The Honda Classic After a pit stop in Mexico for the second World Golf Championship fo the season, the PGA Tour will begin the four-event Florida swing in Palm Beach Gardens with The Honda Classic. With the event being moved and sandwiched between the WGC Mexico and Arnold Palmer Invitational the field is not quite as strong overall this time around but is still strong at the top with three of the World's Top 10 players(Justin Thomas #3, Brooks Koepka #4, Rickie Fowler #9) teeing it up this week. The PGA National Champions course is consistently ranked among the Tour's toughest non-major tests and it shows with a winning score that has come in the single digits in five of the last six years. A lot of that higher scoring can be attributed to the wind factor but the good news for this year is that early forecasts are showing wind speeds under 10 mph throughout the event so we could see some lower scoring. That is if the players can avoid the water that is pretty much everywhere at PGA National(in play on 14 of 18 holes). I will be looking heavily at Strokes Gained: Ball Striking this week and with the likelihood we some "less than driver" strategies off the tee I will also be weighted more towards the approach side with long irons being very important with five of the 12 Par 4's over 450 yards. The balance on Bogey Avoidance and Birdie or Better % will be finalized as we see the weather forecast closer to lineup lock but as of now, I am leaning BoB% with the low wind projected. Let's now jump in and look at some course info, trends, and then get into the picks. Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – Genesis Open

Genesis Open This week the PGA Tour heads to Pacific Palisades, California and Riviera Country Club for the 2019 Genesis Open. It's a course and event that always draws a strong field and the same can be said this time around as six of the Top 10 and 29 of the Top 50 players in the world are teeing it up this week. The course is a Par 71 setup that is on the longer side of things at 7,322 yards. As you can see below in the course breakdown, the biggest test for players are the Par 4's and especially the six of them that are between 450 and 500 yards. The fairways are some of the hardest to hit on tour(54% average courtesy of Future of Fantasy Golfanac) and which gives some advantage to the longer hitters as they will be using smaller clubs on their approach shots creating an easier path to a higher ball flight to hit and stick on these smaller than average, fast greens. Not that shorter hitters can't have success here but they have to be very precise with their long irons. While it is one of the tougher events on Tour, the average winning score over the last five years has been -13(high of -17, low of -6) so Birdie or Better % will also be factored into the equation. With all that said, let's take a peek at the course, previous winners, top stats, and then jump into the picks. Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am This week the PGA Tour heads to Pebble Beach for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Similar to the Desert Classic a few weeks back, each player will be paired with an amateur partner for the first three days and play one round on each of the three courses in the rotation. With the cut(Top 60 & ties) coming after the third round on Saturday, there will be a higher number of entries that will get 6/6 through to Sunday or at least have a big enough gap built up where the one extra day wouldn't be enough to catch the cash line. This means we should bake in a little more upside in our models this week. The field is similar to last year in that there are 18 of the Top 50 players in the World teeing it up but the difference this year is that there are only two of the Top 10(Dustin Johnson & Tony Finau). I honestly thought the field would be a bit stronger this year as Pebble Beach Golf Links will play host to the 2019 US Open in June. The field does include veteran Phil Mickelson who returns for the 23rd time and is looking for his fifth career win here and he comes in with fantasy form leading all players in the field in fantasy scoring over their last five events. With three different courses being used, I will be keeping my model quite simple this week with heavy weight on Par 4 Scoring, Birdie or Better % and Strokes gained: Approach. When breaking down SG: Approach, I will be looking closely at Proximity from 125-150 yards with all three courses coming in the sub-7,000-yard range. With the course being set up for the US Open in June where the plan is to narrow the fairways and lengthen the rough,...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – Waste Management Phoenix Open

Waste Management Phoenix Open This week the PGA Tour heads to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Waste Management Phoneix Open. After back to back weeks with multi-course rotations we get just one course this week, TPC Scottsdale, which is most famously known for the iconic Par 3, 16th hole which is completely surrounded by seating and setup with a stadium atmosphere. The event also draws a strong field again this year as three of the Top 10(Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele), seven of the Top 20, and 23 of the Top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings. Overall, the course is fairly generous off the tee but the longer hitters will also have to be accurate to avoid the bunkers in key landing areas. Looking at some of the quotes from players over the years(via Future of Fantasy Golfanac), the rough can be played from so bombers really just need to avoid those bunkers and the rough is not very penal which also leads to a bomb and wedge gameplan. Where players separate themselves comes down to the approach shots to the receptive greens which, as you can see below, will come heavily from the 150-175 yard range and with a winning score average of -16 over the last five years I will also be heavily weighing Birdie or Better %. While there are only three Par 5's on the course, they do produce around 33% of the overall birdies on a yearly basis and with the eagle rate I will also be using Par 5 Birdie or Better %. There is one Par 4 under 400 yards(driveable 17th) and then five that fall between 400 and 450 yards and five between 450 and 500 yards so I will be looking at overall Par 4 Scoring. The weather this week is intriguing in that the first two days before the...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – Farmers Insurance Open

Last week was a "throw out your models" kind of week when looking at the winner as 31-year-old Adam Long put together a tremendous final round 65 to edge out Phil Mickelson and Adam Hadwin by one stroke to grab his first career victory. This week the PGA Tour stays in California and heads slightly south to San Diego for the Farmers Insurance Open. There are two courses used for the event but unlike last week the cut of Top 70 and ties will come after the second round as normal with the final two rounds being played at the host course, Torrey Pines South. The field is one of the strongest of the season so far as it includes World #1 player, Justin Rose, four of the Top 10, and 24 of the Top 50 players in the World. While native Phil Mickelson has decided to skip the event, we do get Tiger Woods making his season debut at a course where he has won a whopping seven times over his career(last in 2013). The host course, Torrey Pines South, is annually one of the toughest tests on Tour at a whopping 7,698 yards long(longest on tour). Torrey Pines North used to be a nice break for the players in the first two days but since being renovated in 2016, has come a lot closer to the South Course in terms of scoring although only 7,258 yards. From a stats model perspective, I will be focusing on the South Course as it will be used for three of the four rounds for those golfers who make the cut. The first thing I am looking at is not only Strokes Gained: Off the Tee but an emphasis on Driving Distance. After that, I am looking at Strokes Gained: Approach and putting more emphasis on Proximity from...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – Desert Classic

Grab your copy today and edge out the competition.   Desert Classic This week the PGA Tour travels to La Quinta, California for the Desert Classic, formerly known as the CareerBuilder Challenge, Humana Challenge, and most famously the Bob Hope Classic. On the surface, the field is not one of the strongest with an average OWGR of 324 but does include the #1 player in the world, Justin Rose and #7 player in the world and defending champion of this event, Jon Rahm. It is one of the most popular Pro-Am events of the season and with that comes a multi-course rotation. For the fourth straight year, the Pete Dye PGA West Stadium Course will play host with the PGA West Nicklaus Course and LA Quinta Country Club also used. Each player will get one round on each course the first three days which will be followed by a cut and a final round on Sunday that will be played at the Stadium Course. All three courses are shorter Par 72 setups with La Quinta CC and the Nicklaus Tournament Course both playing easier than the Stadium Course. Looking at past leaderboards a small trend appears that the preferred draw would be to play one of the two easier courses on day one and two followed by a third round at the Stadium Course. Not only does it give you a chance to get off to a hot start on the easier courses but it also gives those golfers a chance to play the more difficult Stadium Course on back to back days which would be an advantage no doubt. While the Stadium Course is the more difficult test, all three courses are set up more on the easy side to accommodate the vast number of amateurs playing in the first three days. This makes the event turn into a shootout as we have seen the winning score reach -20 or better every single...
