You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Evan Gattis Justin Upton would’ve been my clear #1 facing a rookie (and failed prospect) left-handed pitcher in Tyler Matzek, however Upton left yesterday’s game with a hamstring injury, so I’m going instead with fellow teammate and lefty-masher Evan Gattis who also in Coors facing the same gas can. I’d love to give you some MLB stats for Matzek over the past year or two, but ummm, he doesn’t have any, namely because he’s not a major-league pitcher. What I can tell you is that he has a 4.05 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP and has given up 1.09 HR’s/9 in AAA this year. I can also tell you that of the 8 hr’s he’s given up so far this year, 7 of them have come vs right-handed batters who assuredly aren’t as good of hitters as El Oso Blanco. From 2013 to present, Gattis has killed lefties to the tune of a .394 wOBA and .297 ISO vs lefties. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Matzek hang a pitch or two to Gattis which he’ll promptly deposit into the seats. Gattis is an easy pick and the clear #1 choice for total bases today with Upton out. Chris Davis It’s no secret that Davis has had a somewhat disappointing season thus far. It’s also no secret that he has tremendous raw power and can hit 2 hr’s on any given day and no one would be surprised. Today he faces off against Rubby De La Rosa, who has had all of two starts in the majors this season. He’s not a terrible pitcher by any means, but rookie pitchers are more prone to make mistake...

We're also trying a new format called Scorestreak - it's a much more accessible game than the traditional salary cap format, and people who sign up through DFSR get a few free bucks. If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Man there are almost too many options here tonight. Very difficult to narrow down. I could make cases for starting about 8-9 different guys. It's a tough road today. Tried to narrow it down here. Yu Darvish FanDuel 11400 DraftKings 12200 DraftStreet 26241 Let's clear away the big boys first. Darvish and Tanaka are the two high-priced studs going today. As is the pitching theme, there are strong cases for both. I am going with Darvish with the slight edge over Tanaka. Darvish has the more difficult opponent in the Marlins, but they also strike out at a higher rate than the Mariners. Tanaka feels a little safer in that respect, but if I'm shooting for highest total points I'd roll Darvish. Yu K's a batter more per game, and while the xFIP (3.22) is higher than Tanaka's (2.47), the lines on the game (Yu -200, Masahiro -170) help boost Darvish's win expectancy points just enough to put him over the edge. Look, you can't go wrong either way here if you can afford the salaries. If I had to choose between the two I'd go Yu. Cole Hamels FanDuel 8400 DraftKings 10600 DraftStreet 19679 The Padres are an offensive abomination. Sure, they've been a bit better of late as the early season saw them running really bad with Babip. But even as that number regresses to the mean we are still left discussing only whether they are bad or just plain awful. They rank near the bottom of the league in offense against lefties with a team .280 wOBA. Hamels is basically the pitcher he's always been. His ERA (3.38) xFIP (3.45) and K/9 (8.95) are all nearly identical to his career averages. These above average numbers are more than enough considering the opponent in the Padres. Hamels' salary won't break the bank and I like his safety today even in a hitter's park. Hyun-Jin Ryu FanDuel 8200 DraftKings 7900 DraftStreet 15906 Another guy facing a...

You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Miguel Cabrera Let's not get cute here. I was scared off of Miggy a bit yesterday because of the hamstring issue. He did away with that rather quickly, sending a ball over the fence and immediately erasing any lingering doubts about being nicked up. Cabrera is an equal opportunity killer, murdering both lefties and righties with efficiency. Against southpaws he owns a 1.083 OPS over the last year and change with a 195 wRC+. Danks be Danks, owning a high 4's ERA and just generally being a lefty you want to target any time he takes the mound. Miggy should be your top total bases guy today. I wouldn't suggest a fade. David Ortiz These two picks look similar to yesterday. That's to be expected to some degree on a site like ScoreStreak in which you are playing for specific outcomes regardless of price. Granted we wouldn't put these guys up here everyday, as matchups and park are critical. But Papi makes the list again because Chris Tillman is bad rocking a 4.72 xFIP and not striking out enough batters per nine. Baltimore is one of the best hitter's parks in the whole league, boosting power to all fields, especially to right. The two things scaring me off of Papi are Tillman's walk rate (free passes don't help us with total bases) and the Red Sox as a whole have just stopped hitting meaning Ortiz could see less at bats.   Hits Ian Kinsler I'm only on Kinsler when he faces lefties, but when that's the case we shoudl definitely be targeting him for hits. His splits have actually been evening out over the short term. In the last year plus...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Madison Bumgarner FanDuel 9600 DraftKings 11100 DraftStreet 21314 Bumgarner has been dynamite recently, and while Washington is a less than ideal opponent - Bumgarner still has easily the best upside of the big name guys going today. Wainwright is way more expensive, and our system has Bumgarner projected for a fraction of a point less at 1,300 savings (on FanDuel). This is the difference between a superstud and a pretty good hitter - and it's an easy savings to take in my mind. Corey Kluber FanDuel 8700 DraftKings 10700 DraftStreet 20448 The only thing dinging Kluber here is the Royals' relative lack of strikeouts. Still, though - I think Kluber will pin down the royal with little to no difficulty. Josh Beckett FanDuel 7500 DraftKings 9300 DraftStreet 16410 Beckett's not the ace he used to be, but he's still plenty of pitcher. And the Reds are quietly awful. Even accounting for Joey Votto's contributions this year, the Reds are the third worst run scoring team in the majors. Leake's pitch to contact approach should favor the free swinging Dodgers - who should put up a ton of runs in short order. Also considered: Francisco Liriano, Ian Kennedy   Catcher Wilin Rosario FanDuel 3100 DraftKings 4000 DraftStreet 5826 Mike Minor is a fine pitcher, but pitchers a heck of a lot finer than him have been humbled and then some by Coors Field. Rosario makes his living hitting left handers at home, and given te lack of other terrific options, I'll be playing him heavily. Derek Norris FanDuel 3000 DraftKings 3800 DraftStreet 7087 Norris rocks a nearly 1k OPS against left handed pitching, and while the park and pitching match-up leaves something to be desired, you just have to trust me on this one - guys with platoon splits like Norris can hit all but the very best opposite handed pitchers. Carlos Ruiz FanDuel 2500 DraftKings 3900 DraftStreet 4593 Chooch is nearly platoon neutral, and he's terrific at home...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out.   Pitchers Stephen Strasburg FanDuel 9900 DraftKings 11400 DraftStreet 23010 Going chalkity-chalk-chalk here. Really no way around it. I do know the case against Strasburg today and it involves the career home/road splits. He's a better pitcher at home, plain and simple. His career ERA is a half run worse on the road where he also doubles his walk rate. Who knows why these things happen, but they have. And you need to be aware of it. That being said, if you are going to play him on the road this is for sure a spot to make it happen. The Giants strike out about 23% of the time against righties and AT&T park is a pitcher's delight. Even with the home/road idea I'm still totally fine playing Strasburg today. Tony Cingrani FanDuel 7500 DraftKings 7700 DraftStreet 15003 After Strasburg the pitcher pool thins out rather quickly so a quick disclaimer: I don't think Cingrani is very good. What I'm betting on here is that the Dodgers are even worse. LA ranks second to last in the league against lefty pitching sputtering to a .278 team wOBA against that hand. They strike out a bunch and really drop off a cliff in terms of talent after about the fifth hole. With Puig out the Dodgers get considerably worse, leaving only Hanley and to some extent Van Slyke as threat. (Kemp has been worse against lefties over the last year) Cingrani has a K upside along with some control issues. This is merely an upside play as he can walk the ballpark. But the Dodgers aren't good right now. Dan Haren FanDuel 7300 DraftKings 8100 DraftStreet 15297 On the other side of things, the Reds also suck offensively. They rank dead last in the league against right handed pitching. And I wouldn't say there is any silver lining on the horizon. The Reds are a bad team without any real big time threats in the line up. Sure Bruce has power and...
