DFS NBA Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – Wednesday, 2/9/22
FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Wednesday, 2/9/21 This has been the craziest NBA DFS season I've ever seen, and the chaos keeps coming. We had two blockbuster trades on Tuesday, and there's undoubtedly going to be more over the next 48 hours. That can make things tough on us, but it also opens up a ton of value. We're not exactly sure what these rotations will look like, but we'll do our best to project them out. With that in mind, let's kick things off with some cheap points guards. Point Guard Davion Mitchell FD - $5700 DK - $5600 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 33.16 DK - 34.18 De'Aaron Fox just made his return to action on Tuesday after a three-week absence, and we believe he's in line to sit the second half of a B2B set here. That alone would make Mitchell a great option, but trading Tyrese Haliburton on Tuesday makes Davion an elite play no matter what. That means he should be guaranteed 30 minutes, averaging 26 DraftKings points per game in the 14 outings he's played at least 30 minutes. That's all you can ask for from a sub-$6K player, especially with Mitchell looking at an expanded workload here. Not to mention, Minnesota ranks 19th in points allowed while surrendering the third-most fantasy points to opposing SGs. Coby White FD - $4500 DK - $5100 Opponent - CHA Proj Pts FD - 30.54 DK - 32.12 It's sad what's happened to this Chicago backcourt. Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso are both out with long-term injures, while Ayo Dosumnu suffered a concussion on Monday. That leaves White as one of the only point guards left, guaranteeing him 35-40 minutes. He's averaging 31 DK points per game in the 14 games he's played at least 29 minutes, doing most of that damage with at least one of those guys in the lineup. His price has steadily been dropping along with his role, but he should be closer to $7K here with so many backcourt players out. We adore the matchup with Charlotte, too, with the Hornets ranked 24th in defensive efficiency and 28th in points allowed. Josh Giddey has been stepping up in the...

Point Guard Tyrese Haliburton FD - $7600 DK - $8600Opponent - MINProj Pts FD - 42.46 DK - 44.86 Davion Mitchell FD - $5700 DK - $5400Opponent - MINProj Pts FD - 31.88 DK - 34.25 De'Aaron Fox has been questionable for what seems like infinity-straight days now and once again has that status on Tuesday. I think we just need to hear that he’s playing for sure before considering otherwise. With Fox out of the lineup, Halliburton has shouldered more of the offensive load, especially in facilitating the offense for the Kings. He’s coming off one of his best games of the season in a win over the Thunder. He scored 13 points and dished out 17 assists in that one, crushing value easily. He hasn’t been shooting as much as expected of late even with Fox out, but the assists are real and make up for some of that. Again, this is the late game so we might not know on Fox but it might be worth the risk. Meanwhile, one reason Haliburton is taking fewer shots is that others in the Kings starting lineup are picking up more of the usage. One of those guys is Mitchell who’s been drawing the starts in Fox’s place over the last week-plus. He’s played 35 or more minutes in each of the last three, taking 17 shots a game and averaging more than 20 points. From a fantasy perspective, Mitchell is definitely scoring dependent which can lead to some fluctuation in his value, but the DraftKings price is still too cheap if he’s running with the starters once again. Shooting Guard Jalen Suggs FD - $5500 DK - $6000Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 30.28 DK - 33.1 Suggs has been solid of late with the Magic pushing him to around 33 minutes in close games. Sure, they struggle to stay in close ones sometimes, but that shouldn’t be as big an issue against the Blazers who are in a bit of a state of flux right now. Over the last four, Suggs is averaging 14 points, with more than six rebounds and four assists. He’s also able to get after it a...

Point Guard Tre Mann FD - $4900 DK - $4100Opponent - SACProj Pts FD - 30.34 DK - 32.49 Sure, the Thunder stink. But that doesn’t mean we can’t load up on some of their guys in DFS and that’s exactly what we’re going to do here on Saturday. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out of the lineup, it’s opened up considerable opportunity down the line and there are players getting a ton more minutes with a high usage rate. One of those dudes is Tre Mann who’s effectively playing shooting guard for this team with Josh Giddey running point. Mann took a team-high 17 shots on Friday in the win over the Pacers though he struggled to make any, knocking down only four and scoring just nine points. That being said, the minutes and opportunity are here for him and the price is right, especially on DraftKings. I’m going back to the well considering how good the matchup is against the Kings. Tyrese Haliburton FD - $7600 DK - $8400Opponent - OKCProj Pts FD - 42.62 DK - 44.72 De'Aaron Fox has been questionable for something like infinity straight games now so I think, at this point, we just need to operate like he’s out until expressly told otherwise. Fox being out of the mix obviously gives Haliburton most of the opportunity running the offense though the results have been a bit mixed over the short term. He hasn’t found his shot as much recently, a weird trend considering the usage rates he’s had in the past with Fox off the court. But it’s “helped” to stagnate the price some as well. I still think the opportunity should be there if he’s running the points and he does have a 38-point game not too far back in the game log. If Fox is out I’m running Haliburton again with the hope that the shot volume picks up some. Shooting Guard Josh Giddey FD - $6500 DK - $7600Opponent - SACProj Pts FD - 39.42 DK - 43.42 Giddey is likely to be a popular play once again, especially on FanDuel where the price is way, way too low. With SGA out he’s running the...

Point Guard Luka Doncic FD - $11400 DK - $11900Opponent - PHIProj Pts FD - 55.69 DK - 61.61 I don’t like the matchup against Philly at all, but it’s hard to fade Luka at this point with the kind of numbers he’s putting up. He’s coming off a 40 point, 10 assist game that saw him run 43 minutes in all in the overtime loss to the Thunder. And he’s now scored 30 or more points in each of the last three games. With Kristaps Porzingis banged up, Luka’s usage does tick up a bit and we are seeing some of the results. Again, the 76ers aren’t a good DFS matchup at all, running a slow pace and playing above-average defense, but I still like Luka as a clear pay-up on this Friday slate. Brandon Goodwin FD - $4500 DK - $4100Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 33.18 DK - 34.67 It looks like Brandon Goodwin will get the start once again for the Cavaliers with Darius Garland still on the shelf. Goodwin played 32 minutes last time around in this role, though Cleveland did end up losing to the Rockets on the road. He had a balanced line with seven points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. That was more than enough to play as a value on these price points. This matchup against Charlotte isn’t quite as choice as the Rockets, but they still run a very fast pace, second quickest in the league. That should provide Goodwin enough volume as long as the minutes stay in line with last game. Shooting Guard Josh Giddey FD - $6000 DK - $7700Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 38.22 DK - 42.08 With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the shelf, much more of the offensive load falls on Josh Giddey’s shoulders, and that’s a good thing for us when trying to round out DFS lineups. I think the DraftKings’ price is a little steep here, but the FanDuel salary looks just right. Over the last two games with SGA out, Giddey is averaging 14 points, 9.5 rebounds, and seven assists in all. A key to his DFS production and safety is how balanced he looks...

Point Guard Spencer Dinwiddie FD - $6300 DK - $5900Opponent - MILProj Pts FD - 34.25 DK - 37.83 It’s really been a struggle this season for Dinwiddie who hasn’t exactly gotten into sync with Bradley Beal when both are on the court at the same time. There are even rumors that he could be moved at the trade deadline. But it’s worth noting that when Beal is off the court, Dinwiddie has been perfectly fine on a fantasy level. When Beal missed a three-game stretch earlier in the month, Dinwiddie was excellent, averaging 21 points, seven assists, and a steal in that run. And the Wizards won two out of the three games as well. I think even though there is blowout risk against a good Bucks’ team, the prices on Dinwiddie haven’t adjusted to Beal being out here. Stephen Curry FD - $9300 DK - $10200Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 48.03 DK - 52.74 Curry is coming off a monster game on Monday against the Rockets which the Warriors ended up winning going away. He played 38 minutes and dropped 40 points on a whopping 13-23 shooting while also going 7-14 from beyond the arc. Steph chipped in nine assists as well. Now, he’s on the back-to-back which has me a little concerned about how much Steve Kerr actually decides to run him. But he gets a good matchup against the Spurs and Klay Thompson is sitting this one out as well. The rough shooting over the course of January Steph’s price down some on FanDuel so I think we can buy here without all that much hesitation. Shooting Guard Zach LaVine FD - $8000 DK - $8800Opponent - ORLProj Pts FD - 40.54 DK - 44.63 Lavine is coming just a little too cheap on FanDuel, though I’d be a bit hesitant to outright play him on DraftKings pushing $9K. He’s maintained a higher floor since coming back from injury with the Bulls still struggling to stay healthy in their original rotations. In closer games, he’s going to run about 36-37 minutes and over the last four games is averaging 24 points, six rebounds, and five rebounds. We’ll take...

Point Guard Stephen Curry FD - $9500 DK - $10500Opponent - BKNProj Pts FD - 47.53 DK - 52.17 Stephen Curry went through an extended shooting slump that’s seen him hit only 31% of his threes over the course of the month of January. For the greatest shooter of all time, that’s positively pedestrian. So it was a welcome sign to see him turn things around last game, knocking down 6-10 from beyond the arc on Thursday against the Timberwolves. Now he’ll face a Nets’ team that isn’t exactly amazing around the perimeter with their defense. The price on Curry, especially on FanDuel, has dropped enough to put him right there in cash games. With some potential savings thanks to injury situations on other teams, I think we are going to be able to fit multiple superstars in lineups on Saturday. Tyrese Maxey FD - $6000 DK - $6600Opponent - SACProj Pts FD - 32.41 DK - 34.6 Seth Curry might come back for this game which would cut into the projection some, but Maxed has been so good over the last month and is running major minutes for the 76ers right now. He’s played 35 or more in each of the last five games, topping 39 in three of them. Over the month of January, Maxey is averaging more than 15 points a game, with five assists, four rebounds, and a bit on the defensive end as well. The price is just too low for how much he’s playing right now even if the offense runs through Joel Embiid. Shooting Guard James Harden FD - $10200 DK - $11200Opponent - GSProj Pts FD - 52.69 DK - 58.07 The Nets are on the road here against the Warriors which will bring Kyrie Irving back into the mix. While that takes away some of the usage for Harden, it does also lighten the burden on him from a fatigue standpoint and also makes the team more competitive. Harden is more than capable of putting up big numbers even with Irving around. In their previous four away games, Harden averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 7.5 assists. That’s just about getting the job done...
