages. Wilin Rosario - FD 3000 DK 4100 DD 7500 SS 6600 One of the best hitting catchers when it comes to facing lefties, Rosario has the advantage of playing half of his games in the atmospheric equivalent of a zero-gravity chamber. But even when factoring for park he still hammers southpaws. Is...

If you have any questions, just email us dailyfantasysr@gmail.com or shoot us a tweet @dailyfantasysr   Total Bases Miguel Cabrera Mike Trout Going very much the chalk line here with total bases. That's fine in a situation like ScoreStreak in which they've eliminated the salary constraints. It doesn't always mean we should just throw these guys out there on a given day just because of their names. But today it makes sense with them facing Kevin Gausman and Hector Noesi respectively. Both pitchers are lower K guys with mid 4's xFIPs. Cabrera and Trout don't need to be targeted in platoon split situations because they are Hall of Fame talents who still rake, rake, and rake some more. Like I said before, the chalk line in ScoreStreak can be a solid play on a given day and this is a great spot to utilize the lack of salaries.   Hits Tigers or Yankees I really never make blanket statements like this, but these two teams are all over the top of the list from our system and I'm having trouble delineating among their respective upsides. But guys like Ian Kinsler, Torii Hunter, Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, and even Austin Jackson offer shots at multiple hits in their matchups. To make a case for one guy over another is tough considering their projections all fall in a similar range. If a gun were at my head (which one really is) I'd lean toward the Tigers only because Colby Lewis has a little more strikeout potential.   Strikeouts Max Scherzer David Price Holy moly today's a tough day to play ScoreStreak. Typically our system does a nice job separating the clear plays on a given slate. It's not the case today. In each of the categories there are solid options and they all fall within a few decimals of each other for the respective outcomes. Strikeouts are no different with these two guys narrowly edging out King Felix, who I suppose you can include in the last spot. Picking the dude to hit nine K's though is tough. I don't see anyone as a clear favorite from that...
