Total Bases Mike Trout The "No duh" pick of the day. Trout is a heavy favorite in the top slot today because he's Mike Trout and John Danks is John Danks and that's kind of a match made in heaven (if heaven were the Angel Stadium of Anaheim, which would be a cruel twist for everyone hoping for something a little better in the afterlife). Trout has been on a world-crushing tour this summer with an OPS over 1K and close to twenty home runs already. He kills you so many ways and will be one of the top picks in this slot today. Chris Davis This is a little riskier but I like Davis today because of the matchup and the park. He's right there to fill a high total base slot in just one swing. The HR/FB% is a little down for him this season and if you are worried about the K's a gentleman by the name of Miles Mikolas is on the mound today for the Rangers. This dude couldn't strike anyone out at the lower levels. Things don't get easier. Again, if you are looking for safety, go somewhere else. But Davis has big power upside today. Hits Howie Kendrick If you read our daily picks article today you know that we were picking on John Danks. It's no different here. Kendrick is a contact guy and though the K's are there, the expectation for the swing and miss is reduced against Danks. Honestly, there are a bunch of righty Angels that would fit this slot today. No way to go wrong really. I'll take Kendrick but also really consider Aybar. Ryan Braun Ever heard of him? Like...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Stephen Strasburg FanDuel 9300 DraftKings 10300 DraftStreet 22222 Wben you look at the Rockies in the hitting standings they rank number one in the league in terms of wOBA against righties. But when you put that team on the road you see that many of their numbers are buoyed by half the games rolling in Coors. They drop 17th in the league on the road and strikeout 22% of the time. This represents a massive difference and begins to show the effects of Coors. Stras is going at home, a place he pitches much better and his numbers are stupid good this season. Don't get scared about the Rockies. This is a great play today. Mike Minor FanDuel 7300 DraftKings 8300 DraftStreet 16879 Minor's had an inauspicious beginning to the season, but there are reasons to be excited for this game. First off, the Mets live to strike out against lefties. One can only assume they have some team mark they are trying their damndest to achieve. At a 24.7% K% against lefties, there appears to be no other reason. Plus their .309 wOBA means that even the contact isn't quality. Minor's xFIP is more than a run below his ERA at .347 and he's striking out nearly a batter per nine. The walks are right in line with his career averages and I'm seeing this as a good play today. Hisashi Iwakuma FanDuel 8000 DraftKings 8600 DraftStreet 17533 Note: With Walker taking his spot yesterday this pick remains the same. This is what I had to write for Monday's game Ooh boy do the Astros strike out a lot against righties. Their 24% K% is tied with the Marlins for worst in the league. Iwakuma isn’t going to blow it out of the box in terms of strikeouts but he also is a control freak, walking less than a batter per nine. That’s about as good as you’ll see and his ability to stay in the zone...

Total Bases Miguel Cabrera Like I've said before, could probably pick him everyday and you'd be super bored pretty quickly. But facing the lefty Brad Mills has me wanting to place him in the highest total bases slot and not really think about it at all. Cabrera, like the Tigers in general, have struggled against lefties this season. But I see no reason to think this is anything more than a blip on the radar. They are simply too righty-heavy in the lineup and Miggy's platoon splits in this regard should begin to regress over the course of the season. Kole Calhoun There are a lot of solid total base options today (Werth, Zimmerman, Papi, C. Davis come to mind) but I'll go a little off board here with Calhoun. Like Aybar below, Scott Carroll as an opponent is a guy to target and Calhoun's had a great start to the season. His OPS is over .800 and he's better against righties with a 144 wRC+. You might be the only person in your ScoreStreak league playing this guy which provides some nice separation, a concept you'll want to adhere to at times in this format. Hits Erick Aybar What I love about Aybar in terms of total hits is that he has such a high contact rate, really limiting both the K's and BB's. That's great news for this hits slot as Scott Carroll doubles down on this good news by limiting the K's. Carroll, to use an industry term, sucks. The only thing that tempers me a little is Aybar's place in the order as he stands to take less ABs over the long term. That might not be crucial on...
Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 6/30/14
Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 6/30/14 DFSR has partnered with ScoreStreak: a new, innovative style of DFS play. Also be sure to sign up for a free 3-day trial to access the MLB system and spreadsheets that help produce our picks. And give ScoreStreak a try. You'll like it as much as we do. Total Bases Nelson Cruz If you are some kind of prude and obscene numbers rub you the wrong way then feel free to skip down to the next guy because you are about to see some X-rated stuff. Cruz has obliterated lefty pitching this season. His 216 wRC+ is about as high as you'll see (Babip fueled, but who cares) and 1.174 OPS makes me weep for lefties taking the mound against the guy. Poor Joe Saunders. Cruz is the top total bases play by a large margin today. Jayson Werth Going slightly off board here but I love Werth today in every format. He's had a bad stretch but I think part of it is simply not having faced enough lefties to boost his overall numbers on the crazy platoon splits he employs. His numbers against lefties this season are real strong, he just doesn't have enough PA's to his name. Look for those numbers to begin regressing as the handedness of his opponents begins to normalize. Solid play today if you are looking to go a little contrarian. Hits Adam Jones For starters, Adam Jones hates free things. Take free trips to first base provided by opposing pitchers. Jones wants no part of them sporting one of the lowest BB%'s you'll ever see. So you know he is swinging away. He can strike out some, but that's mitigated by Joe Saunders being equally disinterested in putting batters down swinging. These two predispositions meet at the perfect point on the graph for Jones today. He should be putting the ball in play and the ballpark in Camden Yards only helps matters. Mike Trout Not exactly going out on a limb with this...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Some really solid options and value going here today. Hisashi Iwakuma FanDuel 8000 DraftKings 8900 DraftStreet 15810 Ooh boy do the Astros strike out a lot against righties. Their 24% K% is tied with the Marlins for worst in the league. Iwakuma isn't going to blow it out of the box in terms of strikeouts but he also is a control freak, walking less than a batter per nine. That's about as good as you'll see and his ability to stay in the zone makes up for his lack of K's because he can go late in games. The Astros can hit a little, but again it's mitigated by the strikeout rate. Solid cash game play here. Editor's note: Iwakuma is going tomorrow with Walker going today. This would downgrade Iwakuma for today as he will accrue you zero points. Nod to Matt Null for the catch. Mat Latos FanDuel 7800 DraftKings 9400 DraftStreet 17023 The strikeouts haven't been there in his first three starts off the DL. Granted, two of those games were against the first and seventh top teams in the majors against righty pitching, so I'm not looking into it too terribly much. A little more troubling is the velocity is down a tick from his career averages. Could be him working his way back. Or it could be something worse. This game will show us a great deal because the Padres are other-worldly bad, ranking dead last in the league against righties by a fairly large margin. I'm willing to roll it on Latos in this spot because the opponent is so trashy and the park really helps him (and all the revenge game!). Jesse Hahn FanDuel 6300 DraftKings 8300 DraftStreet 16114 Has basically come out of nowhere to put up some of the better pitching numbers around in his short major league stint. He is K-ing more than ten batters per nine and the 2.65 xFIP is right in line with the low...
