Point guard Kemba Walker FD - $9000 DK - $9700 Opponent - CLE Proj Pts FD - 42.62 DK - 43.97 Cleveland isn’t currently the worst defensive team in the league (Phoenix and Minnesota rank worse) but it stands to reason that by the end of the season, the Cavs are firmly in the basement. This is easily the worst team in the league and there’s really not much hope it will get better until I suppose Kevin Love comes back into the fold. But their demise is our gain and Kemba ranks as a fantastic play for Tuesday’s smaller slate of action. Colin Sexton looks totally lost on the defensive end. Dennis Schroder shredded him two games ago and even Ryan Arcidiacono had a career game on Saturday. Walker is still crushing it in terms of usage and over the last five games is averaging more than 19 shots per game. His 28 points per game rank second in the league behind only Steph Curry and Walker’s time on ball has also led to an increase in the assist numbers. He’ll likely be a popular play on Tuesday because of the short slate and prime matchup. Chris Paul FD - $8800 DK - $8300 Opponent - DEN Proj Pts FD - 42.07 DK - 42.36 I like that the Rockets are in “uh-oh” mode right now. After starting the season on the brink of disaster, they’ve pulled it together in the short term, winning their last two and have a chance for something of a leverage win here against Denver. It’s not the best matchup, but I’m bullish on CP3’s minutes because the Rockets have to keep their foot on the gas in the short term. He, of course, gets usage and assist downgrades when he shares the court with Harden, but that’s becoming baked into the price. He’ll likely see more Jamal Murray than Gary Harris which helps as well. Again, the key here is that Paul is playing major minutes in the short term and should see them again on Tuesday. Strongly consider Quinn Cook Shooting Guard Jordan Clarkson...
Daily Fantasy NBA Picks -DraftKings Rising Stars Challenge 2/16/18
Daily Fantasy NBA Picks -DraftKings Rising Stars Challenge 2/16/18 The Rising Stars Challenge goes down at 9PM EST on Friday with plenty of starpower even in this game between first and second year players. These games are nothing more than exhibitions with defense essentially thrown out the window, but we can still look at some roster construction and past trends to find value on the one game slate. Top performers from previous games Jamal Murray Team World - 2017 62.75 DraftKings Points Murray came off the bench, played 20 minutes and shot the lights out of the building going 13-16 from the field (9-14 from three) while also chipping in 11 assists. He played the most bench minutes of Team World and actually played more than the starter Dante Exum. Emmanuel Mudiay Team World - 2016 59.25 DraftKings Points The assist numbers piled up for Mudiay with the first unit in 2016 when he dished out 10 dimes and also shot 5-10 from three (way out kicking his coverage there). Team World was very thin at PG in this game with only Raul Neto behind Mudiay. There are basically one of two types of players who scores well in these games. Guards who shoot threes (Murray, Mudiay in that case) and big men who run the court and rebound. Other top performers in recent years were Mario Hezonja (2016, 49.5 DK Points), Kristaps Porzingis (2016, 46.75 DK points) and Karl-Anthony Towns (2017, 46.25 DK Points) Other numbers from previous seasons: Over the last three seasons, starters averaged 23.5 minutes with players rarely cresting over the 30 minute mark. The last two seasons, when defense went completely out the window, the average final score was 154-148. Obviously minutes are key and of course the starters will, on average, play more minutes. 11 of the top 15 performances over the last three years came from the starting unit. Overview of Rosters Team USA Starters (Projected) Donovan Mitchell Kyle Kuzma Brandon Ingram Dennis Smith Jr. Jaylen Brown Bench (Projected) Kris Dunn De'Aaron Fox Jayson Tatum Taurean Prince John Collins Quick Thoughts: Team USA is very guard-dominant with almost no true interior size. I expect more minutes out of Tatum, Collins, Ingram, Collins and possibly Kuzma. The guard/ point guard minutes are a little tougher to parse out simply because Mitchell, Dunn, Smith and Fox will share those duties. Of course, Mitchell is easy to love in this format because he’s a pure scorer, and a volume three-point shooter who’s hitting 35% from beyond the arc. Team World Starters (Projected) Joel Embiid Ben Simmons Dario Saric Jamal Murray Lauri Markkanen Bench (Projected) Buddy Hield Frank Ntilikina Bogdan Bogdanovic Domantas Sabonis Dillon Brooks...
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 3/3/17
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 3/3/17 Big old Friday in the Association tonight with 10 games going. Of course we've got the Nets playing so we'll want to consider anyone lucky enough to take the court against them. Plus Westbrook against the Suns, Toronto without Lowry, and much more. Point Guards Russell Westbrook FD - $13000 DK - $13100 Opponent - PHO Proj Pts FD - 63.45 DK - 67.98 I mean what explanation do we really need here? It’s a daily struggle to find new and “creative” ways to write up Mr. Trip Dubs and explain why he’s a solid cash game play. Tonight he plays a Phoenix squad playing the fourth fastest pace and fourth worst defense in the league. This is just about the perfect matchup to target Westbrook who has a crazy high floor and even at $13K is firmly in play and considered “safe”. With such a big slate there is typically enough marginal cheap plays to fill in the gaps throughout a lineup to justify paying the absurd cost. But if anyone can pay it, it’s Westbrook. George Hill FD - $6000 DK - $6300 Opponent - BKN Proj Pts FD - 34.73 DK - 36.79 He was a complete bottom feeder against the Timberwolves on Wednesday and was benched early because of the blowout. I suspect people look to that game (and the general feeling about Hill not being all that exciting a player) as a reason to not target him here. But this is the exact matchup we want to play a point guard (or really anyone) against the Nets. They’re allowing about 7% more scoring and 8% more assists than league average against opposing point guards and Hill is coming at a fair mid range price considering his relative minutes floor and the opposition. Dennis Schroder FD - $6500 DK - $6200 Opponent - CLE Proj Pts FD - 31.83 DK - 34.27 While the Cavs are a solid defensive team all around, they do struggle against point guards mostly because of Kyrie Irving. They are allowing about 3% more scoring and 3% more assists to opposing point guards on the year. The concern, as always with Schroder is if Coach Bud will keep him in the same...
