If you have any questions, just email us dailyfantasysr@gmail.com or shoot us a tweet @dailyfantasysr     Total Bases Jose Bautista What a spot for Joey Bats today. He faces a retread lefty Chris Capuano in Yankee Stadium. If you are looking to fill those total bases with one swing of the bat, look no further. Bautista is in the top ten in the league in mashing against lefties with an OPS over 1.1000 and a crazy high 210 wRC+. Capuano hasn't been in the majors this season and gets kicks around to different teams for a reason. Yankee Stadium will do Bautista favors in the power department and this guy will be at the top of my total bases category for sure. Khris Davis Could make a case for a couple of the Brew Crew today but I'm going to go off board a bit with a guy who's rather quietly killed lefties this season. His .982 OPS on that side of the split is awesome and though he strikes out a ton, he doesn't walk much. That's kind of important in this format because you don't want his non-K PA's to be him taking free passes. You want him swinging away. And against Jon Niese I think you can expect him to have the bat on the ball.   Hits Andrew McCutchen Tyler Matzek is a lower K, lower walk lefty pitching in Coors against one of the true masters of this side of the platoon split. McCutchen has a low .900's OPS against lefties and that's with a .255 Babip in that split. That's kind of insane and when the Babip regresses you will see him vault up to the top of the league again. Coors is a great place for this to happen and I love him for multiple hits today and you could easily put him in the total bases category today. Robinson Cano Cano is a low strike out, low walk guy as well and that's a great spot to collect hits. Especially against a guy like Bud Norris who doesn't send many guys down on strikes. That's...

Pitchers Alex Wood - FD 7700 DK 7700 DD 14650 SS 23000 Congratulations to Alex Wood, the winner of the daily "Who gets to pitch against the Padres?" sweepstakes. The Dads are the very worst team in the league in wOBA, are one of the top 5 in the league in terms of most strike outs, and just traded away their best hitter. Wood has been very solid this season in his own right - featuring around a K per inning and showing pretty good control as well. All in all, he seems like the clear start of the day. Note - you could also make a case for Jesse Hahn strictly in terms of upside. The price is right, and the Braves are pretty K happy. Zack Greinke - FD 9400 DK 9800 DD 18250 SS 27900 I'm going to go against the grain today and not recommend either Felix or David Price. Neither has a dynamite match-up, and while they are both capable of a great night, I'd prefer to spend more on hitting and go for Greinke. It's another time where you could make a case for Greinke or Lincecum, but I'm going with the Zack attack on the basis that he simply has a lower floor on any given day. The Giants' best hitters all hit from the right side of the plate, and the park is right tonight for Greinke to put up a big night. Zack Wheeler - FD 7300 DK 7800 DD 13500 SS 23200 I'm sticking with Zacks who spell their names with a K for my 2nd and 3rd slots tonight. The Brewers have a fairly solid offense, but like the Giants, their best hitters are righties. Gallardo isn't the pitcher he once was, with reduced Ks and a similar amount of walks, and Wheeler should be in a nice position for a win as well. Also considered: Jesse Hahn, Wade Miley   Catchers Miguel Montero - FD 2800 DK 3900 DD 8300 SS 6400 It's a less than ideal day in the catcher department, with a lot of big names facing either tough pitchers...

If you have any questions, just email us dailyfantasysr@gmail.com or shoot us a tweet @dailyfantasysr     Total Bases Andrew McCutchen Why get crazy here right? All of the stars are aligned for this guy to have a huge game and there aren't even any salary cap issues to worry about here. He's facing a lefty in Coors and that's pretty much all you need to know. But if you feel like you need to know a little more, know this: McCutch is OPS'ing over 1.000 against lefties this season and Brett Anderson is a dude who pitches to contact. This can be a poison pill in Colorado and McCutchen is in such a great spot. Anderson strikes out less than six batters per nine and has an xFIP near four. Why think too hard about this one? Mike Trout Speaking of guys who destroy lefties. Have you heard of Michael Nelson Trout? He's pretty good on this side of the platoon split. His 187 wRC+ and .438 wOBA against southpaws is something we dream about in situations like this: facing the Drew Smyly's of the world. Smyly's xFIP is over four and though he can strike some ("some" being the operative word) batters out, this is still Trout we are talking about.   Hits Jose Altuve If you play anyone else in the top hitters spot, you are simply doing it wrong. Altuve is a hit machine. He never strikes out. Walks even less and is having a fantastic season. He's among the best hitters in the league against lefty pitching with an OPS in the mid .900's thanks in part to a high Babip, but also due to a career platoon split that much favors facing lefties. Oh, and good news: Brad Hand stinks. Howie Kendrick Another guy I'll be targeting against Smyly, Kendrick profiles different than Trout (duh) but makes an advantageous play on this side of the split. His 143 wRC+ against lefties is thanks in large part to his LD% against lefties, a contact rate that plays perfectly to this style of DFS play. Should be able to eek...

Samardzija is ours system’s top pitching play for the early slate for both raw points and points per dollar. There is so much to like here. He’s priced in the tier below Hamels (see below) in that slate and will be a high percentage play. But for good reason. His peripherals have been solid this season striking out more than eight batters per nine while keeping the walks low. His xFIP is in the low 3’s and Oakland is a pitcher’s park limiting power to lefties. And finally, the Astros rank near the bottom of the league against righties and strike out more than 24% of the time. I’ll have him all over the early slate of games. Edwin Jackson - FD 5900 DK 5800 DD 11050 SS 14200 He’s a risk wrapped up in an enigma that frustrates the hell out of everyone he comes near. But he’s facing the Padres. So what’s guy to do? As we all know, the Dads are about as bad as it gets on offense. Some of it is bad luck, but even a moderate regression would still have them in the basement. EJax meanwhile isn’t as bad as his plus 5 ERA would indicate. The xFIP is almost a run and a half lower. Still not great, but he isn’t this bad. The Padres are a team to bounce back against and get the numbers looking right again. The walks are a concern but if you want to save money on pitching, this is the place to start. Tyson Ross - FD 7900 DK 9300 DD 17150 SS 27000 I don’t like picking pitchers that face each other mostly because it cancels out the opportunity at two wins (on multi-SP sites) but Ross is interesting here today mostly because his numbers this season are pretty damned good. The xFIP is just a hair over three, he’s striking out nearly a batter per nine and...

New users who deposit through DFSR will get an extra $10 to play with. We are putting in picks every night and giving you some of our top plays each day. Two are on us, the third is all you. Or go your own way. Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do.   Total Bases Anthony Rendon Ryan Zimmerman Jayson Werth I typically don’t put three guys into these picks in any one category because I don’t want to give the farm away completely. But there’s no sense in screwing around here or dancing around the obvious. Theses are the dudes to target. They all hit considerably better against lefty pitching, are all stepping into the batter’s box in Coors and get to face Jorge de la Rosa’s low-K profile. It’s a match made in total bases heaven. Why fade the chalk line when there’s no salary to contend with? Don’t be a hero.   Hits Michael Brantley Here’s a guy who just wants to put the ball in play over and over again. I have a feeling Kyle Gibson will oblige. Brantley has a K% and BB% both around 8.00 which is as low as you’ll see from a middle of the order hitter. His contact rate is outstanding. Anthony Swarzak on the other hand strikes out less than five batters per nine and walks around four. I’ll have him all over him top hits category today without hesitation. Victor Martinez Doesn’t love to walk and likes to strikeout even less. V-Mart makes such a solid play today for the overall hits category on those considerations alone before you even factor in that Trevor Cahill is pretty garbage. The only thing tempering me a little on Martinez today is Cahill’s K% and BB% are both pretty high which will bring down the contact expectation some. Otherwise, the ballpark is perfect for hitters and Martinez has been raking this season.   Strikeouts Madison Bumgarner I wish they weren’t playing in Philly, but Darvish in the Bronx and Strasburg...
