The Masters One of the most prestigious events in all of sports is finally here as the golf world travels to Augusta, Georgia for the 2017 Masters. It kicks off the Major Championship season in a big way and is the only Major of the four hosted at the same venue annually. It starts with the iconic drive down Magnolia Lane that opens up to the clubhouse and beautiful Masters logo that is cut into the flower bed on the hill out front. The tournament started back in 1934 with Horton Smith winning the inaugural event. It wasn't until 1949, however, when the tradition of the Green Jacket began with Sam Snead claiming the first of his three career Masters wins. Jack Nicklaus holds the record for most Masters wins with six while Tiger Woods and the late Arnold Palmer are tied for second with four Masters wins. The course was originally designed by Bobby Jones with help from Alistar Mackenzie and over the years has seen a ton of changes from many other architects. I found a terrific visual courtesy of Golf Digest of these changes through the years if you are interested in the history of the course. If you are really only interested in winning a MILLION dollars this week, you came to the right place. That's right. DraftKings is giving away a cool Million bucks to the winner of their $33 Milli Maker contest this weekend. The pricing is very soft which makes almost any lineup you construct look terrific pre-tournament so we will need to be very strategic in finding ways to separate us from the field and take home the mother load. Didn't win any tickets or just don't want to risk $33 an entry into a very...

If you are looking for some help with either sheet please go check out my YouTube video going over this week's sheet for the Shell Houston Open. Shell Houston Open Here we are just one week away from the biggest tournament in golf and a chance to win a cool Million Dollars on DraftKings. Before we get ahead ourselves, however, we have to get through one more week which turns out to be an excellent rehearsal for the Masters. The Shell Houston Open and this course(now named Golf Club of Houston) has hosted this tournament for over 10 years now and tailored the course to represent a very close comparison to Augusta National. From the shaved banks to the overseeded Bermuda greens that come very close to the speed of the Augusta Bentgrass tops. These are just some of the reasons why the tournament director has no problem drawing some of the best golfers in the world. This year we have four of the Top 10 and 15 of the world's Top 50 golfers. Let's take a look at the last five year's winners and the scorecard before jumping into the fantasy approach. 2016 - Jim Herman(-15) 2015 - J.B. Holmes(-16) 2014 - Matt Jones(-15) 2013 - D.A. Points(-16) 2012 - Hunter Mahan(-16) The Course Golf Club of Houston Par 72 - 7,457 Yards Greens - Bermuda *Click to enlarge* The Stats & Fantasy Approach My main model will once again be leaning heavily on Ball Striking 2.0 (Strokes Gained Off the Tee+Approach) with a sprinkle of Driving Distance, Par 4 and 5 scoring and of course Birdie or Better %. The rough is short and won't hurt the players who aren't as accurate, for the most part. I say this as there is water in play on about half the holes. Looking at the cheatsheet and the last three years results with year-end...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings – Puerto Rico Open
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings - Puerto Rico Open DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis, and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings. It is a link to a shared google sheet in "View Only" mode. It shows every golfer and his DraftKings salary, Vegas odds, Official World Golf Ranking, raw stats, course history, current form, tournament past 4 years results(if applicable) and correlated stats. I also have weighted stats and weighted overall rankings. If you want to make your own model with the sheet go to "File" at the top and "Make a Copy". If you need help please reach out to me on Twitter or in the DFSR chatroom on Wednesday morning and evening. Puerto Rico Open With no daily fantasy going on for the World Golf Championship Match Play event, we are left with the Puerto Rico Open. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be there as the course and area is absolutely beautiful but the field makes me want to vomit. Each week I track the Official World Golf Ranking of each player and then average that out to get a feel for the field strength. On a normal week with at least a few of the top players, we see an average in the 200's and the WGC events usually in the 80's or 90's. This week, however, the average is 564! That's right, with 64 of the Top 70 players teeing it up at the Match Play event we are left with just seven of the Top 100 players in the world. It is by far the worst field of the season but there are DraftKings contests and hey, what better do we have to do for four days this weekend? Speaking of those DraftKings contests, they were drastically reduced this week, like they were last year so be sure to get in and reserve your seats early. You can always tinker with those lineups leading up to lineup lock on Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. bright and early. Also, don't...

This year's Arnold Palmer Invitational will have a completely different feel than the 38 before it as the "King" himself will not be there to hand off the trophy on Sunday. It will be an emotional week for many as they are reminded of all the amazing things Arnold Palmer has done on, and most importantly, off the course. His gigantic smile may be gone but the Legacy of who Arnold Palmer was and what he meant to the game of golf will always live on! While only two Americans(Bubba Watson & Rickie Fowler) in the Top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking will be at Bay Hill this week, the field is still very strong. Five of the Top 10 players and 29 of the Top 50 have accepted their invites to honor the King and try and win the tournament. Before getting into the picks, let's take a look at the course. The Course Bay Hill Club & Lodge - Orlando, FL Par 72 - 7,419 Yards Greens - Bermuda *Click to enlarge* Bay Hill is a Par 72 setup that stretches 7,419 yards through tree lined fairways with a heavy presence of water and sand. If you are looking for a recap of last week's WGC Mexico Championship be sure to visit Chris's BLOG where he breaks down the DraftKings points, ownership, and world golf rankings. Valspar Championship After a little trip across the wall....I mean border, the PGA Tour returns to the Florida swing for the 2017 Valspar Championship. After a very strong field that included 49 of the Top 50 in the world in Mexico, we aren't nearly as fortunate this week as we have just two of the Top 10 with Justin Thomas(#7) and Henrik Stenson(#6). Three more inside the Top 20 including Patrick Reed(#12), Bubba Watson(#16) and Matt Kuchar(#20) and just 15 of the Top 50 in the world. This means we are going to see a ton of golfers who will come with much higher salaries than their season average. Before getting into the picks let's take a look at the course and key stats. The Course Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead Course) Par 71 - 7,340 Yards Greens - Bermuda *Click to enlarge* The Copperhead course is considered one of the toughest tests in golf outside the Majors and the scorecard doesn't quite tell the entire story. The first thing we notice is that Copperhead is unique with five Par 3's and all five come in at 195 yards or greater. Take...

WGC Mexico Championship This week 77 invited players head South of the border for the World Golf Championship Mexico Championship. You may not recognize the name as it will be the first time since 2006 that the first WGC event of the calendar year won't be held at the Blue Monster at Trump National Doral. Could it be more ironic that the event was moved from one of POTUS, Donald Trump's most famous courses to Mexico? How many times do you think he or the Blue Monster will be mentioned this week? I am taking bets all week. All political talk aside, we have a very interesting tournament to break down. First of all, we get an elite field that includes 49 of the world's Top 50 players. Jason Day withdrew early in the week. It will be Dustin Johnson's first start defending the #1 spot in the World Golf Rankings and it appears the trend of the elite players winning will continue this week. Since rookie John Rahm won the Farmers Insurance Open back at the end of January, we have seen wins from world #4 Hideki Matsuyama, #6 Jordan Spieth, now #1 Dustin Johson and #9 Rickie Fowler who won the Honda Classic this past weekend. The most interesting part about this week WGC event is the course which will...
