Pitchers Zack Greinke - FD 9700 DK 10700 DD 19050 DFSTR 8600 Stephen Strasburg - FD 9500 DK 10800 DD 20100 DFSTR 8200 I'm lumping these guys together for a reason. First off, our system has them at around the same points per dollar multiplier on both FanDuel and DraftKings. They are both priced under Scherzer and Sale (who face each other) and both have prices falling because of some recent performance issues. The concerns for both are real though slightly different. Greinke has seen a dip in strikeouts since revealing he was dealing with some elbow discomfort. And Strasburg's been a human roller coaster, mixing in equal parts pitching gems and nightmares. Greinke has the better matchup against the Padres, though the strikeouts do concern me. Strasburg faces a middling Mariners team in a good ballpark. I wouldn't say either is a sure thing, but I think they are both in solid spots considering the prices and upside. I suppose the downside is there for both, but at these prices relative to the rest of the pitching field, I think you can swing it. Jake Odorizzi - FD 7800 DK 8200 DD 14850 DFSTR 7300 Despite some recent offense, the Red Sox still do rank in the bottom third of the league in offense against righties on the season. I'm not inclined to think many of their offensive woes have been solved, especially considering they remain committed to playing the young guys. Odorizzi's turned in a solid season with his biggest benefit coming from the K upside. He strikes out about 10 batters per nine. The walks are little high for my taste, but the opponent leaves a great deal to be desired. If you are looking in the middle tier, or someone to pair with a higher priced arm, he's the way...

Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do. Total Bases Mark Trumbo Nolan Arenado I'm doing some of these writeups together today because the considerations are similar between a few dudes. Arenado and Trumbo come in on the top of our system for total bases today because they both are playing mediocre (or worse) lefties in a great hitter's park in Chase Field. While it's no Coors, the park does boost power in all directions and both these guys could be in line for solid games. Arenado's been particularly lethal against lefties this season with an OPS creeping toward 1.000 while Trumbo's .855 OPS is solid with a a Babip dragging it just a little. These guys are one and two on my list by a wide margin. Hits Jose Altuve A guy that could near the top of this list almost on a daily basis. He just makes so much freaking contact against righties and lefties, along with some speed and all of a sudden he's a dude leading the league in hits this season. Been a little lucky along the way, but that's fine. His results are more than enough to get him in there for your hits category against Miles Mikolas. Danny Santana This guy hates taking walks, which is actually a good thing in this format. I don't want my hits guys getting free passes. I want them swinging away. And I definitely want them hacking against guys with low K rates. Santana against Tillman fits the bill. The latter only strikes out six batters per nine while Santana has a crazy low 3% walk rate against righties. Look for him to have the ball in play from the leadoff slot. Strikeouts Stephen Strasburg...

Pitchers Felix Hernandez - FD 7100 DK 7300 DD 13850 DFSTR 0 If you're an upside hunter in the mold of, say, me, you won't mind dreaming on a little Danny Salazar today. His price is dirt cheap for a guy who puts up more than a K an inning, and he's a little bad BABIP luck away from having a totally respectable ERA as well. I'm not a Jason Vargas believer, either, so this looks like a very winnable game for Salazar. My major concern with him is how late they'll let him pitch in the game, but to some degree, that's factored into his very affordable price. Catchers Miguel Montero - FD 2600 DK 4000 DD 8400 DFSTR 6600 I remain unmoved by the Miguel Montero hate that the daily fantasy sites seem to harbor for him. You're getting a lot of upside from this position for any price, and at these bargain prices, he's easily the top play on the board from my perspective given today's match-up. Christian Bergman is just not a major league pitcher, and Arizona's hitter friendly ballpark makes this a great spot. Evan Gattis - FD 2900 DK 4000 DD 8850 DFSTR 3600 I can't give Gattis my very highest recommendation when he's facing a right handed pitcher, but again, if you're out there hunting upside, you could do a lot worse than the Braves' slugging catcher. Tom Koehler allows a decent amount of contact, and a player with Gattis' raw power only needs one ball in the zone to make your day. Salvador Perez - FD 2700 DK 3900 DD 7400 DFSTR 5000 If Gattis and Montero are those crazy hot girls from college who you just know you should stay away from, but who always suck you into buying them a beer.. Perez is the...

Pitchers Early Games Jake Arrieta - FD 8200 DK 9900 DD 17800 DFSTR 6600 The only guy for me in the early slate today. Arrieta paid off huge when we recommended him last time (unless his joke of a bullpen punted away the win), and not a lot changes for him here. He's still got great K stuff, and he's facing a middle of the road Cinci offense. The big sell, here, is guy who'll take the mound for the Reds. Dylan Axelrod has had something akin to no success at any level, and I think even the Cubs will be able to hit him. Time shall tell If you feel like you want to go against the Arrieta grain, our projection system likes Kuroda against a guy whose literal last name is "Lobstein," but Detroit always spooks me, personally. Late games Sonny Gray - FD 8700 DK 8700 DD 19550 DFSTR 6900 Your safest bet at investing a decent chunk of salary at a solid multiplier today is one Sonny Gray. It's going to seem a little counter-intuitive. I mean, the Angels do have a good offense, and CJ Wilson isn't exactly a pushover. But the main things pushing me in this direction are: 1) A great park in which to pick and 2) the fact that there are no true aces today. It's important not to underestimate the impact of allocating a large portion of salary at a good multiplier, and on sites where pitchers simply outscore similarly priced hitters, I like Gray a decent amount. Mike Minor - FD 6900 DK 7500 DD 14850 DFSTR 4900 The value play of the day sure seems to be Mike Minor. He's been decidedly unlucky this year: his 4.90 ERA is way ahead of his 3.73 xFIP. His peripherals look good, and the Braves...

For their price, I'm not recommending either Clayton Kershaw OR David Price today (cue scary music). Nope. I won't do it. Going to give you some killer value plays instead. Enjoy! Julio Teheran - FD 7200 DK 8100 DD 15050 DFSTR 7900 Gallardo has actually put up some decent peripherals this year, and while's not the strikeout machine he once was, he still rates fine in that category. The big sell here, though, is the match-up. In case this is the first baseball game you are aware of in the 2014 season, the Padres are an historically bad offense - posting a .276(!) wOBA while striking out nearly 22% of the time. Just as our projection system guessed, the luster has been coming off of Despaigne for some time now, and I expect that to continue with a Gallardo W in this one. Also considered: If you must spend, I like Corey Kluber. I also could consider taking a risk of Mat Latos. Catchers Buster Posey - FD 3500 DK 4400 DD 10000 DFSTR 9300 Posey's been short of his historic self this season, but he's still posting an .849 OPS against left handed pitching. And that's all left handed pitching. Tonight, he gets to face Franklin Morales. And I get it, Morales is a major league pitcher, which means he's one of the best 200 pitchers in the world or whatever. But he might be solidly ranked exactly #200. His 80 Ks and 54 BBs in 118 IP are atrocious, and Posey and the Giants should make quick work of him. Devin Mesoraco - FD 3100 DK 3800 DD 7150 DFSTR 3000 The price has dipped from Mesoraco's in-season peak, but it's not totally clear why. The guy has been an animal against right handed pitching this year, posting a .384 wOBA and hitting for serious power - with 16 homers in 264 plate appearances. And I might have been quick to call Morales the worst starter in the bigs - Turner's peripherals are equally grizzly, and he's pitched...
