The PLAYERS Championship Welcome back golf fans. I hope you enjoyed the Wells Fargo Championship where Jason Day picked up his second win of the season jumping him from #14 to #7 in the World Golf Rankings. It was no walk in the park, however, even with a two-stroke lead entering the final round as he made back to back Bogey's twice on Sunday giving both Aaron Wise and Nick Watney a shot. Day then pulled it all together and went through the Green Mile at -2 giving him a two-stroke win. This week the PGA Tour heads to TPC Sawgrass for the "Fifth Major", The PLAYERS Championship. The course is a Pete Dye design which automatically puts a ton of emphasis on Ball Striking. Strategic placement of the tee is needed with tight, tree-lined fairways with bunkers and water also in play. A shot that not only finds the fairway but also in the right spot will give the player a decent mid to long iron approach into the greens on most of the holes. TPC Sawgrass is one of the hardest tests on Tour and that is why we see the average winning score around -12. The other thing we will see is most of the players score coming from the four Par 5's as they make up for about 45% of the overall birdies on average. This means playing the Par 4's at even par or slightly below will put you ahead of the majority of the field putting you into contention come Sunday. This is one reason I will be focusing on players who are trending on the Par 4's in my model. Let's now take a look at some of the course details, trends, and then we can jump into the picks for the week looking at course history, current form, and the stats. The...

Valero Texas Open This week the PGA Tour heads back to Texas to TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. It's another weak field event as just one of the World's Top 10(Sergio Garcia) and eight of the Top 50 golfers will be teeing it up this week. This makes pricing a bit inflated, especially for the high-end golfers which can ultimately push us to a more balanced roster construction, at least from a cash game standpoint. The course is a Greg Norman design from 2010 with Sergio as the PGA Tour consultant. It has narrow Oak Tree-lined fairways with a ton native areas and while there is very little water, there are a ton of deep, challenging bunkers. The Oaks course is also a lengthy 7,435 yards so focusing on long hitters is a good strategy as well. There have been some shorter players off the tee who have done well here and if you are looking at some of them this week just make sure they are on point with their long irons and sand game. The average winning score here over the last five years has been -11 so it definitely won't be a birdie fest although I am always weighing Birdie or Better % as it correlates very highly with DraftKings scoring. The other big factor here at TPC San Antonio is the wind so using the multiple sources available(Fantasy National, Future of Fantasy Golfanac) to pick out some strong wind players is definitely a good idea. The forecast is, by no surprise, calling for 12-16 mph winds for Thursday and Friday with guts in the 20 mph range. As of Tuesday, it appears the Thursday afternoon wave may be the one to target if doing a wind stack in GPP formats but be sure to check back on that forecast as lineup lock...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – RBC Heritage
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - RBC Heritage DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. RBC Heritage Another Masters is in the books and for the fourth straight season, the winner made the historic event his first Major Championship. Patrick Reed went into the final round with a three-stroke lead over Rory McIlroy who was chasing the career Grand Slam but it was Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler who put up the biggest fight on Sunday. Spieth made nine birdies and shot a 64 en route to a third-place finish while Fowler came on strong on the back nine with four birdies including one on the 18th to take the Clubhouse lead at -14. Reed walked onto the 18th tee needing only a par to grab the Green Jacket and he did just that with a GIR followed by a two-putt. It was an amazing performance for Reed who led the field in birdies and also added two eagles as well. This week the PGA Tour travels to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the RBC Heritage from Harbour Town Golf Links. The course is a Pet Dye design so you are going to see a shorter course with tree-lined fairways and very small Bermuda greens. It's a big change for those that played Augusta last week as driver distance is not key here but rather hitting the fairways and placing the ball in the right areas to have a shot at the difficult to hit greens. As you will see from my key stats below, Strokes Gained: Off the Tee with emphasis on accuracy will be key along with Strokes Gained: Around the Green/Scrambling. With the course also being a Par 71, that means 11 Par 4 holes this week so I will also be looking at that closely as a key stat especially form key distances. Let's now take a look at some trends, the course, and then dig into some picks focusing on Course...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – The Masters
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - The Masters DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. The Masters Masters week is finally here! Even the casual golf fan realizes the magnitude of this iconic tournament hosted at Augusta National Golf Club. It was Sergio Garcia who, after 73 previous Majors starts, finally broke through here at Augusta and became the Masters Champion last season. It was an epic battle on back nine with Justin Rose that eventually went to a sudden-death playoff where Garcia's two-putt par was enough to take home the hardware and his first ever Major Championship. This year he will look to defend his title against a star-studded field that includes nine of the Top 10 and 49 of the World's Top 50 players. Four-time Masters Champion, Tiger Woods, is also back in the field here at Augusta and has been making the move up the Official World Golf Ranking list as he started outside of 650th before the Hero World Challenge in December and has made his way to #103 entering the week with back to back Top 5 finishes at the Valspar Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational. The Masters also marks the first DraftKings Milli Maker of the year and with that, we get some very soft pricing. From a strategy standpoint, this is a great week to construct your lineups and leave salary on the table to separate your lineups from the field. I am not just talking a couple hundred but rather $500-$1,000 in some spots, especially if running multiple lineups. Also, keep in mind that the cut this week is the Top 50 players and ties through two days along with any player that is within 10 strokes of the lead. Let's now take a look at the course makeup and preview some of the top stats. The Course Augusta National Par 72 - 7,435 Yards Greens - Bentgrass Greens **Click HERE or the pic above to see a...

Houston Open Welcome back to another week of daily fantasy golf. I was off last week where we saw Bubba Watson take down the WGC Del Technologies Match Play and Brice Garnett get his first career victory at the fresh new event, the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. With just one week until the Masters, the PGA Tour travels to Texas for the Houston Open. For those who are already in the field for the Masters, it is a terrific tune-up event as the Golf Club of Houston staff does everything they can to replicate some of the features at Augusta such as shaved banks, fast greens, and thin rough. It isn't exactly like Augusta as the scores here are about double that of the Masters so don't put the blinders on and just use that correlation. Here are a couple quotes from players that can really help in narrowing down what is important here at GC of Houston. For more quotes, be sure to head over to Future of Fantasy and check out the Golfanac. This weeks field is a strong one with three of the Top 10(Spieth, Rose, Fowler) and seven of the Top 25 golfers in the world in action. The defending champion is Russell Henley who took down the tournament last year with a winning score of -20 and over the last five years at this event, we have seen an average winning score of -16. Let's dig in and take a look at the course trends, top stats in the model, and then some of my top picks when looking at course history, current form and stats. Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – Arnold Palmer Invitational
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - Arnold Palmer Invitational DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. Arnold Palmer Invitational It appears we can close the door on another "can't win" name as Paul Casey broke through with his second career PGA Tour win on Sunday. His first win came back at the Shell Houston Open in 2009 which seems like ages ago but almost no one deserved it more than Casey. He had made 25 straight cuts dating back to January 2017(Sony Open) going into the Valspar Championship and since the start of the 2015 season, has made a ridiculous 68 cuts in 77 events(88%) with 27 Top 10 finishes. The other big story from this past week was the incredible performance from Tiger Woods who finished T2 and ranked 14th in SG: OTT, 8th in SG: APP, and 5th in SG: ATG. His weak spot, and it wasn't that weak, was his putting which ranked 39th in the field. The highlight of the weekend? His 44-foot putt on the 17th hole to climb within one, which if you are human, must have given you chills of days of old. Check it out. This week the PGA Tour heads to Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The course is very demanding off the tee with trees, bunkers in the landing zones, water, and doglegs which put a premium on hitting the fairway to get a shot at hitting the greens in regulation. This will once again bring the "less than driver" strategy off the tee into play on a handful of the Par 4 holes and combined with length will leave players with a lot of 200+ yard approaches(see shot distribution below). The most convincing player quote I read this week(via Future of Fantasy Golfanac) is from Rickie Fowler: Getting through the Par 4's at par or a few strokes below for the week will be huge in trying...
