Sony Open in Hawaii Waialae Country Club - Honolulu, Hawaii Par 70 - 7,044 Yards Week one of the 2017 season(calendar year) is in the books and we were treated to another excellent event in Kapalua with the SBS Tournament of Champions. It was young star Justin Thomas picking up his second win of the new season after his title defense at the CIMB Classic back at the end of October. It, at times, looked like it was going to be a runaway win on Sunday until the back nine that brought him and Matsuyama close but not close enough. Let's take a look at the final round highlights. From a DFS perspective, there were some definite values that showed up by the time things worked themselves out. Even in a 30 man field, there were players who came in ranked in the lower half in ownership and near the top in final DraftKings points. Looking closer, you will also notice that two of the Top 3 and four of the Top 10 in DK points were in last weeks article. Let's keep up the early season momentum. From a tournament players point of view, ownership is going to be much more important on a full field event like the Sony Open this weekend. The first place I go to get a feel for this on a weekly basis is www.FanShareSports.com. They tally each player's tag count(mentions) on social media as well start/sit recommendations and sentiment rating. Bookmark it! Now let's jump into week two of the daily fantasy 2017 season where most of the ToC field and about 120 others will meet for the Sony Open in Hawaii. The Waialae Country Club is a Par 70 setup which means just two par 5's this week, both of which close out a nine-hole stretch(Hole 9 & 18). For a complete hole by hole breakdown, check out this LINK. While golfers could pretty much just grip and rip last week with the huge fairways, that won't be the case Waialae....
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FantasyAces – SBS Tournament of Champions
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FantasyAces - SBS Tournament of Champions DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. SBS Tournament of Champions Plantation Course at Kapalua - Kapalua, Maui Par 73 - 7,452 Yards Okay, before we get started I have been spending a ton of time on YouTube this winter reviewing last year and wanted to share this video in case you haven't seen it 100 times like me. The short three-week winter break is now over and I couldn't be more excited to get back into the PGA DFS weekly grind. This week is a bit of a tease as the SBS Tournaments of Champions consists of only winners from the 2016 season. There were 38 players who qualified for this event in Kapalua but six (Rory, McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Charl Schwartzel, Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson, Danny Willett) have withdrawn, leaving the field pretty thin with 32 players. As a 2016 winner, you sure get rewarded by getting to start your 2017 season with a trip to Kapalua and a crack at the Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed Plantation course. It is one of the easiest courses on tour and the only Par 73 that golfers will see all season meaning a ton of birdies. The wind can definitely play a factor but even with the wind filled 2013 tournament, Dustin Johnson won with a -13 final score. The average winning score over the last five years has been -22 with last years winner Jordan Spieth coming close to setting the record with his -30 winning score. Another thing to note about the tournament is that there will be no cut so all 32 golfers will get four rounds of competition, that is if no one withdraws. From a statistical point of view, I will be weighing Birdie or Better % and Par 5 Scoring right near the top as they correlate very closely to DraftKings scoring which will be very high this week. Distance off the tee isn't essential but if there is any wind at all it will be very advantageous to the longer hitters so I often weigh...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FantasyAces – RSM Classic
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FantasyAces - RSM Classic DFSR is proud to bring you Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings and FantasyAces. RSM Classic Sea Island Golf Club (Seaside) Par 70 - 7,005 Yards Sea Island Golf Club (Plantation Course) Par 72 - 7,033 The RSM Classic at Sea Island Resort marks the final FedEx Cup point paying event of the 2016 portion of the season. For us daily fantasy golf fans it is a short break as DraftKings most other sites run contests during the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in two weeks. Then after the Franklin Templeton Shootout the tour takes a break until January where the 15'/16' winners will meet at the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. This week's tournament will be played on two different 18 hole courses for the first two days. Players will all play one 18 hole round on the Seaside Course and one 18 hole round on the Plantation Course and those who make the cut will play the remaining 36 holes on the Seaside Course. It is a 7,005 Yard, Par 70 that plays as a traditional coastal Links style course. When playing on Links courses the biggest defense is always going to be the wind. Here is a look at the forecast as of Tuesday morning: Thursday and Friday look excellent while the wind should pick up through the weekend. Off the tee golfers are going to be faced with, what I consider, smaller than average fairways for a Links course with marsh, sand, water and native areas which can be very penal. Because of this Driving Accuracy will be an important stat as will Greens in Regulation as almost ever green is protected by multiple bunkers and/or water and marshland. It will also be important to not only look at GIR but Proximity to the Hole as the Greens are larger than average with some having different levels throughout the green. Hitting every green is impossible and will become even harder on the weekend if the wind picks up so rostering golfers who are good out of the sand and good overall scramblers is a plus. With any Par 70 course Par 4 Scoring becomes a key stat as there are 12 of them with just two Par 5's. To see a closer hole by hole look at the course visit the following LINK. If you have any questions leading up to lineup lock Thursday morning you can reach me in a variety of ways. Leave a Q below in the comment section and I will get you an answer. Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FantasyAces – Shriners Hospitals for Children Open
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FantasyAces - Shriners Hospitals for Children Open DFSR is proud to bring you Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings and FantasyAces. Shriners Hospitals for Children Open TPC Summerlin - Las Vegas, Nevada Par 71 - 7,255 Yards After a runner up at the CIMB Classic, Hideki Matsuyama continued his torrid place to open the 2016-2017 season. He dominated the loaded field last weekend , winning by seven strokes, en route to his 3rd PGA Tour victory. He also became the first ever Asian born player to win a WGC event and in doing so moved up from 10th to 6th in the Official World Golf Rankings. This week the PGA Tour heads to Sin City for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. TPC Summerlin was built into the desert terrain of Las Vegas back in 1991 and has been the annual home of this tournament since 2008. It is a 7,255 yard, Par 71 setup that is full of elevation changes and challenges golfers who are not accurate off the tee as there are a ton of native areas that can lead to penalty strokes. The greens are larger than normal and very undulating putting more emphasis on Proximity over Greens in Regulation. There are also over 100 bunkers which will have me weight Scrambling and Sand Save % a little higher this week. Last years winning score(-16) was lower than it usually is with an average winning score around -20 over the past 5+ years. With DraftKings scores expected to be higher than normal I will be heavily weighting Birdie or Better %, Par 4 and 5 Scoring. Le's dig in and take a look at some of the top plays this week. If you have any questions leading up to lineup lock Thursday morning you can reach me in a variety of ways. Leave a Q below in the comment section and I will get you an answer. You can hit me up in the new chatroom here at DFSR(It's crazy busy with NFL talk so try and private message me for specific PGA Q's). I am also always available on Twitter(@jager_bombs9). Good luck this week! Click Here to Purchase PGA Targets WGC HSBC Champions Sheshan International Golf Club(West) - Shanghai, China Par 72 - 7,261 Yards I can't believe we are already two tournaments into the 2016/2017 season already. The CIMB Classic wrapped up on Sunday with Justin Thomas proving he is one of the best players in the world. He defended his title in the place where he captured his first PGA Tour last season and did it in style. He closed with an impressive final round 64 coming from four shots back to take the trophy. It wasn't all smooth sailing for Thomas as he ran into a wall on Saturday going Bogey, Double Bogey, Bogey on holes 10 through 12 but showed resilience but paring the 13th and finishing the back nine with five straight birdies to get back into contention. In two CIMB Classics Thomas has has now gone a whopping -49 under par. Can we place bets on next year yet? If you missed the final round check out the highlights below courtesy of PGATour.com: This week the PGA Tour travels North from Malaysia to Shanghai, China for the first World Golf Championship event of the season. Sheshan International Golf Club will host the HSBC Champions for the 7th time(was held at Missions Hills GC in 2012). It is a Par 72 that stretches 7,261 yards. I will be looking at Total Driving as both distance and accuracy are important. Two of the Par 5's are reachable in two by the entire field while the other two will be layup holes for most of the field besides the bombers. Accuracy will be important off the tee on the Par 4's with doglegs that require proper placement to have any chance at getting a green in regulation and birdie chance. On top of that I will be looking at Scrambling and Sand Save % a bit more this week as there are a ton of bunkers, especially around the green. As always I will be weighting Birdie or Better % and Bogey Avoidance as they both correlate closely with fantasy scoring. If you have any...

Click Here to Purchase PGA Targets CIMB Classic TPC Kuala Lumpur (West) Par 72 - 6,951 Yards After a soggy Safeway Open it was Brendan Steele shooting an impressive final round 65 to take home the first tournament of the year. He did so by hitting Greens in Regulation at a 64.3% clip while the average for the field sat at 53%. It was Steele's second career win and first since the 2011 season. On to next week where we hopefully have some better weather. This week the PGA Tour packs up and heads across the pond to Malaysia for the 2016/2017 CIMB Classic. The host course is TPC Kuala Lumpur which was formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club. It is short Par 72 course coming in just under 7,000 yards with average greens and some real mind tests for the golfers. There are some well placed bunkers which will force a lot of players to club back off the tee to hit the right spots to present attainable approach shots. There are also some risk/reward Par 4's that are driveable by most but will punish you if you miss in the wrong areas. Last year Justin Thomas won with Adam Scott finishing runner up. Both ranked worse than 150th in Driving Accuracy at the end of the season. The year before that Ryan Moore won with Kevin Na right behind him. Both ranked worse than 145th in Driving Distance with Moore ranking 11th in Accuracy and Na 84th. What does this tell us? Neither stat is going to be a great indicator of success this week. Because of this I will be concentrating on Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, Par 5 Scoring , Birdie or Better % and Bogey Avoidance. Let's dig in to some top picks this week. If you have any questions leading up to lineup lock Thursday morning you can reach me in a variety of ways. Leave a Q below in the comment section and I will get you an answer.
