Wyndham Championship With just one week left in the regular season, the PGA Tour heads to Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship. For those golfers outside the Top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings, it will be their final opportunity to play their way into the Northern Trust next week. For reference, I have added the FedEx Cup rankings to the sheet. Sedgefield CC is a Donald Ross designed Par 70 that is just over 7,100 yards. Off the tee, golfers will see narrow fairways with risk-reward options on some holes in terms of how much you want to challenge the water/creeks. This, as designed by Ross, puts a ton of emphasis on not only hitting the fairway but positioning yourself for a clear approach shot. After a strong mix of ball striking stats in my model, I will be adding some scrambling and a lot of weight to birdie or better % as the average winning score has been -20 over the last five years. For Par 4 scoring, I will be looking at the 400-450 yard range as eight of the 12 holes fall into this distance range. There are only two Par 5's on the course but they are, by far, the easiest holes on the course and with a ton of eagles made on these holes, I will be looking at Par 5 Birdie or Better % not just Par 5 scoring. With that, let's jump in and look at some course info and trends and then some core plays in each price range. The 148th OPEN Championship The final major of the 2018-19 season has finally arrived as the top players in the world head to Royal Portrush Golf Club for the 148th OPEN Championship, and for the first time since 1951. While we have no course history at this event to pull from, the European Tour did play the Irish Open at Portrush in 2012. There won't be much to draw from that when breaking down stats as there are two brand new holes(#7, #8) which replace the old 17th and 18th holes. Those are not the only changes to the course as there are five new greens, eight new tee boxes(to help add some length and strategy), and 10 new bunkers. Even with the those added bunkers it is still the lowest bunker count(58) of any OPEN venue but don't think it will be out of the player's heads. From looking at images and hearing what players are saying, the difficulty level will be elevated if you find yourself in one of these bunkers. Like any "true" Links course, the biggest defense is always the weather and no tournament is more important to pay attention to this narrative right up to(or close to) lock. The fairways are slightly wider than PGA Tour average taking away the need for accuracy a bit the other factor besides wind that can change that is the thicker than normal rough we see at the OPEN. Early reports are showing players using a "less than driver" strategy to ensure fairway hit and shot at the greens. As of now, I am simply looking at Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, especially in the short-term coming into this week. Looking at the projected approach shot distances, it looks like golfers will see plenty of mid-iron approach with six of the Par 4's falling between 400 and 450 yards mixed with...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – John Deere Classic

John Deere Classic With the OPEN Championship at Royal Portrush just a week away we have a very interesting week for daily fantasy golf. A lot of players have already made their way across the pond to play the Irish Open last week, including Jon Rahm who won the event, and this week another group of top players heads over to play in the Scottish Open. That leaves us with another weak-field John Deere Classic that contains no players inside the Top 50 and just 12 who rank inside the Top 100 in the Official World Golf Rankings. While the field lacks the top talent in the World, it more than makes up for it with a ton of young, talented, and exciting players. In a better field last week at TPC Twin Cities we saw Matthew Wolff, a shot behind Bryson DeChambeau already in the clubhouse, make a 26-foot Eagle putt for the win on the 18th hole. TPC Deere Run is a Par 71 that has a posted distance of 7,268 yards. It is one of the easiest courses on Tour routinely ranking around 40th(of about 50 courses) in difficulty annually and -22 has been the average winning score over the last five years here. One of the things that drives the lack of difficulty(for Tour Pros) are the wider than average fairways that produce an average driving accuracy over 70%. While the Bentgrass greens are slightly smaller than average(5,500 sq ft), they are soft and slow(11.5 on stimpmeter) and very receptive making them play bigger while generating a GIR above 70% on average. This puts a ton of emphasis on Strokes Gained: Approach and I will also be looking at Proximity from the mid yardages ranges(125-175 yards). Looking at previous leaderboards(via Fantasy National), I also noticed a much higher correlation from Par 4 Scoring to finish position than par 5...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – 3M Open
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – 3M Open Chris will be bringing you weekly PGA picks, analysis, and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings and FanDuel. As every week in DFS PGA changes with the course setup, field of players and weather, Chris will be providing a range of different picks for cash games as well as upside plays for tournaments. Grab your copy today and edge out the competition. 3M Open This week the PGA Tour travels to Blaine, Minnesota for the 3M Open, a new event on Tour. It will be played at TPC Twin Cities which had hosted a PGA Champions Tour event(3M Championship) from 2001 until last season. It regularly produced low scores and while it has been lengthened around 250-300 yards, I still think we see a birdie fest this week. The field is led by World #1 Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau(#8) joins him as the only other player inside the Top 10 World Golf Rankings. Overall, there are just nine of the Top 50 and 28 of the Top 100 players teeing it up this week. TPC Twin Cities plays as a Par 72 for it's members but will play as a Par 71 this week and comes in at over 7,400 yards. While water comes into play on 15 of the 18 holes, the fairways are very generous and should produce a higher than average driving accuracy. When breaking down Ball Striking, which I feel is the most important every week, I will be weighing Strokes Gained: Approach quite a bit more than Off the Tee. The greens at TPC Twin Cities are larger than average(average 6,500 sq ft) so I will also be weighing Proximity to the Hole. My overall thought on the event is that we have a good weather forecast on a course that should produce a winning score around -18 to -22. I will be focusing a lot of my time on players form, especially in the key stats over the last 12 and 24 round sample sizes(via Fantasy National). Let's jump into the picks. Rocket Mortgage Classic This week the PGA Tour will visit Detroit, Michigan for the first time for a brand new event, the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The host will be the Detroit Golf Club which was founded in 1899 and started out as a six-hole course that has evolved over 100 years into a 36-hole club including the Donald Ross-designed North and South courses. This is where we will be concentrating our time this week as the team at Detroit Golf Club has meshed the two together to feature a new 18-hole layout that will be played by the Tour players this week. Like most Donald Ross course's, it is unique as he used the land available to him to create the course rather than moving dirt to fit his design. Looking at some Google Earth images and watching some videos on the course here is my breakdown. It is a tree-lined course with some very tight driving holes and bunkers in key landing zones off the tee. That combined with rough that is projected to be around 3.5" long(higher than Tour average) puts emphasis on the Off the Tee game, especially accuracy. My guess would be that the field will average about 55-60% fairways hit for the week. With four of the 10 Par 4's coming under 400 yards, we will also likely see some "Less than Driver" strategies off the tee as well to ensure position for the second shot. The next challenge is the approach shot which, at times, will come from some uneven lies with the undulation throughout the course. The greens also present a challenge as they are slightly smaller than Tour average and also very undulated and expected to be around 12-12.5 on the stimpmeter. When breaking down Strokes Gained: Approach I will be looking closely at Proximity and with the projected lower fairways hit #, I will...

Travelers Championship This week the PGA Tour heads to Cromwell, Connecticut for the 2019 Travelers Championship. Despite the grueling summer schedule and the U.S. Open just wrapping up, the field is loaded with five of the Top 10(Koepka, Molinari, Thomas, Cantlay, DeChambeau) and 22 of the Top 50 players in the world teeing it up this week. Also of note when looking at the field are the sponsor exemptions starting with Victor Hovland making his pro debut this week after a T12 at the U.S. Open. Matthew Wolff, who was ranked #2 in the World Amateur rankings behind Hovland will also be making his pro debut this week. Collin Morikawa and Justin Suh also got exemptions, both of which turned pro earlier in the summer after outstanding college careers. TPC River Highlands is a Pete Dye-designed Par 70 and at just 6,841 yards it is one of the shortest courses on Tour. While that immediately steers me to driving accuracy and fairways gained when starting my model, we see that hasn't been the case here. Two bombers in Bubba and J.B. Holmes finished 1st/2nd here last year and both lost over three strokes to the field in fairways gained. In 2017, three of the Top 4 on the leaderboard lost strokes gaining fairways and in 2016 three of the Top 5 lost strokes in that area. While it can give you an advantage hitting the fairway, it is not crucial this week but one thing all of those players mentioned above had in common are that they gained strokes when looking at Good Drives Gained. So from that, I will be weighing Strokes Gained: Ball Striking as a whole this week. The other key stat for me will be Par 4 Scoring as there are 12 on this course and if you are using Fantast National, make sure to key in on the 400-450...
