Hamels gets dinged because he has to go up against Gio (so the win is considerably more iffy than the top two guys), but if you want to go a little bit against the grain - there's a nice case here. The Nationals are the 8th most striking-outest team in the league, after all! Plus, a lot of their best hitters are left handed. All in all, this is a riskier play - but it's definitely one that could pay off. Also considered: Gio Gonzalez, Gerrit Cole Catchers Evan Gattis - FD 2500 DK 4000 DD 8400 DFSTR 3000 To be honest, I'm hesitant to even recommend any other catchers tonight, because this match-up is just too freaking good. If you haven't read our picks in the past, you might not know that Gattis has a downright Bondsian .469 wOBA against left handed pitching this year (which is good for a 1.094 OPS). AND! You might not know that Brad Hand is one of the least qualified left handed people in the world to pitch in the major leagues. Okay, that might be overdoing. But he's still super bad. This won't be pretty. Derek Norris - FD 2400 DK 3200 DD 6900 DFSTR 3000 If you must look away from Gattis, I suppose you could do worse than gazing in Derek Norris' direction. The man's got a .398 wOBA against lefties himself, and absolutely has power to spare. But he's not as good as Gattis, and Keuchel is better than Hand. Why are you even continuing to read this....

Corey Kluber - FD 9900 DK 11500 DD 20300 DFSTR 10300 He's a favorite against the White Sox today and his price, especially on FanDuel, has dipped a bit based on recent performance. I think that makes a decent time to buy on the guy. Though his last game was a rough one, the games before that saw him still striking out more than a batter an inning even if he was getting knocked around a bit. The White Sox are a good offensive team against righties though they do strike out more than 22% of the time. Kluber isn't a great value everywhere, but pitching is somewhat scarce in this evening slate and if you need to overpay for him a little then so be it. He has the highest strikeout upside of anyone going and that, at times, can be worth paying for. Hyun-Jin Ryu - FD 8700 DK 10200 DD 18100 DFSTR 10800 He's a -220 favorite against the Diamondbacks today and that win expectation is almost enough for a slight overpay here. Ryu's peripherals this season have been stellar as he's striking out eight batters per nine and walking less that two. His 3.12 xFIP looks great and Ryu generally seems like a safe-ish play today. I say safe-ish because while the Diamondbacks rank in the bottom third of the league against lefties, they really never strike out. That means Ryu will have to go deep in the game to really pay off considering it's unlikely he'll pick up a...

Pitchers Johnny Cueto - FD 10200 DK 11200 DD 19000 DFSTR 10400 I'm not a huge fan of picking up ace pitchers when they are facing another ace. And with Bumgarner and Price facing each other (and two solid offenses as well) I'm inclined to just avoid them all together. The win expectation is lowered and you can grab Cueto around the similar price in a better matchup. Cueto isn't as good (IMO) as the other two guys, but he faces the Mets who rank in the bottom third of the league against righties. The ballpark doesn't do him any favors per se, but I think it's fine against the Mets' offense. I should say, he isn't an overwhelming play in our system and I recognize he's not as good as his ERA indicates. But this is a good spot nonetheless. Francisco Liriano - FD 7500 DK 9500 DD 14450 DFSTR 7700 Much has been made of the Cubs young, exciting ball club. And I think they have some pretty great things in their future. That being said, they aren't a complete team yet, and they strike out a ton. Take a guy like Baez for example. This is a dude who bats second and has struck out over 50% of the time against lefties (small sample size). One player does not a team make, but the Cubs as a team K more than 25% of the time against lefties. If you are looking for a complete upside play, Liriano is the guy. Far from safe, but he can grab you a lot of points quickly. Consider Dillon Gee Gee Catchers Welington...
Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 9/6/14
Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 9/6/14 DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Gone is the salary finagling, mixing and matching, and hair-pulling that goes into setting lineups. ScoreStreak simplifies the process in an easy-to-use interface. Employing a prop-pick style, ScoresStreak leagues are specific outcome dependent with three categories: Total Bases, Hits, and for pitchers, Strikeouts. And if you are new to daily fantasy football, make sure read our Free Football e-book. Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB and NFL system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do. Now go win that Tesla! Total Bases Andrew McCutchen I'm thinking making sure I'm around to play the early ScoreStreak slate just to get some shares of McCutchen in there. He has actually run kind of bad against lefties this season and still has a high .800's OPS on that side of the split. He just crushes this platoon and should continue to do so against Felix Doubront today. The only thing that makes me hesitate even a little bit (and it's not enough to avoid the guy) is that Doubront is a high K, high walk pitcher. When we want the bat on the ball specifically, those pitcher profiles scare me just a little. But not enough to pass on McCutch today. He's just too good against lefties. Justin Morneau Has for sure enjoyed his time so far in Coors and today could be more of the same. Morneau's bread has been buttered facing righties at home this season. That's where a majority of his upside comes from as he's rocking a wRC+ over 150 in that specific platoon. Today he faces once-prospect Joe Wieland. I say "once" because those days have passed and now he's simply a dude pitching in Coors. Hits Robinson Cano Kyle Seager Feels like these two guys are pretty easy and honestly, I could play them just as easily in the total bases category, or mix and match them. They face a complete garbage arm in Nick Martinez and both are among the league leaders in the platoon wOBA against righty arms. They both have solid contact rates, neither walks a whole hell of a lot and the Mariners are in a good spot to grab extra at bats today against Nick Martinez. Martinez is terrible. He strikes out less than five batters per nine, walks almost as many and just generally stinks. Loving both...

And try out our partner ScoreStreak and our exclusive exclusive ScoreStreak picks. Pitchers Stephen Strasburg - FD 9900 DK 11100 DD 20500 DFSTR 10000 Strasburg is simply a force of nature. His K rate is out of this world, and he can go deep into games as well. He's a cinch for the top spot on most nights that he plays, and tonight is no different. He's facing the Philadelphia Phillies - a team that strikes out the 11th most in the majors, and has a bottom 5 wOBA (meaning he can go deeper into games and accrue even more Ks). The opposing pitcher - the hapless Jerome Williams - is only icing on the cake. Great spot for Washington's ace. Jeff Samardzija - FD 8900 DK 9600 DD 18050 DFSTR 7500 Samardzija isn't quite the force that Strasburg is, but our system likes him just as much it does Strasburg. The reason? Houston's K-happy offense. With a 23.8% strike out rate, the Astros strike out more than all but 3 teams in the major leagues. And it's not like Samardzija's 165 Ks in 181 IP is anything to sneeze at. I mean, Brett Oberholtzer isn't exactly Jerome Williams, but he's pretty damned bad in his own right. While Stras is my #1 guy, the As acquisition is a fairly close second. Alex Cobb - FD 8400 DK 10400 DD 16400 DFSTR 10300 Check it out: Alex Cobb is rounding out into the ace that it looked like he would be when he first broke into the bigs. With nearly a strikeout per inning and an xFIP of 3.21, there's really no team that likes seeing him coming. He's below the above guys because the Orioles are...
