Pitchers Julio Urías FD - P 9800 DK - SP 9900 Opponent - CIN (Hunter Greene) Park - LADFD - 39.15 DK - 21.11 Urias doesn’t play until the last game on the slate, but that shouldn’t matter for our purposes here. He’s in a tremendous spot against the Reds, and the Dodgers are the biggest favorites on the slate, sitting at -250 at home. Urias, for sure, had a weird first outing of the season, striking out no batters and lasting only two innings. But I’m not letting that dissuade me too much here going against the Reds, and this is a guy who was a 9.5 K/9 guy last year with an xFIP in the 3’s. The deal is too good to pass up, on DraftKings especially. Hyun Jin Ryu FD - P 10800 DK - SP 8500 Opponent - OAK (Paul Blackburn) Park - TORFD - 34.06 DK - 17.83 I hate the FanDuel price, but the DraftKings salary is definitely in play. He’s the second-biggest implied odds favorite for the win on this slate with the Blue Jays sitting at -233 at home against the Athletics. Ryu isn’t a huge K guy for his career, getting by on limiting the long ball and rarely walking batters over the last few years. This Oakland offense isn’t one you worry about and there’s a chance that Ryu can dial up some swing and miss stuff. Again, we are mostly looking at a DK play here with the FD price a bit out of bounds. Trevor Rogers FD 7100 DK 9200 Opponent - PHI (Ranger Suárez) Park - PHIFD - 32.8 DK - 17.61 Jameson Taillon FD 8600 DK 7000 Opponent - BAL (Tyler Wells) Park - BALFD - 32.53 DK - 17.09 I’m putting these two guys together because I think they are mispriced on FanDuel and DraftKings respectively. Rogers doesn’t have a great matchup against the Phillies, but the $7000 price tag on FanDuel is simply too low for a dude who’s struck out almost 11 batters per nine over his first 166 innings and has a career 3.59 xFIP. Paying this salary on a day with a ton of bats really helps round out lineups. And then there is Taillon who is a -188 road favorite against a weaker Orioles team. Point Guard / Shooting Guard Jalen Brunson FD - $7300 DK - $7200Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 36.72 DK - 37.68 The Mavs are going to be without Luka Doncic in this game and it’s going to be uphill sledding against the Utah Jazz, at least for the first game or two. It stands to reason that Brunson, at least to start, will take over a significant amount of the offensive load. With Doncic off the court this season, Brunson has a 27% usage rate, the highest on the team among the remaining Mavs. He’s a candidate to play a lot of minutes as long as the game stays close and much of the production will go his way. Yes, the price had time to climb on the back of the injury news, but it likely didn’t move enough here even in a tough matchup. Spencer Dinwiddie FD - $6900 DK - $6300Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 35.24 DK - 36.72 Along the same lines, it sure seems like Dinwiddie is in line to start here or at least play a ton of minutes off the bench. Of course, the Mavs could go with a setup that exists a bit more about Brunson’s offensive engine (such as it were), but they have almost no other offensive creators at this point. It makes it seem like Dinwiddie would then be in line for a bunch of minutes almost no matter what. The run wasn’t there for him down the stretch of the season, but this was a very different Dallas team. I think in this case we can consider paying something of a premium on his production. The DraftKings price is much easier to stomach. Donovan Mitchell FD - $8200 DK - $8100Opponent - DALProj Pts FD - 45.42 DK - 47.42 The Mavericks are going to be without Luka Doncic and, from a game perspective, that’s going to put the Jazz in an extraordinary spot to take advantage early in this series. We should see Mitchell work to put a stamp on this thing early and there’s a good chance that if the game is close he pushes towards...

Pitchers Carlos Rodón FD 10100 DK 9800 Opponent - CLE (Zach Plesac) Park - CLEFD - 37.7 DK - 20.91 I hate the matchup against Cleveland but just about everything else is working for Rodon. For starters, if his first game of the year can be believed, then the 2021 stats weren’t a fluke at all. In his first outing with the Giants, Rodon came out and struck out 12 batters in just five innings. It was a lights-out performance that solidified the idea that the changes he made in his approach were going to carry over to this season. Frankly, it was awesome. If he is operating on this ace level, and it sure seems like he is, then the price is simply too low independent of who he has to face while on the mound. The Giants are -153 road favorites in this game with the over/under set at 8. It’s still a good spot and we might look back and wonder how we're ever getting Rodon this *cheap*. Freddy Peralta FD 9900 DK 10000 Opponent - STL (Miles Mikolas) Park - STLFD - 37.01 DK - 20.11 On the other side of this coin was the first game from Freddy Peralta. He struggled some out of the gate, walking four batters in his first four innings against the Cubs. Sure, he struck out six batters as well in that stretch, as a reminder of his swing-and-miss stuff. But the control is definitely a concern. I don’t mind the matchup against the Cardinals here though they don’t strike out a ton as a team (17% this season, fourth-least in the majors). But like Rodon, I do think we are still buying a bit low on the potential K upside just because of his track record. MacKenzie Gore FD 6400 DK 5000 Opponent - ATL (Kyle Wright) Park - ATLFD - 27.78 DK - 13.74 If looking for a speculative play with some upside, Gore might be the guy. He’s set to make the start for the Padres, replacing Blake Snell in the rotation. The 23-year-old has been one of the top prospects for years and this will be a chance to start realizing some of that potential. He has elite swing and miss stuff in his bag and has flashed it in his limited time in the minors. As always with this, there is real risk...

He’s likely to play upwards and over 40 minutes if the game stays close, something that didn’t happen at all against Charlotte on Wednesday. But if this one is within 20 points, and it should be, then 40+ minutes is completely in play. He took a whopping 24 shots in just 34 minutes against Charlotte, tallying 24 points and adding 11 assists to boot. The FanDuel price is pushing it in this matchup, though some of the other pricing on this slate for FD makes it a bit easier to stomach. Darius Garland FD - $8700 DK - $8500Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 49.08 DK - 52.64 For the Cavaliers to advance they are basically going to need 40+ minutes out of Garland to have any hope. He ran 39 against the Nets on Tuesday, jacking up 24 shots (nearly twice as many as the next-closest guy) and scoring 34 points when it was all said and done. In theory, Jarrett Allen returning should help the assist numbers also considering he’ll have a more functional lob threat (though Allen is still dealing with a finger issue). In all, at these prices, it’s tough to fade Garland here considering the number of minutes he’s set to play. The dude is basically their only on-ball creator and as long as the game is close, 42-44 minutes are in play. Reggie Jackson FD - $5700 DK - $6100Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 36.9 DK - 38.98 Like we said going into the first play-in game, Jackson’s minutes were some of the ones we could almost definitely trust with this Clippers group. Sure, the usage takes a hit with Paul George around, but that’s somewhat built into the price at this point. RJax ran 39 in the loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday night, putting up 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. He took the second-most shots on the team with 18 and that should look...

There just isn’t likely to be a ton of savings around the rest of the positions so you’ll need to make some tough choices. The Hawks have, easily the highest implied total (120.75) of the slate, five points higher than the next-closest team. Considering the elimination style of this game, I think it’s likely we get 40+ minutes out of Trae in this one and the upside on that kind of run is enormous. Over the last seven games of the season, Young averaged 32 points and 10 assists while grabbing the occasional rebound (or three). He’s one of the unique offensive forces in the game and that should be on display in an up-and-down game against the Hornets. LaMelo Ball FD - $9000 DK - $9700Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 49.02 DK - 53.29 LaMelo is coming cheaper than Trae Young and Dejounte Murray for a reason, but that is likely to help us here when constructing lineups. When he’s given full run (not a guarantee) he can put up numbers with some of the best in the game. But it’s been inconsistent at times, and that does have me a little worried. But it’s also the thing that keeps the price in the next tier below, allowing for slightly easier lineup construction. Ball is a triple-double threat when everything is cooking, and that should be the case in this elimination game with the Hawks. The FanDuel price is particularly advantageous. Dejounte Murray FD - $10600 DK - $10800Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 56.4 DK - 59.46 From a fantasy perspective, Dejounte Murray is the best of these three games, but there are things working against him here that have him third on the list on this slate. For starters, the Spurs have, by far, the lowest implied total on the slate. And then there is the fact...

They will need every bit of his scoring to make it past the Nets and secure a spot as the seventh seed in the playoffs. He ran 41 against them just four days ago, scoring 31 points on 12-24 shooting. The issue in that game was that he really didn’t do much else, not tallying a rebound and recording only three assists. But the lack of those other stats does feel more like an outlier than anything else. There are a few different big money plays on this slate, but Garland is coming just a tick below that top group in terms of pricing. But he has as much upside as anyone else going. Reggie Jackson FD - $5700 DK - $6600Opponent - MINProj Pts FD - 35.43 DK - 39.16 The Clippers got a little wonky with their minutes down the stretch of the season, resting guys all over the place and playing odd rotations when it became clear that the play-in game was in their destiny. But this game will see the end of that and I think we can expect a heavy workload from Reggie Jackson. Though Paul George returning to the lineup full-time clearly cuts into the usage rates for Jackson, the latter was still able to find plenty of opportunity in the offense, getting up 19 and 24 shots respectively when the two played a full game’s worth of minutes just a week or so ago. The price is just too cheap on FanDuel especially.
