Total Bases Troy Tulowitzki Carlos Gonzalez This is going to be a teammates version of the ScoreStreak picks, at least in terms of the hitters. Both Tulo and Cargo are in fantastic spots today to collect total bases in bunches. They face Kevin Correia who has one of the highest flyball rates of any qualified pitcher in the majors. That is bad, bad news in a place like Coors where we know the ball travels long distances. Tulo is the safer play of course as he's putting on a hitting display this season that is out of this world. Cargo is a bit riskier and I wouldn't blame you if you went with another of the Rockies lefties like Morneau, Blackmon or Dickerson. All are in play in this category. There is just a big chance the ball is flying out of the park on the regular. Hits Michael Brantley Jason Kipnis I feel like these guys are relatively easy calls in grabbing some points in the hits category. They both face a weaker pitcher in Scott Carroll who strikes out less than five batters per nine. And while he does walk a decent amount of guys, the reduced K rate means significantly more chances at hits and both of these guys are contact hitters. Brantley much more so as he doesn't walk or strike out with any great frequency. He would be my top hits guy today and I don't think it's really that close. Kipnis has a much higher rate in both of those categories, making him a little riskier. But lessening the chance at the K for him means a better chances of rapping one out. I like both of...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Clayton Kershaw FanDuel 11300 DraftKings 13400 DraftStreet 30505 Let me start by saying that his price on DraftStreet is as high as I can remember ever seeing a salary and I think it's kind of a non-starter. I mean honestly, it's really high everywhere and you'll have to do some finagling if you want to get him in there. That being said, his expectation is about as high as I've seen for any pitcher this season as well. I mean he faces the lowly Padres and Kershaw is, well, Kershaw. He's striking out almost 12 batters per nine, has an xFIP of 1.64 and is just pretty much the best pitcher alive. Even for these salaries there is a case for playing him. That's how good he is. Jon Lester FanDuel 8900 DraftKings 9900 DraftStreet 21207 I think this is the first time I've recommended him this season. It's not that he hasn't been good, his starts just happen to fall on the same days as some other big aces and he gets pushed aside. Today though he's on my radar. The White Sox are 25th in the league in team wOBA against lefties and strikeout 22% of the time. Fenway scares me a little (as does Jose Abreu) but the rest of the Pale Hose just aren't that good and the K potential is high. Bartolo Colon FanDuel 7100 DraftKings 7300 DraftStreet 12868 It honestly seems like he throws a medicine ball to batters when he pitchers. It looks so straight but when they try and hit it the balls looks like it weighs a ton. The Braves, a primarily righty lineup, shockingly also struggle against righties. They rank 27th in the league in team OPS and strike out at a high rate. CitiField helps Colon's cause and the price is pretty advantageous considering he limits the walks and the opponent isn't all that good. Homer Bailey FanDuel 8200 DraftKings 9100 DraftStreet 17927 Readers of these picks...

Total Bases Mike Trout He will show up in this spot a lot. No way around it and you really don’t want to get into the habit of fading him too often. He’s simply too good. And Colby Lewis is simply too bad. Trout’s beasted on righty pitching this season, not caring about your silly little platoon splits. His .977 OPS is built on the back of a .589 slugging percentage. I’m a little concerned about the strikeouts in general, but this is Mike Trout we’re talking about. He could be in our total bases category almost any night. Ryan Braun Ooh David Buchanan is bad and that’s something I love picking on in this format. Braun’s been solid against righties this season so I’m not too worried about the reverse split. He’s posted a mid .800’s OPS which is down primarily because his walk rate has dipped. That’s fine actually as we want his bat on the ball and his slugging against lefties is over .500 which has me excited for his chances at an extra base hit today. Hits There are a few interesting options in this category today. Alex Rios As I wrote in our bigger picks column today, Rios is a lefty masher. He’s been one of the best hitters in the league in this platoon split. Most of the other names above him are superstars like Trout, Tulo, Stanton and McCutchen. And then there’s Rios. A guy who is off a bunch of radars right now mostly because of his issues hitting right handed pitching. Don’t let it bother you. He’s got the lefty Hector Santiago who’s no pushover but is far from elite. Rios’ splits are solid and...

If you're interested, here are today's daily picks: Check em out. Pitchers Yu Darvish FanDuel 10500 DraftKings 12400 DraftStreet 25638 Some risk/ reward with this play tomorrow. Darvish is obviously crazy expensive but he also comes with some big time upside because the Astros strike out 24% of the time against righties and rank 24th in the league in team wOBA against that hand. Darvish strikes out 11 batters per nine and I think he's actually worth these prices today. He could really post a monster against squad struggling on this side of the platoon split. Chris Sale FanDuel 9900 DraftKings 11800 DraftStreet 24098 Sale doesn't have quite the upside as Darvish, especially in the strikeout realm, but the Red Sox aren't a good offensive team and rank in the middle of the pack this season against lefties with a .706 team OPS against that hand. Basically, the Red Sox are just a blah team and Sale can exploit that in this matchup. He's a control freak who walks less than two batters per nine and has an xFIP of 2.80 and 5:1 K:BB. Those are more than enough to pay his bigger tag today and the Darvish vs. Sale decision is a little closer because of it. Jason Hammel FanDuel 7400 DraftKings 9000 DraftStreet 19312 Hammel has been nothing short of awesome this season and the A's really kind of crushed that trade last week in the short term. For the Cubs Hammel rocked a 3.23 xFIP with about a 4.5:1 K:BB ratio that has me excited for this matchup today. The Giants rank 26th in the league with a .295 wOBA against righty pitching and strikeout more than 21% of the time. Hammel is a fantastic price across the industry and AT&T Park really depresses power from all sides. Love him in all formats. Marcus Stroman FanDuel 6600 DraftKings 7300 DraftStreet 14599 early This is the guy I'd be looking at for the early slate for sure. He's a great deal considering the circumstances and options. Stroman has...

Total Bases Troy Tulowitzki Wilin Rosario Going with two Rockies in my top total bases slots today for good reason. These guys crush lefty pitching and Eric Stults is in for some real trouble today. Tulo's numbers against lefties are out of this world as he's been the best hitter in all of baseball against that side of the split this season. Rosario, all things considered, isn't too far behind posting an OPS in the mid 900's. I think these two guys compound on each other as the Rockies should be putting up a bunch of runs today and both stand to see extra at-bats because of it. I think these two guys are easy calls in the total bases category today considering many of the other big hitters are in tough matchups. Hits Robinson Cano Cano is in a great spot to collect multiple hits today for a couple of different reasons. His contact rate is solid as his 11.6% K% and 8.6% BB% mean he's getting the ball in play early and often. Also, he faces Kyle Gibson who pitches to contact (harder contact) with a 4.75 K/9 which is about as bad as you'll see from an everyday starter. I think Cano will be a top play in cumulative hits today just because he should at the very least have his bat on the ball. Scooter Gennett Not a guy I've mentioned much in this spot, but for no fault of his own. Gennett is crushing righty pitching this season with a 146 wRC+ and .903 OPS in what is for him a natural platoon. Roberto Hernandez sucks with an xFIP in the high 4's and the only thing that worries...
