Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 10/24/18
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 10/24/18 It's a huge Wednesday basketball slate, so let's cut the preamble. Scoring is still broken on FanDuel (as in, we have a huge edge right now), and there's plenty of value to go around on this slate. We've got superstars, bad defenses, fast teams, and value plays. Everything you need for some Wednesday NBA fun. We've got you completely covered. Point Guard Stephen Curry FD - $9300 DK - $9800Opponent - WASProj Pts FD - 47.1 DK - 49.29 For such a big slate, point guard is surprisingly weak tonight. Our first glance suggests that we don't have a lot of initial value jumping off the page, so it might be a night to punt the position away on FanDuel (or soft punt it with a guy like McConnell if Simmons is out again). Still, you'll need too run at least one PG on each site, and you could probably do worse than Steph here. He's averaging 30/5/8 to start the season with 49 fantasy points per game, and it looks like the Dubs plan on playing him 36-37 minutes per game here. And like we saw against Phoenix, he can even get his in blowouts since the blowouts are usually his fault in the first place. Tonight he'll be up against the Wizards, who on paper represent a slightly below league average match-up. Washington was a playoff team last year, and should be able to hang here, so I'm slotting Curry for his full run of minutes. If he gets them, the floor should be quite solid. Kemba Walker FD - $8400 DK - $8400Opponent - CHIProj Pts FD - 41.09 DK - 42.34 The Hornets/Bulls game has a sneaky high 231.5 total tonight, which is good for the third highest on the slate at the moment. I feel like I've written up Kemba 100 times in my DFS career, and it's always with the same reasoning: he'll be a slight value when he has a good match-up. His price has hovered around $8,000 for what feels like forever, and that's because he consistently plays high 30s minutes on a team that is rarely involved in blowouts. The Bulls have the 6th worst defensively efficiency this season while playing...
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 10/20/18
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 10/20/18 We have a tidy little Sunday slate, as the NBA goes head to head with the NFL for the first time this season. No worries about a small slate, though - we have lots of value already on the table, with more to potentially come if any big names like Harden sit the second half of a back to back here. We have some bad teams, some high totals, and some tight spreads - all the makings of a super fun short slate to sweat after the NFL inevitably goes pear-shaped on us. Let's dive in and make sense of it all. We've got you completely covered. Point Guard Stephen Curry FD - $9600 DK - $10000Opponent - DENProj Pts FD - 49.82 DK - 51.94 It will be an overarching theme of the day, but if this game stays close you're going to have a hard time getting away from it. As of this writing this game has the highest total and a very tight -3.5 spread. If you don't think this one ends in a blow-out, Curry is probably under priced. Denver slowed things down last season, but they played the 4th worst defense in the NBA. They're on the second half of a back to back, and Murray was already not necessarily known for his defense. Curry is off to a ripping start to the season - topping 30 points in each of his first two games while averaging 22 shots. I don't expect this to stop against Denver here. Trae Young FD - $6100 DK - $6100Opponent - CLEProj Pts FD - 31.21 DK - 34.06 I never know what to do with young players like... Young. On one hand, the minutes and usage seem to be there. He's played 33 minutes a game in two very different game scripts, and averaged 16 shots in those games. His 5.8 minutes of time of possession per game are higher than guys like Giannis or DeRozan. And yet he's shooting 37.5% from the field. Generally, either the shots have to come down or the field goal percentage has to go up. Given that Young is just getting his feet wet in the NBA, it is understandable that he's...
GPP Ownership Pivot Plays for Week 7 on FanDuel and DraftKings
GPP Ownership Pivot Plays for Week 7 on FanDuel and DraftKings I am going to do things a little different this week and instead of a couple players at each position, I am going to look at some situations we can take advantage of when breaking down GPP ownership. When analyzing ownership projections, my top source is FanShareSports who compile every piece of relevant DFS content(articles, podcasts, tweets, videos, etc) and put it all together in an easy to read platform showing overall tag counts, start/sit counts, sentiment rating, and so much more. With all that said, let's jump into this week's top pivot plays. Want to see the rest of this article? Go grab a free three day trial of DFSR Pro or DFSR Basic! Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 7 – 10/21/18
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 7 - 10/21/18 Welcome back football fans. We are now deep into the bye weeks as four teams(GB, OAK, PIT, SEA) will get the week off and combine that with an early game in London plus the regular Primetime games and we have just 10 games on the main slate. Then you start looking at the limited options, especially at the running back and tight end position, and realize we are going to need some value stacks to fit the puzzle together this week. Let's take a look at a couple that stand out using the DFSR Player Lab. Want to see the rest of this article? Go grab a free three day trial of DFSR Pro or DFSR Basic! Baltimore Ravens Quarterback - Joe Flacco Primary Target - Michael Crabtree Secondary Target - John Brown Like always, I started with the "High Vegas Total" and "Thin Spread" filters which narrowed the options down to one game. In no way do I think Joe Flacco is the better quarterback of the two but I will side with him and the Ravens this week for a couple of reasons. It starts with the PTS/$ value as Flacco comes cheaper on both sites on a week where the options are limited and the price of Todd Gurley is through the roof but is our top projected play from a raw points perspective and a near must play in all formats. Despite the Saints holding Alex Smith to 275 and no touchdowns and Eli Manning to 255 yards and one touchdown over the past two weeks, they have still given up the third most passing yards per game(297.6) on the season and the third-most fantasy points against quarterbacks. While Flacco doesn't have the same upside as Brees, Cousins, Winston and others on this slate, he has still been pretty good averaging 298 yards per game and three times hs thrown for multiple touchdowns. The wide receivers also provide some salary relief in this matchup as both are under $6K on DraftKings and in the mid $6K range on FanDuel. Crabtree has out-targeted Brown 55-47 on the season but neither has been extremely reliable with a 45% and 55% catch rate but in this matchup, I think both have a shot to hit and exceed value on both sites and should also be low-owned. Cleveland Browns Quarterback - Baker Mayfield Primary Target - Jarvis Landry Secondary Targets - David Njoku What I did next was use the same "High Vegas O/U",...
Daily Fantasy College Football Picks and Betting Spotlight (Premium) for DraftKings – Week 8
Daily Fantasy College Football Picks and Betting Spotlight (Premium) for DraftKings - Week 8 Last week sure did muddy the waters with upsets across the entire slate, but one thing remains crystal clear: Alabama looks unstoppable. I have a theory on how to attack Alabama, but we’ll save that for another time. By my count, we had seven upsets and two almost upsets last week with a few of those having major playoff implications. This week isn't shaping up to be nearly as exciting with only Oklahoma and Clemson finding themselves in dangerous matchups. The Sooners need to remain perfect and settle matters in the Conference Championship game. Clemson has an easier road with all their difficult games being played at home with this week against NC State possibly their toughest challenge. Now let's get to the picks. Quarterback Trace McSorley -Penn State DK 8900 Opponent Indiana Team Total - 37.5 The past few weeks have been heartbreaking as a Nittany Lions fan, but that’s why we don't mix business with pleasure and I present to you Trace McSorley as your top business decision of the day. Some people will surely play Kyler Murray in this price range, and I get it, but I prefer to pair McSorley with Sanders for cash games. Penn State has a slightly higher implied total compared to Oklahoma and the savings will pay dividends further down your roster. Indiana is better than their record and will be waiting for a down Penn State squad who has lost their last two contests. That said, Indiana doesn't have the defense to keep McSorley & Co. off the scoreboard so it should be business as usual for the offense. Against mediocre competition, such as Indiana, Penn State’s offense has absolutely poured it on opposing defenses averaging over 55 points per game. The total of 61 feels low to me and I think the Nittany Lions get back on track offensively. McSorley is the focal point of the offense and I can see this game turning into a mild shootout with Penn State pulling away late. In Trace we trust. Shea Patterson -Michigan DK 6200 Opponent Michigan State Team Total - 24 There are a few guys at this price point we can choose from, such as Peyton Ramsey or Jake Browning, but I like the matchup for Patterson over the others. Michigan does two things extremely well; run the ball and stop the run. Michigan State does one thing extremely well; stop the run. With this game being played in East Lansing the front seven for the Spartans may have a little extra juice in their step and finding running room could prove difficult. Higdon performed well...
Filling in the Gaps – Redistributing NBA Usage Rates based on offseason moves – 10/14/18
Filling in the Gaps - Redistributing NBA Usage Rates based on offseason moves - 10/14/18 The NBA regular season is breathing down our necks and we'll be in the thick of the DFS fight soon enough. Before Tuesday's opening night rolls around though, let's look at four situations where a team is looking to replace a lot of 2017-18 usage. All on court/ off court stats are courtesy of NBAWowy.com. Toronto Raptors Gone Demar Derozan 29.8% Usage Rate Beneficiary Kawhi Leonard 2016-17 Usage - 31.8 Other beneficiaries - Fred Vanvleet, Danny Green The biggest trade of the off-season also opens up a ton of shots for the Raptors. Derozan’s 30% usage rate leaves a lot of shots to fill and Kawhi instantly steps in as the go-to offensive option for the team. He didn’t shoot all that well in the preseason and is basically following up a lost season that saw him play only nine total games. But there's a lot of reason for optimism for Kawhi in this new situation. For all intents and purposes, he looks healthy and if the preseason is any clue, the offense is going to run mostly through him to start the year. He’ll fill much of what Derozan did in the midrange game and could easily return to his 2016 Spurs’ numbers in which he put up a 32% usage rate and 25.5 points per game on an average of 17.7 shots. Interestingly enough, that’s exactly the amount of shots per game Derozan took last season. It’s worth noting here that Kyle Lowry saw no real change in usage with Derozan off the court last season. I’m willing to translate all (if not more) of Demar’s shots right to Kawhi and he’ll be a fantasy superstar right from jump street on this new team. Atlanta Hawks Gone Dennis Schroder 30.6% Usage Rate Beneficiary Trae Young 2017-18 Usage - NA (Rookie) Other beneficiaries - Taurean Prince, Kent Bazemore The Hawks made something of a bold move trading out of the third pick in the draft in order to ensure they got an extra pick and the ability to draft Trae Young instead of Luka Doncic. Time will tell how that plays itself out, but from a fantasy perspective, we should be looking at a steady (never-ending) flood of shots from the Hawks’ rookie. Atlanta traded away their usage leader in Dennis Schroder to OKC and no one else was particularly close last season. Schroder’s 30.6%...
