He draws one of the best DFS matchups around against the Indiana Pacers who are tied for the fastest pace in the league. The game total is sitting at a whopping 247, significantly above every other game on the slate save one. SGA has put himself in the MVP discussion by averaging 31 points, 6.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.1 steals + blocks. It’s an overwhelming line stacked with a game that could be a track meet. Jalen Brunson FD - $8900 DK - $8500Opponent - WASProj Pts FD - 45.97 DK - 48.49 The Thunder get to play the Pacers, and the Knicks run up against the Wizards. Washington is one of the best DFS matchups around, running the fastest pace (tied with the Pacers) while also ranking second-to-last in defensive efficiency. It’s the perfect meeting point when trying to round out DFS rosters. Jalen Brunson is coming off back-to-back 30-point games in the last two and is averaging career-highs in points and assists. Sitting below $9K on both sites, he’s a cash game play for sure. Kevin Huerter FD - $5500 DK - $5200Opponent - INDProj Pts FD - 30.85 DK - 33.39 We will need some cheaper options for this slate in order to roster the SGAs and Brunsons of the world. Kevin Huerter (mostly) fits the bill here, coming in the $5K range on both sites. He’s reentered the Kings’ starting lineup for the last two games, playing 39 and 26 minutes, respectively. Foul trouble bit him a bit last game, but in general he’s been solid, putting up 23 shots in that span. With a fast-paced game coming against the Pacers, the shot volume should be there for Huerter who definitely needs to knock down threes in order to hit value. Sure, they are off the insane losing streak, but this team stinks. Anthony Edwards is the prize here, considering the usage should be there, and the matchup won’t provide much resistance.  He’s averaging 26 points, 4.9 assists, and 5.4 rebounds on the season on 46/39/84 splits. He has to score and the Pistons have to stay in the game to avoid the blowout, but Edwards is a core cash game play this slate. Meanwhile, Mike Conley isn’t a candidate to push the minutes into the mid-30s, but he can get the job done at around 30 with these prices. He doesn’t take many shots (about seven per game over the last month) so you’ll need the assists to get there. He has double-digit dimes in two of the previous three games, handing out about 6.5 per game on the season. The key here is that the opponent is weak and he’s priced in the lower middle tier which helps round out lineups. D'Angelo Russell FD - $6500 DK - $6000Opponent - DALProj Pts FD - 33.2 DK - 36.53 D'Angelo Russell rejoined this starting lineup last game (at full strength), and from a fantasy perspective, it was mostly a hit. He scored 14 points while adding in six assists, two rebounds, and three steal+blocks in his 36 minutes. Sharing the court with LeBron James and Anthony Davis means the usage won’t be through the roof, but he’s priced like he’s still coming off the bench. Against the Mavericks, this is a good spot to roster D'Angelo Russell, who can hopefully hold up on the defensive end against Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in order to keep the minutes there. He’ll have another shot at a volume-scoring game against a top-10 pace team in the Kings, who rank bottom-10 on the defensive end. Fred VanVleet FD - $8500 DK - $7900Opponent - DETProj Pts FD - 41.96 DK - 44.61 The Rockets draw a dream matchup against the Pistons on Friday, with Detroit among the worst teams we’ve really ever seen. They got off the epic losing streak and have started a new one. The Pistons are the second-worst defense in the league and really can’t stop anyone. Meanwhile, Fred VanVleet has seen the usage tick up over the last couple of games, taking 19 and 22 shots, respectively. He’d seen things really dip before that, averaging just 10.25 shots per game over the previous four. But seeing as how this is a smash spot for the Rockets, I’m willing to trust the short-term sample and the opponent to have FVV in the cash game mix. The price is right on both sites. Tre Jones FD - $1 DK - $6200Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 29.24 DK - 31.4 Tre Jones was a popular play last time out. Now that’s he locked into the starting point guard duties for the Spurs. It was a bit disappointing, finishing with 11 points, five assists, and two rebounds, but that was in large part because the minutes were buzzed off in a San Antonio blowout of the Pistons. Here, things should remain closer against the Hornets who are also a good matchup, playing the third-worst defense in the NBA. The price is climbing, but in a matchup against the Jazz, it isn’t all the way there and he can still be played in cash games. Fred VanVleet FD - $8400 DK - $8600Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 42.21 DK - 45.36 The Rockets get one of the best DFS matchups around, facing off against the Hawks who rank 27th in defensive efficiency and third in pace. It should be a massive uptick for the Rockets guys here and the 235 over/under is one of the highest you’ll see Houston have all year. VanVleet is a candidate to play huge minutes in close games, having run 39+ in basically every game over the last month. Few other players have that type of floor, well, on the floor. I suspect he’s a popular play on this slate because of the matchup. Considerations: Alex Caruso (FD 5300 DK 5100) could be in play here seeing as how value plays might be few and far between. Pricing has tightened on both sites and guys in this $5K range who play 30+ minutes are looking a bit more valuable now. We are going to mention other Rockets and along with them, Jalen Green (FD 6200 DK 6400) is definitely in play against the Hawks. Even thinking about stacking these two guards on this slate would make sense, considering the matchup. The Pistons play the fifth-worst defense in the league and run a top-5 pace. That’s coming close to the sweet spot for where we want to be in cash games. Trae Young is the highlight here, and you’ll have to pay top-tier prices. But he’s averaging career-highs with 28 points and 10.8 assists a game. There isn’t as much for Dejounte Murray after that, but the 20/ 5.5 / 4.4 line with nearly two blocks + steals does get the job done on FanDuel, at least in this pricing tier. Cade Cunningham FD - $8200 DK - $8200Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 38.39 DK - 42.45 Speaking of great DFS matchups, the Pistons arguably get an even better one (than playing themselves) going the other direction with the Hawks on Monday. Atlanta has the second-worst defense in the league with the second-fastest pace. This game has the second-highest total on the slate (243.5), though Atlanta is -11 favorites, which (again) puts the Pistons in the blowout zone. But if you think there’s any way they keep things close-ish then there is upside on Cade Cunningham’s price. He’s getting up 19 shots per game, shooting better from three and getting to the line as well. The team stinks, but he’ s a DFS play for sure. The game has the highest over/under (244) of the slate by a wide margin and when it comes to scoring, this could be the spot. Of course, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the main attraction here, averaging 30.4 points and 6.2 assists on the season along with 3.7 steals + blocks. The defensive stats give him a high ceiling on FanDuel with the minutes among the best in the league when games are close. This is likely where to start cash game builds in the upper tier and he could see a lot of ownership on both sites even with the understanding that he’s very expensive. Anfernee Simons FD - $8300 DK - $7800Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 48 DK - 52.4 One caveat I have with Anfernee Simons on this slate is that running him in cash games is under the assumption that Malcolm Brogdon continues to sit out. If that’s the case then Simons has an incredibly high floor. He’s averaged 37 minutes a game since returning from injury and in that stretch is putting up 32 points and 5.3 assists while taking close to 24 shots a contest. The usage is nuts and the minutes are there. The price hasn’t caught up really and he’s taking on a very weak Utah Jazz defensive unit. Collin Sexton FD - $5400 DK - $5700Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 28.69 DK - 31.61 Jordan Clarkson and Keyonte George are both out and that’s going to likely mean all of the minutes for Colin Sexton on Thursday. He started Wednesday’s game against the Knicks and led the team in shots with 18. Sexton finished with a team-high 26 points while adding in seven assists.
