Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/14/14
Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftStreet, and DraftKings 4/14/14 There is just so much going for us today. It's a beautiful palindromic date. It's a short slate - which means it's easier for our opponents to make mistakes. It was actually warm out where I live today, and I could venture outside with my young son. With so much beauty in the world, it's a wonder I even get to the picks. But I'm running a god damned business here. So I do. A quick note - our baseball product for FanDuel is LIVE!. It's going to be free until the end of the regular season in basketball - so PLEASE, if you have any feedback, we'd love to hear it! Be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the NBA system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give a follow on Twitter @dailyfantasysr. A little note about baseball picks If you're coming over from basketball - welcome. If you're a lifelong fantasy baseball player, welcome. I want to give a quick heads up about how we are going to do our baseball picks. Unlike basketball, contextual information matters very little baseball. Guys rarely take days off, and "playing well recently" means almost nothing. Playing time hardly ever changes (unlike in basketball where guys can increase their opportunities by 50% on a coach's whim), and when it does, it's fairly obvious. So, we're going to be giving picks each day without huge write-ups. The only thing that changes about a player in a given day (for the most part) is the park he's playing in and the pitcher he is facing. Most of the other stuff is noise, unless a player has drastically changed his position in the lineup. For pitchers, all that really matters is who they are facing, which park, and if they've been recently injured. We cool? Let's do it. Pitchers Lance Lynn FanDuel 6900 DraftKings 8200 DraftStreet 15355 Lynn has been pretty unlucky this year, and the Brew Crew had a sub .700 OPS against right-handers last year. It's not a banner day for pitchers, but the Cards hit righties really well, and should match-up fairly decently against Garza... which brings me to: Matt Garza FanDuel 7000 DraftKings 9400 DraftStreet 17013 Such a sketchy day for pitchers. Garza brings a healthy strike-out repertoire to the mound, and that's about all he has going for him here. This is really a less than ideal match-up, but it's that bad a day for pitchers, and Garza has real upside. Colby Lewis FanDuel 5200 DraftKings 0 DraftStreet 0 Sort of a leap of faith on Lewis by the system here,...

Pitchers Scott Kazmir FanDuel 6400 DraftKings 9000 DraftStreet 19851 Kazmir is looking downright legit, and it doesn't get a whole lot better than a lefty facing Seattle in Seattle. Expect him to be a HUGE start today, especially facing the less than great Chris Young. C.J. Wilson FanDuel 7100 DraftKings 10800 DraftStreet 17655 The Mets were absolutely horrendous against lefties last year, and their off-season acquisitions (looking at you, Granderson), don't help matters. Throw in a heck of a pitcher's park in Anaheim and you have a super matchup, even if Wilson hasn't looked great so far. Corey Kluber FanDuel 6300 DraftKings 7200 DraftStreet 16002 Some nice individual matchups on the White Sox today, but as a whole, the White Sox's futility against righties was only topped by the Astros in the AL last year. If you're thinking bargain basement today, I like Doubrount a lot vs. the Yankees. They can K, and the Sox should be favored in this one. He doesn't need to do a ton if he goes 6 IP and grabs a win. Catchers Miguel MonteroI'm a huge Dan Haren fan and have really enjoyed his resurgence so far, but this is just a downright terrible match-up for him....

Pitchers Tyler Skaggs FanDuel 5400 DraftKings 9900 DraftStreet 10137 The Mets managed to outhit the Marlins and the Mariners vs. right handers last year, but that was it. And they face Skaggs in one of the very best pitching environments in the majors. Skaggs has got strike out stuff, and the Mets are generally horrible, which makes Skaggs my top pitching play of the day. A.J. Burnett FanDuel 6600 DraftKings 7600 DraftStreet 17708 The Marlins are god awful against righties, and AJ Burnett still has that strike-out stuff. The only thing keeping him out of the top spot is the ballpark, which could allow for some long balls Yu Darvish FanDuel 9800 DraftKings 12200 DraftStreet 25136 The price is so damned high, but this match-up is simply too good to ignore. If you can save money on hitting today, Darvish has the highest pure point expectation that I've seen this season. Honorable mentions today for Carlos Carrasco and Tommy Milone - both of whom make fine picks if you are just trying to make the money work. Catchers Buster Posey FanDuel 4000 DraftKings 4700 DraftStreet 8171 Posey always makes a strong play against mediocre lefties, and while SF isn't the greatest place to...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, and DraftStreet 4/10/14 A short slate in hoops means all eyez are on Baseball today. Should be increased action on a day that's relatively tough - this means big money for those who pick wisely. A quick note - our baseball product for FanDuel is LIVE!. For pitchers, all that really matters is who they are facing, which park, and if they've been recently injured. We cool? Let's do it. Pitchers Danny Salazar FanDuel 6900 DraftKings 0 DraftStreet 19555 While I don't love the ballpark, I DO love the match-up. The White Sox were dead last in the league in OPS against right handers last year, and strike out frequently against them as well. The Indians should also crush Danks, so I think Salazar's a beautiful play. Dan Straily FanDuel 6000 DraftKings 8700 DraftStreet 15451 The Twins are among the very worst teams in the AL against right handed pitching, and Straily is absolutely capable of producing the W here. A cheap play that could easily produce 12+ FP and save you money to spend on hitters. Randall Delgado FanDuel 4600 DraftKings 6700 DraftStreet 7682 My sneaky play of the day - Delgado's major weakness (the homer) is mitigated by pitching in San Francisco, and the opposing pitcher (Vogelsong) couldn't escape with a win when being spotted an 8 run lead his last time out. Not expecting huge numbers, mind you, but several innings and a win would easily pay these...

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, and DraftStreet 4/9/14 A funny day, with some discounted prices on superstars, some shallow positions, and some excellent bargain-basement pitching. A lot of possible mistakes to be made today, so dive into the picks and avoid the pitfalls. A quick note - our baseball product for FanDuel is LIVE!. Pitchers Brandon Morrow FanDuel 5100 DraftKings 8400 DraftStreet 17668 Morrow has killed more fantasy teams of mine than any man should have to endure. I feel like I know, and hate, the guy personally. The thing is, that strikeout stuff plays better against Houston than just about anything, and Toronto should make quick work of Lucas Harrell. Easily my top play today. Zach McAllister FanDuel 5200 DraftKings 0 DraftStreet 14420 DraftKings was behind the ball in getting the CLE/SD makeup game on the schedule, but McCallister makes a great play on the other two sites. He's not a world beater, but San Diego's anemic lineup shouldn't do a heck of a lot to him, anyway. Throw in Cleveland's ability to smash lefties and they should do pretty well in this one - giving McCallister a shot at some decent innings and a win. Wandy Rodriguez FanDuel 5100 DraftKings 7700 DraftStreet 15429 It's just not a day to spend on pitching, to me. The Cubs managed just a...
