Pitchers Julio Teheran FanDuel 9300 DraftKings 9900 DraftStreet 22075 I should start by saying that Teheran isn’t anywhere close to as good as his 2.29 ERA would lead you to believe. His xFIP is much more in the mid three’s area. That being said, he’s still a solid deal on a day that finding solid pitching value is anything but easy. The Mets are close the bottom of the league in team wOBA against righties. They strikeout about 21% of the time which keeps Teheran’s K potential solid. I also like how Teheran doesn’t walk anyone and has solid peripherals with a 4:1 K:BB ratio. This is a safe-ish place for cash games and I’m sticking him in those lineups today. Phil Hughes FanDuel 6900 DraftKings 8800 DraftStreet 14799 Think old Phil has enjoyed the move away from Yankee Stadium? He’s shown a dramatic improvement in one key area and that is the free passes. He is walking less than a batter an innings, a direct result of pounding the zone, no longer afraid of the ball flying into the cheap seats in Yankee Stadium. The strikeout numbers are the same and the xFIP has dropped considerably. He is just a different pitcher, allowing his flyball style to play in a new stadium. And tonight he heads to Safeco to face a team in the bottom half of the league in wOBA. I love the new Hughes. You should too. Sonny Gray FanDuel 8600 DraftKings 8100 DraftStreet 17362 This is a situation where an okay pitcher is in an okay matchup and we get okay value. Nothing blowing me away here, but there is a group of pitchers in the middle who all sort of look alike and we need to find ways to get even a sliver of separation. Gray's xFIP is in the mid 3's, he strikes out almost eight batters per nine but the walks are a bit of an issue. The Giants rank in the...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Cole Hamels FanDuel 8700 DraftKings 10200 DraftStreet 19173 I'm a big Hamels fan. I think he's consistently underpriced on many sites and today is no different. A little expensive on DraftKings but totally in play there and everywhere else, Hamels is incredibly consistent on a year-to-year basis and even from game to game, typically offersing something close to the same kind of production. Today he snags the Brewers, a righty-heavy team that surprisingly can't hit lefties all that well. They rank in the bottom half of the league with a .310 team wOBA against southpaws and strikeout more than 22% of the time. Hamels is below some of the big boys in terms of price and this is a nice place to roll him out. Mike Minor FanDuel 7100 DraftKings 8000 DraftStreet 13143 Start getting excited. Minor is significantly underpriced across the board based on an inflated ERA. But that's a lot of smoke. He's been incredibly unlucky in two key areas, Babip and Hr/FB%. Both are well over his career averages and with just a little regression his ERA will begin to mirror the 3.50 xFIP. A good team to start that regression train is the Mets who strike out close to 25% of the time. Granted, the Mets have been an above average hitting team. But I think this is a situation in which I'll take the pitcher at a low cost against an average team that K a ton. Hisashi Iwakuma FanDuel 8200 DraftKings 9100 DraftStreet 15079 There's a good news, bad news thing going on with Iwakuma today. The good first. He doesn't walk anyone. Currently his BB/9 is 0.89. This is about as low as you'll ever see for a starter. The bad news? He strikes out less than seven batters per nine. So the upside is a bit limited. Good news. The Twins strike out around 22% of the time against righties meaning Iwakuma stands to punch out an extra batter or...

Total Bases Mike Trout Ever heard of him? He's the best player in baseball and you could make the case to play him every single day in this spot even against some of the ace pitchers. J.A. Happ isn't one of those guys of course. Happ isn't horrible per se, but the xFIP is in the 4's and Trout only rocks a 1.068 OPS against lefty pitching this season. Just your typical Mike Trout season going on as he throttles baseballs. Will be a popular play and for good reason. David Ortiz This is a matchup thing for Papi who has struggled a little bit this season (relative to his own career numbers). But Scott Carroll is a guy created to break hitters out of slumps. Guy doesn't strike anyone out, issues a few walks and is just generally bad at pitching on the major league level. Papi is better against righties though he's struggled this season thanks to a lower Babip which may come from the defensive shifts against him. But it's hard to shift on balls heading over the fence and that is in play today with his matchup. Hits Jacoby Ellsbury Justin Masterson is other-worldly bad against lefties, allowing a wOBA close to .400 against them. There are a few Yankees to make a case for today but Ellsbury (and to some extent Gardner) seem like favorites (as much as that is possible) to grab some hits today. If it weren't for how dominant he is against righties Masterson wouldn't even be in the majors. But the lefties give him issues and the speed on Ellsbury makes him a solid play today. Brock Holt Hitting leadoff against Scott Carroll is...

Total Bases Mike Trout Trout doesn't care about your handedness, or the park he plays in, or the phase of the moon, or really anything. The dude just crushes. The only nit you can pick in taking Trout in your top spot for total bases is that McHugh is a strike out guy, but I'll counter your nit-picking by pointing out that McHugh misses his spots frequently, and Trout is a man who can handle a mistake. Even if you don't put him in your top slot, I think it'd be a crime to not slot Trout in somewhere in the hits/total bases categories. Not exactly a bold prediction or anything, but there you have it. Giancarlo Stanton Stanton is an underrated power hitter. I kid. But not a lot of people are probably aware of just how badly he is crushing lefties this season. And he's crushing all lefties.. from the most elite Ace southpaws to pitchers like Marco Gonzales. And wait a second - he's actually facing MARCO FREAKING GONZALES today! If ever there were a favorite to hit a home run in a game, it'd have to be here. Hard to imagine Stanton and his .503 wOBA vs. lefties this season not being a nearly universal play. Hits Robinson Cano Hopefully you stuck with Robinson Cano through his tough times - if you did, you've gotten paid in the hits category pretty much every night for the last week. This is an ideal match-up for Cano. A terrible pitcher in a great hitter's park, and a right hander to boot! Cano will be at the top of all of my hits lists tonight. Daniel Murphy A couple of off nights...
