Pitchers Dylan Cease FD - P 10900 DK - SP 10400 Opponent - TEX (Glenn Otto) Park - TEXFD - 41.93 DK - 23.47 Cease comes in as a -178 road favorite against the Rangers on this slate and makes for the top overall raw points pitcher going. He’s having a Cy Young-worthy season with a 2.01 ERA (3.02 xFIP) while striking out batters at a better than 33% clip. The Rangers are a below-average offense on the season and strike out, as a team, more than 23% of the time. This is lining up for another big outing by Cease. Robbie Ray FD 9400 DK 8900 Opponent - LAA (Patrick Sandoval) Park - LAAFD - 38.99 DK - 21.09 Though the ERA is sitting at 4.11, the xFIP is more than half a run lower and he draws one of the better matchups of the day against the Trout-less Angels on this slate. Ray comes in as a -211 home favorite against an offense ranked 26th in the league despite having Trout and Ohtani at the top of the lineup. Ray has been inconsistent this season which is a bit worrisome but the matchup is just too good here to pass up. Catcher/First Base Yuli Gurriel FD 2400 DK 3300 Opponent - CLE (Hunter Gaddis) Park - CLEFD - 10.93 DK - 8.44 Gurriel isn’t having an amazing season, but there are some things going for him here. He’s coming cheap on both sites and should be hitting cleanup for the Astros. He’s facing off against Hunter Gaddis who is making his major league debut in this game as well. Gaddis has flashed strikeout stuff in the minors, but control has been an issue. And Gurriel makes a lot of contact, putting the ball in play about 82% of the time. Plus, he’s shown some speed on the base paths with eight stolen bases this season. Ji-Man Choi FD 2800 DK 3600 Opponent - DET (Bryan Garcia) Park - DETFD - 11.39 DK - 8.49 Choi should also be in the cleanup spot for the Rays and like Gurriel, is coming on the cheaper side on both FanDuel and DraftKings. He strikes out a lot more, but the .769 OPS plays and he does walk about 14% of the time. Bryan Garcia has struggled in the majors, striking out fewer than seven batters per nine while walking 5.3 per nine....

Pitchers Justin Verlander FD 11200 DK 10400 Opponent - CLE (Zach Plesac) Park - CLEFD - 37.4 DK - 20.63 While I think Verlander is the top cash game option on the main slate, I do want to warn that we shouldn’t be totally fooled by some of his stats this season. He has a 1.81 ERA but the xFIP is much higher at 3.47. He’s striking out fewer than a batter per inning and has gotten lucky on BABIP and LOB%. All that being said, he’s still the best play on this slate which is really weak on pitching. I don’t feel amazing about the matchup, but again this is more about lack of options than about a solid case for Verlander. Noah Syndergaard FD 7700 DK 7600 Opponent - WSH (Paolo Espino) Park - WSHFD - 35.35 DK - 18.19 José Quintana FD 7700 DK 6700 Opponent - CHC (Marcus Stroman) Park - CHCFD - 34.38 DK - 17.61 I’m putting these two guys together here because there are a number of similarities between them. Thor will start for the Phillies and is coming in as a massive -239 favorite against the now Soto-less Nationals. And Quintana is a -150 favorite against the Cubs though has a lower opposing run line. Neither dial the K’s up all that much, but the matchups play. Pairing either with Verlander on DK works because of the price points which don’t break the bank. But again, neither is close to an ace right now either. I think I would lean Quintana here on DK because you get the $900 savings and that means something. Catcher/First Base Rhys Hoskins FD 3100 DK 4000 Opponent - WSH (Paolo Espino) Park - WSHFD - 13.13 DK - 9.75 J.T. Realmuto FD 3300 DK 4700 Opponent - WSH (Paolo Espino) Park - WSHFD - 11.65 DK - 8.89 The Phillies have the highest implied run line on the slate at 5.6 facing off against Paolo Espino. The latter has a lower K rate and though he’s been around baseball forever, doesn’t have much in the way of put away stuff. Hoskins is have a solid year though hasn’t made quite the gains that were expected. He still has a .799 OPS and 20 home runs but we might just never see the power numbers he put up very early in his career. While better against lefties, he...
Huge win odds and a game in Coors highlight DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 7/29/22
Aces with huge win odds, Coors game in DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 7/29/22 Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB, NBA, PGA, NHL, and NFL optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Gerrit Cole FD 11000 DK 10400 Opponent - KC (Kris Bubic) Park - KCFD - 47.17 DK - 26.79 We have two of the biggest money line favorites you’ll ever see taking the mound on Friday and we are going to want to prioritize them for cash games. The first is Cole who is a -367 favorite against the Royals at home. It’s easy to see why. He’s having another excellent season with a 2.78 xFIP, 11.5 Ks per nine, and a 4.8:1 K:BB ratio. The Royals rank 24th in team wOBA on the season and just generally stink. Even with a game in Coors that has expensive bats, we are going to want to prioritize Cole here. Alek Manoah FD 10200 DK 9400 Opponent - DET (Bryan Garcia) Park - DETFD - 45.28 DK - 24.08 Manoah is cheaper than Cole and in just as good a spot against Detroit. He’s a whopping -396 home favorite, again one of the higher numbers you’ll ever see in that respect. The Tigers rank second-to-last in team offense this season and strike out nearly 24% of the time. Manoah’s peripherals aren’t as good as Cole but he’s still shown very good control on the season. The matchup is just too good to pass up and I like pairing them together on DK. Catcher/First Base Freddie Freeman FD 4400 DK 5800 Opponent - COL (Chad Kuhl) Park - COLFD - 17.1 DK - 12.88 Will Smith FD 3400 DK 5000 Opponent - COL (Chad Kuhl) Park - COLFD - 14.81 DK - 11.01 It’s going to be tough to fit the higher-priced arms in with some of the bats in the best spots. That’s jus the way this slate is shaping up. But when you have a team with an implied run line over 7.0 it’s time to really start prioritizing them in cash games. That’s the case with the Dodgers playing again in Coors on Friday. They put up 13 runs on Thursday evening and could be in line for a ton today as well. Freeman and Smith are expensive here, and with good reason. They should hit three-four in the order respectively against Kuhl and have plenty of power upside. Smith is a bit cheaper on FanDuel which really helps with some of the salary concerns. Plus Jake Lamb (FD $2600 DK $2100)...

Pitchers Shane McClanahan FD 11600 DK 10300 Opponent - BAL (Spenser Watkins) Park - BALFD - 41.98 DK - 23.4 McClanahan is having one of the best pitching seasons we’ve seen in a while and it’s remarkable that it’s coming in just his second full season in the majors. He’s rocking an unreal 1.71 ERA with the 2.00 ERA not far behind. That’s thanks to a 11.95 K/9 rate and a 7.7:1 K:BB ratio. He comes in as a -200 road favorite against the Orioles and is clearly the best cash game option on the slate. The way he’s going, the dude is just making his case for one of the best arms in all of baseball right now. José Berríos FD 8900 DK 7900 Opponent - STL (Andre Pallante) Park - STLFD - 36.42 DK - 19.45 Berrios had a rough start to the season but has begun to turn it around of late and we might be grabbing him at a value right now. Sure, the 5.23 ERA can make you worried, but over his last three starts he’s gone at least six innings in each, striking out 26 and walking just two. It sure looks like things are on the up and up for this guy and we are getting him at a bargain because of the troubles earlier in the season. He’s a -231 favorite thanks in part to a bunch of key Cardinals bats not making the trip to Toronto. Catcher/First Base Alejandro Kirk FD 3300 DK 4900 Opponent - STL (Andre Pallante) Park - STLFD - 12.59 DK - 9.55 Though there’s a game in Coors, a couple of teams on this slate have higher run lines than anything we are getting in the Mile High air. One of them is the Blue Jays who come in as big favorites against a skeleton crew of Cardinals players. Kirk is having an excellent season, walking (10.7%) more than he’s striking out (9.1%) with an .893 OPS and 11 home runs. He makes for a solid cash game option because of the patience and does have some power upside. Darin Ruf FD 2600 DK 3200 Opponent - ARI (Tyler Gilbert) Park - ARIFD - 12.08 DK - 9.07 Because of the extreme platoon splits, he’s still a candidate to get pinch hit for later in games, but he’s raked...

Pitchers Max Scherzer FD 11500 DK 10400 Opponent - SD (Yu Darvish) Park - SDFD - 44.95 DK - 25.39 It’s our first full slate of MLB action post-All-Star Break and we are going to be paying up for pitching in cash games. There are two guys at the top of the list who qualify as true aces and both are in good spots. When healthy, Scherzer has been electric this season for the Mets. In his 11 starts, he has a 2.90 xFIP with a 7.5:1 K:BB ratio which is about as good as you’ll ever see it in the majors. He’s putting down 11.74 batters per nine and has gone at least six innings in all but two of his starts this season. It’s tough to find a better pitcher going these days. Corbin Burnes FD 11300 DK 10200 Opponent - COL (Antonio Senzatela) Park - COLFD - 43.8 DK - 24.87 Burnes is almost always leading the cash game picks when he takes the mound, but there’s also Scherzer today. So that’s no knock on Corbin at all. He has, easily, the best money line odds on the day as a -274 home favorite against the Rockies who completely stink away from Coors. Like Scherzer, he’s ultra-efficient with 11.4 K’s per nine and a 5:1 K:BB ratio. It will be tough fitting both into cash games on DraftKings, but it’s definitely worth it to give it a try. The floor for these two guys is just so high. Catcher/First Base Anthony Rizzo FD 3900 DK 5100 Opponent - BAL (Tyler Wells) Park - BALFD - 12.15 DK - 9.13 The Yankees have the highest run line of the main slate on Friday and we are going to want to try to get them into cash games. It will be tough to fully stack them fully with the higher-priced arms. Facing off against Tyler Wells is a good start though for the Bombers and Rizzo is one of the better options at this position. He’s got an OPS in the low-800s for the season though does have 22 home runs already. He’s on pace for a career number there if things keep up. Rolling with the top of the Yankees order is going to be the way to go here. Ty France FD 3300 DK 4500 Opponent - HOU (José Urquidy) Park - HOUFD...

Pitchers Alek Manoah FD - P 9600 DK - SP 9000 Opponent - KC (Zack Greinke) Park - TORFD - 35.78 DK - 19.12 The Royals brought a skeleton crew up to Toronto for this series because they have so many players on the restricted list, but it didn’t seem to matter all that much on Thursday. They still beat the Blue Jays 3-1. That being said, it’s not likely to repeat for the series and Alek Manoah is in an incredible spot just like Gausman was last night. He’s a -356 home favorite, a number you simply don’t see these days except in extreme examples, and will be tough to not play in cash games based almost solely on this number alone. Clayton Kershaw FD 10100 DK 9400 Opponent - LAA (Patrick Sandoval) Park - LAAFD - 38.71 DK - 21.05 He’s more expensive with worse win odds than Manoah, but we should talk about Kershaw here. The dude is having a fantastic season with a 2.40 ERA and a 2.91 xFIP that isn’t too far behind. He’s got a 5.8:1 K:BB ratio and is putting down batters at a 28% clip. The elite control has him going close to six innings per start on the season and some of that is even low because the pitch counts never get too crazy. On a normal day, he’d probably be the top cash pitcher but there is wackiness going on in Toronto. Catcher/First Base C.J. Cron FD 4300 DK 5400 Opponent - PIT (José Quintana) Park - PITFD - 16.56 DK - 12.45 Cron has put together a fantastic season with an .892 OPS and 20 home runs already. He has Coors to thank in a big way with a 1.064 OPS in the friendly confines of Coors. He could add to it today. He’ll face off against the lefty Jose Quintana and for his career Cron has been significantly better against southpaws. The Rockies have the highest run line of the day and though they are expensive could be popular plays on this slate. Ty France FD 3000 DK 4300 Opponent - TEX (Matt Bush) Park - TEXFD - 14.35 DK - 10.94 France has an .829 OPS on the season with 10 home runs. All well and good, but he makes for a solid cash game pick on almost a day-in-day-out basis because he’s so patient at the plate....
