A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier Welcome back golf fans. This week the PGA Tour travels to West Virginia for the newly named A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. It's another weak field event as none of the Top 10 and only eight of the World's Top 50 golfers are teeing up this week at the Old White TPC. The course as you may or may not remember was under water two years ago as a result of flooding which ended up canceling the event. The crew worked very hard after the water washed away and they were able to rebuild all the greens and get the course running for last years event where Xander Schauffele hoisted the hardware with a winning score of -14. The Par 70 setup plays just under 7,300 yards but with elevation close to 2,000 feet, it plays much shorter and can turn into a birdie fest as six of the Par 4's fall between 400 and 450 yards. The two Par 5's also play as the easiest holes on the course so gaining birdie or better on those is crucial to climb up the leaderboard. From a fantasy perspective, I am going pretty simple with my main model this week looking at Strokes Gained: Approach, Par 4 & 5 Scoring, and Birdie or Better %. Let's jump in and take a look at some of the top players when looking at course history, current form, and the stats model. Quicken Loans National Welcome back fantasy golf fans! After an even-par, opening round 70, Bubba Watson climbed the leaderboard in a hurry shooting 63, 67, and 63 once again on Sunday to grab his third win at the Travelers Championship last weekend. He did so with an elite ball striking performance finishing 4th in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, 18th in Strokes Gained: Approach and then also finished 22nd in Strokes Gained: Putting. This week the PGA Tour travels to TPC Potomac for the 2018 Quicken Loans National. You may not be as familiar with the course as it was brought back into the Tour rotation for last years event meaning we have limited to data to go off for course history. Kyle Stanley took home the hardware last year after a playoff with Charles Howell III as both golfers finished with a seven under. One thing we learned from last year was that TPC Potomac plays very difficult as displayed by the winning score and was ranked inside the Top 10 in hardest courses on tour in 2017. The fairways are narrow and the rough can be very penal which puts a ton of emphasis on Strokes Gained: Off the Tee /Accuracy(Fairways Gained if using Fantasy National). You will also see a heavy dose of "Less than Driver" gameplans off the tee. Below is a quote from last year(via Future of Fantasy Golfanac): With the course being a Par 70, there are 12 Par 4's with six of them coming in at 450-500 yards in length. There will also be heavy emphasis on Par 4 Scoring in my model while I will be looking closely at that yardage range as well on Fantasy National. As always Strokes Gained: Approach will be there with a focus on long iron play as you will see below in the approach shot distribution snapshot. With limited course history this week,...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – Travelers Championship

Travelers Championship The 2018 season's second major championship is in the books and it was Brooks Koepka walking away with the trophy for the second straight year. It was the first time since Curtis Strange in '88/'89 and only the second time in the 118 year history that a player has won back to back U.S. Open's and like most players in the field, it was a roller coaster ride. Brooks opened with a 75 on Thursday and appeared to be in trouble when looking at the cutline going into Friday but responded in a big way with a 66. He battled through a wacky Saturday round with a 72 when it appeared the USGA lost the course but with the average score being 75, he entered the final round in a four-way tie with Dustin Johnson, Tony Finau, and Daniel Berger. He opened the final round with three birdies in his first five holes and then the pressure built through the day as Tommy Fleetwood posted an incredible 63 to take the clubhouse lead at +2. It didn't seem to faze Koepka whatsoever as he finished with a back nine, even par 35 to win by a stroke. Amazing week! This week the PGA Tour gets back to a more of a conventional course as it heads to TPC River Highlands for the Travelers Championship. Despite coming just days after the U.S. Open, the field is loaded at the top with two of the Top 5(Koepka, Thomas), five of the Top 10(Spieth, McIlroy, Day) and 23 of the Top 50 players in the world. The course is a Pete Dye designed Par 70 that comes in just over 6,840 yards and has a mix of Bentgrass and POA greens. While the fairways are generous and produce a higher than average % hit, you have to place the ball in the right spots to be able have a decent shot at the greens. Getting out of position off the tee, especially in the rough, can...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – 118th U.S. Open

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - 118th U.S. Open DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis, and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings and FanDuel. Grab your copy today and edge out the competition. 118th U.S. Open Welcome back golf fans. The second Major Championship of the season is upon us and the course rotation has brought the Tour back to Shinnecock Hills once again. You may remember the last time it was held here back in 2004 when a lack of water and lots of wind dried out the course to almost unplayable conditions. The worst was hole seven where chip shots hit near the hole still ended up rolling back off the green. You can bet things will be different this time as the oldest course in the country is set to host the 118th United States Open. The course is a Par 70 and has seen some changes since the 2004 U.S. Open, most notably it has been lengthened over 400 yards(now over 7,400 yards) and in turn, has seen some of the fairways widened. The USGA, however, did tighten up some of the fairways in key landing areas which put some emphasis on ball placement to avoid not only bunkers(over 120 on the course in total) but some very thick rough which will result in some unplayable lies. With the added length, approach shots, for the most part, will come from the 175+ yard range which will make long iron play very important this week. The greens are large and undulated and with any U.S. Open will be very fast which also brings Proximity into effect in a big way as missing the key areas on these greens will likely lead to three-putts and big numbers on the scorecard. With the runoffs around these greens combined with the difficulty in hitting the greens(guessing field average of about 55-60% GIR) players who want to lurk on the leaderboard will also have to be ready to get creative around the greens and have a strong scrambling game. For my cheatsheet this week, I won't...
