Pitchers Masahiro Tanaka FanDuel 11400 DraftKings 11900 DraftStreet 25585 Tough to choose between Darvish and Tanaka in this top ace spot. Though our system prefers Darvish to a certain degree, I think I'm going to roll Tanaka if I can fit the budget which won't be easy. He isn't a universal play because the cost is prohibitive (on both guys), but there's no denying what kind of pitcher he's been this season. The K rate is close to 10.5 per nine innings while the equally real story are the walks. They must not have a word for those in Japanese because he doesn't really issue them. His 1.44 BB/9 rate is minuscule allowing for a 7:1 K:BB rate that's among the best in the majors. This is what separates he and Darvish today because they both strike out a lot of guys and both face offenses ranked in the top third of the league against righties. But Tanaka is much more efficient and that wins you points in my book. There are some midrange pitchers that look appealing today so by no means is Tanaka a must-play today. Hyun-Jin Ryu FanDuel 8200 DraftKings 9000 DraftStreet 17600 The Padres, as I write nearly every day, suck. They are a minor league team wearing major league uniforms. I doubt the folks in San Diego care a whole hell of a lot about this because of the awesome weather, ocean, sunshine, etc. But we care because targeting these guys is profit-generating. Ryu is an above average pitchers who gets just enough swings and misses to think he has some upside in this matchup. He strikes out seven batters per nine, limits the walks and has an xFIP in the mis threes. The park is a big advantage as righty hitters have a hell of a time putting one out to left. His mid-tier salary looks awfully inviting in this spot. Dallas Keuchel FanDuel 8100 DraftKings 9500 DraftStreet 17596 Peripherals a lot like...

Today's picks brought to you by Mark Hallman. Follow him on Twitter @RealMarkHallman Quick note on these picks. The Brewers are far and away the favorites in our system for total bases today. It's rather obvious. They face a left, in Coors and are a righty-dominant squad that can rake. Consider this your non-Brewer edition of the ScoreStreak picks. Braun, Gomez, Lucroy, etc are top plays and we'd just be going around and around talking about the thin air, the platoon splits, etc. Total Bases Giancarlo Stanton Stanton should be arrested for what he does to left handed pitching, because he absolutely murders them. In 53 at bats, he has 20 hits(.377 batting average), with 4 home runs, 6 extra base hits, and 9 walks. It just so happens that Mr. Giancarlo will be facing a lefty today. To say this is a good match up, would be insulting to Stanton. The Marlins are in the top half of the league in terms of, batting average, home runs, runs, and slugging percentage at home this year. While Jon Niese has pitched well this season, Stanton's brute strength should give him the edge. Also in Stanton's favor, is Niese's line drive percentage, which is above league average. Victor Martinez I let the system make this pick, between V-Mart and Miguel Cabrera, and it had Martinez. Before we get to Martinez, let's quicky glance at Josh Tomlin. Tomlin gives up over a home run and a half per game. His line drive percentage is well above league average. While he has a good ERA, his FIP is above 4.00. The worst stat of them all, is his home run to fly ball ratio. It's awful. The...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers The pitching situation is dire at best. Apocalyptic at worst. There are some true losers going today. That's great for hitting, but because you need to actually slot players into the pitching slot, you are left with some rough choices. Cole Hamels FanDuel 8900 DraftKings 10800 DraftStreet 20711 The Cardinals haven't shown much juice this year but that doesn't mean I'm going nuts for this pick. Even though St. Louis has been a weak hitting bunch they still aren't striking out too much coming in at only a 19.5% K rate. But they rank near the bottom of the league in wOBA against lefties. That's all I need to see on a day like today. Hamels has been his usual self striking out more than a batter an inning though the walk rate is a little elevated. I feel like he's safer on a day that's anything but. I don't think I'm paying for Wainwright. Jake Odorizzi FanDuel 5700 DraftKings 7700 DraftStreet 14215 Going pure K upside here. Odorizzi has been mowing batters down this season, striking out almost eleven batters per nine to go with a 3:1 K:BB rate. That's more than acceptable against the Astros who come in around the bottom third of the league in team OPS against righties and strike out close to 23% of the time. It's tough to know what you're getting with Odorizzi who can look lights out one games and get yanked short of five innings in the next. Acceptable risk with this slate of pitchers though. Josh Beckett FanDuel 8000 DraftKings 9600 DraftStreet 18885 Mostly in play because the Padres are so, so bad on offense. Plus this game's rolling in San Diego which helps some. Beckett isn't as good as his sub 3 ERA would suggest, but his xFIP is in the mid threes and he gets enough strikeouts to warrant a play against the team sitting dead last in the league in wOBA against righties. Trevor Bauer FanDuel 5000 DraftKings 6500 DraftStreet 10863 Now we're really starting to get weird. Bauer, like Odorizzi, has a great K% which is a primary stat I'm looking at today because many...

Today's picks brought to you by Mark Hallman. Follow him on Twitter @RealMarkHallman Total Bases Ryan Braun The Brewer is far and away the best option for total bases and hits today. He faces Christian Friedrich, at Coors. All of you are wondering, "Who the hell is Christian Friedrich?" Know this about him, he's awful. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2012, and in 16 career starts, his record is 5-8, with an ERA over SIX. His FIP and xFIP are both over 4.00 as well. This season in the minors, he's 1-8 with an ERA over 7.00(!!), and a FIP over 5.00(!!!). Not to mention, Ryan Braun hits lefties crazy well. His .341 lifetime average against them makes him a clear cut favorite today. Miguel Cabrera Miguel Cabrera draws the right handed Trevor Bauer today, in Cleveland. The former triple crown winner makes a living off right handed pitching. Batting .348 this season against them, to go along with 10 home runs. His walks are down, and his strikeouts are up this season, but he's still raking the ball. His wRC+ is over 50 points above the league average, and his BABIP is well over .340, nothing we're not used to from Miggy. Bauer pitches better than his 4.20 ERA says, but he still gives up 3.5 walks a games and averages over a home run per. Total Hits Jacoby Ellsbury The system has the Yankees' outfielder as the second best option in terms of hits today, being the aforementioned Ryan Braun. His weighted on-base average is also a tad above league average at .327. Bud Norris barely strikes out 6 per nine innings, and his xFIP is pretty inflated compared...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Tough day for pitching in both the early and late slates. You are getting mid-tier pitchers facing above average offenses. This is a bit of a minefield. No real obvious plays as far as I can see. Chris Archer FanDuel 7300 DraftKings 9000 DraftStreet 16999 Archer has a couple of things going in his favor today. He's pitching in one of the best pitcher's parks in all of baseball in Tampa Bay. The park factors have it below average to both sides of the plate (worse for righties) and this helps the Rays from really succumbing to blow em up innings. Archer has been fine this season outside of an elevated walk rate. This makes him a bit of a risk, especially in terms of going late in games. He's made it up to seven innings only once in his last ten starts. The walks kill pitch counts, but he faces a team in the Astros who strike out more than league average against righties. Again, this is a tough day for pitching. Scott Kazmir FanDuel 8600 DraftKings 8400 DraftStreet 18885 The Red Sox are merely a middle of the pack team this year against lefties. All of the things that went right for them offensively last year aren't clicking in the same way. And though they do have a few dudes that can light up lefties (Pedroia and Bogearts to name a couple), as a whole they are a team you can target in terms of opposing pitcher. Kazmir's 3.5:1 K:BB is perfectly acceptable and he's continuing to cut down on his free passes. This is such a great sign for a guy who was known for control issues early in his career. I like, don't love this play today. Zack Wheeler FanDuel 6800 DraftKings 7400 DraftStreet 15752 Turned in a rough one last time around against the woeful Padres, an outing that I have firmly slotted in my memory because I just happened to play him...
