Quarterbacks Josh Allen FD 9000 DK 8200 Opponent PITProj Points FD - 28.29 DK - 28.29 In terms of per-game fantasy scoring, there is a class of quarterbacks at the top of the list and then there is everyone else. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson lead that class this season with Jalen Hurts, who we’ll get to in a second, right behind. Allen has 10 passing touchdowns on the season and has added two rushing touchdowns. He is fourth in quarterback rushing yards and third in passing attempts. He just has such a high floor each and every week because he literally does everything. And in Week 5, the Bills have the highest implied total at 30.5 as -14 home favorites against the Steelers. This is a tough spot to fade Allen in cash games. Jalen Hurts FD 8600 DK 8100 Opponent ARIProj Points FD - 26.78 DK - 26.78 Hurts is third in fantasy scoring this season behind Jackson and Allen and like those two offers a high floor in every game because of how much he will take off and run. The Eagles dealt with bad conditions in Week 4 but things are lining up well this time around even going on the road. They are 5.5 favorites against the Cardinals who rank 29th in DVOA on defense and 28th against the pass. And with only four passing touchdowns on the season in 123 passing attempts, one could make the case that Hurts is running bad in that category. There could be even more room for upside if this game turns into a shootout. Running Backs Dalvin Cook FD 7300 DK 7300 Opponent CHIProj Points FD - 18.11 DK - 19.77 There was some concern about Cook’s shoulder going into the Week 4 game in London for the Vikings. But he ended up playing and carried the ball 20 times on 63% of the Minnesota offensive snaps. Now, he comes into Week 5 in the running back sweet spot as a -7 home favorite against the Bears who rank 24th in the league against the rush this season. Cook has seen a price dip on both sites and is especially a good deal on FanDuel. He hasn’t been a total workhorse back this season, but this could be a smash spot when we are...

Pitchers Julio Urías FD 10400 DK 9000 Opponent - COL (Ryan Feltner) Park - COLFD - 47.51 DK - 24.47 With the playoffs all but locked up across the league, we are in tricky spots when it comes to cash games on these final sites. There are a few teams still duking it out for seeding, but they really aren’t on the main slate here and that’s going to leave us with some issues. The Dodgers are taking it easy on their starters down the stretch so pitch counts are problems, but Urias is still coming in here as a -355 home favorite. That’s worth at least something and he isn’t breaking the bank on DraftKings at all. Again, these are weird times when it comes to late season MLB DFS. And while he likely won’t win, Urias is still at least a part of the NL Cy Young race. Justin Verlander FD 11200 DK 10500 Opponent - PHI (Ranger Suárez) Park - PHIFD - 39.51 DK - 21.97 Speaking of the Cy Young race, Justin Verlander is currently the odds-on favorite to win in the American League, holding a betting line lead over Dylan Cease. It’s unlikely that this outing changes those odds all that much, but it’s at least something to consider. He draws a tough matchup against the Phillies who are still fighting for some playoff seeding, but Verlander, in terms of skill, is about as good as it gets on this slate. Strongly consider Sean Manaea (FD $8100 DK $6500) Catcher/First Base Freddie Freeman FD 4300 DK 5700 Opponent - COL (Ryan Feltner) Park - COLFD - 13.14 DK - 9.9 In his first year with the Dodgers, Freeman didn’t have quite the power numbers we’ve come to expect seeing as how he hit *only* 20 home runs down from the 30+ he’d hit in previous seasons with similar numbers of plate appearances. But he still had over a .900 OPS and walked (12%) almost as much as he struck out (14.5%). He’s one of the elite hitters in the game and still makes for a great cash game option. José Abreu FD 3100 DK 4500 Opponent - MIN (Josh Winder) Park - MINFD - 10.05 DK - 7.6 Abreu had a fine season this time around with an .815 OPS thanks to a lower K rate (16%) and some run hot when...

The Blue Jays the DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 9/30/22

Corbnin Burnes and the Blue Jays the DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 9/30/22 Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB, NBA, PGA, NHL, and NFL optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Corbin Burnes FD 10300 DK 10500 Opponent - MIA (Sandy Alcantara) Park - MIAFD - 46.55 DK - 26.63 The Brewers are still in the Wild Card fight here and this time of year, that’s about all you can ask for when it comes to starting pitching. There are a lot of ways to pay up today and there are too many big arms to avoid playing all of them. So we’ll take Burnes here. He’s struggled at times in the second half of the season, but this is still a guy with a strikeout rate close to 11 per nine and he’s facing off against the 27th-ranked offense in the league. He’s not a huge favorite because he’s going against Alcantara, but the run line in this game is so, so low. Jack Flaherty FD 7900 DK 7400 Opponent - PIT (Johan Oviedo) Park - PITFD - 36.64 DK - 19.62 This is a somewhat tricky spot because the Cardinals aren’t playing for a ton here so Flaherty could really be managed. But he’s coming real cheap on DraftKings on a day where that matters and he’s a -204 home favorite against the Pirates. Pittsburgh ranks third-to-last in team offense this season and they strike out close to 26% of the time. Flaherty has been a mixed bag this season, but he’s coming off a nine-strikeout performance against the Padres last time out. In the effort to get some bats in, I think he is okay in cash. Very strongly consider Logan Gilbert who is a -224 favorite at home against the lowly Oakland A’s. Catcher/First Base Vladimir Guerrero Jr. FD 3800 DK 5500 Opponent - BOS (Nick Pivetta) Park - BOSFD - 12.78 DK - 9.62 Alejandro Kirk FD 2300 DK 4800 Opponent - BOS (Nick Pivetta) Park - BOSFD - 11.43 DK - 8.67 We aren’t going to be able to play all of the big bats on this slate, but we can start things off with the Blue Jays. They are facing off against Nick Pivetta who brings in a 4.48 ERA and does allow the long ball. Guerrero isn’t having the same kind of season he had last time out with the OPS *only* sitting at .813. But this is a guy who does have 30 home runs and is tough to put down on strikes at just...

Mike Trout Leads the DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Tuesday 9/27/22 Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB, NBA, PGA, NHL, and NFL optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Lance McCullers Jr. FD 10800 DK 10500 Opponent - ARI (Zach Davies) Park - ARIFD - 41.61 DK - 22.47 As we get to the end of the season, pitch counts and playing time can always get a little funky. But we have to take what we are given here. McCullers opens as a -225 home favorite against the Diamondbacks on this slate and, from an ERA perspective, has been solid this season. But I would caution just a little that the 3.68 xFIP is about 1.5 runs behind. He’s striking out batters at more than 9.5 per nine, but the walks are a little on the high side. I do think there is some risk here, but he’s also in an excellent spot. Carlos Carrasco FD 9500 DK 9300 Opponent - MIA (Pablo López) Park - MIAFD - 39.76 DK - 21.08 If you want to go a bit cheaper then Carrasco could fit the bill here. There are a lot of good pitchers going today and he’s still got some of the best win odds at -214 at home. The Marlins are among the league’s worst offenses this season, sitting at 27th overall in team wOBA. Carrasco is striking out more than a batter per nine and has kept the walks relatively in check. I like him for more than $1K cheaper on both sites than McCullers. Logan Webb FD 9600 DK 7200 Opponent - COL (Germán Márquez) Park - COLFD - 39.05 DK - 20.49 If you are really looking to save some on an arm for this slate then Webb is in a good spot at home against the Rockies. Away from home, Colorado has been awful this season with a .276 team wOBA and 24% K rate. That’s a bottom-feeding offense when they are away from the best hitter’s park in baseball. Webb isn’t an ace by any means, but he’s solid enough and keeps the walks down. He’s a bargain on DraftKings with the matchup. Consider Robbie Ray (FD $10200 DK $10300) Catcher/First Base Matt Olson FD 3300 DK 4500 Opponent - WSH (Paolo Espino) Park - WSHFD - 10.91 DK - 8.13 The Braves have one of the higher overall run lines on the day at 4.9 thanks to facing off against Paolo Espino on this slate. Olson should be hitting fifth in the lineup against the righty and...

Padres in Coors and Chris Bassitt Highlight DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 9/23/22

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Chris Bassitt FD 10500 DK 9500 Opponent - OAK (Cole Irvin) Park - OAKFD - 43.5 DK - 23.95 There are a number of good to very good pitchers going on this slate today which is actually going to make the hitting side of things a little tougher. But in terms of cash, I think we can start with Bassitt here. He’s facing off against the A’s who rank second-to-last in team wOBA this season and strike out 24% of the time. Bassitt has been effective this season with a low 3’s ERA while striking out a little north of 8.5 batters per nine. This game is on the road, but he is a -224 favorite, setting him up with some of the best win odds on the slate. Lucas Giolito FD 9300 DK 7700 Opponent - DET (Eduardo Rodriguez) Park - DETFD - 38.89 DK - 20.61 It’s been an up and down season for Giolito this year and he’s got some blowup games on the resume for sure. But this is still a guy striking out close to ten batters per nine and his 3.65 xFIP is about 1.5 runs lower than the disaster 5.07 ERA. It’s the latter that has his price down on both sites, but he’s running horrible in BABIP against on the season. That’s some bad luck and Friday he gets the worst offense in the league in the Tigers. I think the DK price is completely in play and you shouldn’t be scared off by the ERA. Strongly consider Carlos Rodón (FD $11000 DK $10300) against Arizona Catcher/First Base Josh Bell FD 3200 DK 3800 Opponent - COL (Ryan Feltner) Park - COLFD - 14 DK - 10.54 The Padres enter Coors for the weekend and that is almost always where we want to be from a cash game perspective. Does it work out every single time? No. But there’s a reason this is the best hitter’s park in baseball and if we can get cash game plays there then that should be the goal. Bell has moved down in the San Diego order some but this is still a guy with an OPS over .800 on the season who walks 12% of the time and does have power when things are going right. Second Base Jake Cronenworth FD 3500 DK 4200 Opponent - COL (Ryan Feltner) Park - COLFD - 13.34 DK...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Charlie Morton FD 9200 DK 9000 Opponent - WSH (Patrick Corbin) Park - WSHFD - 40.62 DK - 21.58 For the main slate, we have a couple of pitchers in very good spots taking the mound on Tuesday. The first is Morton who faces off against the lowly Washington Nationals as a whopping -348 home favorite. Those win odds are about as high as you’ll ever see even if we’ve had some example close to it of late. The 38-year-old Morton is having another solid, if unspectacular, season striking out more than 10 batters per nine though the ERA is over 4.00. Regardless, he’s not expensive and this is too good a matchup to pass up. Luis Castillo FD 9700 DK 9100 Opponent - OAK (JP Sears) Park - OAKFD - 39.87 DK - 21.15 And then there’s Castillo who is on the road in Oakland, but coming in as a -222 favorite against an A’s team that ranks second-to-last (and could finish last) in team wOBA this season while striking out 24% of the time as well. Castillo has been excellent this season with a 2.68 ERA and 3.17 xFIP while striking out batters at more than a 27% clip. His DraftKings price won’t kill you and it’s going to make sense pairing he and Morton together over there on the main slate. Catcher/First Base Adley Rutschman FD 3100 DK 5000 Opponent - DET (Joey Wentz) Park - DETFD - 12.55 DK - 9.54 Ryan Mountcastle FD 2900 DK 4200 Opponent - DET (Joey Wentz) Park - DETFD - 12.44 DK - 9.5 We are pretty much going to be focused on three teams for cash game plays on this slate. One of them is the Orioles who face off against lefty Joey Wentz on Tuesday and come in with a 5.1 implied run line. Rutschman should hit second when facing the southpaw and the Uber-prospect has had an excellent first season in the majors with an .820 OPS and 11 home runs through his first 400 plate appearances. He’s tough to strikeout at 17% and walks 14% of the time. Those peripherals are great and Wentz doesn’t have much in the way of K stuff. And then there’s Mountcastle who doesn’t have the on-base stuff that Rutschman has, but makes up for it some with more power (22 home runs). He’s been slightly better for his career against...
