Rocket Mortgage Classic This week the PGA Tour will visit Detroit, Michigan for the first time for a brand new event, the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The host will be the Detroit Golf Club which was founded in 1899 and started out as a six-hole course that has evolved over 100 years into a 36-hole club including the Donald Ross-designed North and South courses. This is where we will be concentrating our time this week as the team at Detroit Golf Club has meshed the two together to feature a new 18-hole layout that will be played by the Tour players this week. Like most Donald Ross course's, it is unique as he used the land available to him to create the course rather than moving dirt to fit his design. Looking at some Google Earth images and watching some videos on the course here is my breakdown. It is a tree-lined course with some very tight driving holes and bunkers in key landing zones off the tee. That combined with rough that is projected to be around 3.5" long(higher than Tour average) puts emphasis on the Off the Tee game, especially accuracy. My guess would be that the field will average about 55-60% fairways hit for the week. With four of the 10 Par 4's coming under 400 yards, we will also likely see some "Less than Driver" strategies off the tee as well to ensure position for the second shot. The next challenge is the approach shot which, at times, will come from some uneven lies with the undulation throughout the course. The greens also present a challenge as they are slightly smaller than Tour average and also very undulated and expected to be around 12-12.5 on the stimpmeter. When breaking down Strokes Gained: Approach I will be looking closely at Proximity and with the projected lower fairways hit #, I will...

Toyota/Save Mart 350 Sonoma Raceway - Sonoma, CA Track - 1.99 Mile Road Course After an off-week for Father's Day, the Monster Energy Cup Series gets back on track for the first road course race of the season at Sonoma Raceway. The road courses are all unique in their own way with Sonoma tighter and more technical of the tracks. This year will also be different as Sonoma has brought back the "carousel" between turns three and seven for the first time since 1997 meaning no driver has raced this circuit in the Cup series. It adds a long sweeping left-hand turn into the drag strip straight away and adds another opportunity for passing going into Turn 7. It should make for some exciting racing for the fans and also add some strategy and setup issues for the race teams. Buckle up! Looking at the race from a fantasy perspective, finishing position is more important than ever with just 110 laps in the race. Only once in the last five races here at Sonoma has a driver led more than 50 laps and only twice in the last six races has there been more than two drivers to lead 20 or more laps. While you would think the correlation between starting and finishing position would be high on a track like this, it hasn't exactly been that way lately. We have seen sub .500 correlation here in two straight and three of the last four races here and five or fewer drivers starting Top 10 and finishing there in four of the last five races here. Let's take a look at some track and track type history with some form trends and then dig into the picks. Travelers Championship This week the PGA Tour heads to Cromwell, Connecticut for the 2019 Travelers Championship. Despite the grueling summer schedule and the U.S. Open just wrapping up, the field is loaded with five of the Top 10(Koepka, Molinari, Thomas, Cantlay, DeChambeau) and 22 of the Top 50 players in the world teeing it up this week. Also of note when looking at the field are the sponsor exemptions starting with Victor Hovland making his pro debut this week after a T12 at the U.S. Open. Matthew Wolff, who was ranked #2 in the World Amateur rankings behind Hovland will also be making his pro debut this week. Collin Morikawa and Justin Suh also got exemptions, both of which turned pro earlier in the summer after outstanding college careers. TPC River Highlands is a Pete Dye-designed Par 70 and at just 6,841 yards it is one of the shortest courses on Tour. While that immediately steers me to driving accuracy and fairways gained when starting my model, we see that hasn't been the case here. Two bombers in Bubba and J.B. Holmes finished 1st/2nd here last year and both lost over three strokes to the field in fairways gained. In 2017, three of the Top 4 on the leaderboard lost strokes gaining fairways and in 2016 three of the Top 5 lost strokes in that area. While it can give you an advantage hitting the fairway, it is not crucial this week but one thing all of those players mentioned above had in common are that they gained strokes when looking at Good Drives Gained. So from that, I will be weighing Strokes Gained: Ball Striking as a whole this week. The other key stat for me will be Par 4 Scoring as there are 12 on this course and if you are using Fantast National, make sure to key in on the 400-450...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – 119th U.S. Open

Grab your copy today and edge out the competition. 119th U.S. Open After a Rory McIlroy thumping at the RBC Canadian Open, the Tour heads to the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links for the 119th U.S. Open. It is the sixth time that Pebble Beach has hosted the United States Open and first since 2010 when Graeme McDowell hoisted the trophy with a winning score of Even Par. The field is led by back to back U.S. Open Champion and #1 player in the World, Brooks Koepka and he is accompanied by each of the other Top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings. With the rotation in the course played each year, I have added the last five years results but have a very low weight(5%) on that. Just enough to see who consistently performs well on these very tough US Open setups. I have also added the results of the 2010 U.S. Open, the last time it was played here at Pebble Beach. There really isn't any merit in looking at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am results as it has a three-course rotation using Pebble once pre-cut for each player and then again on the final round. What you can do is check out the Fantasy National tools and use the filter to get performance solely on Pebble Beach Golf Links. I will be adding this to my custom model this week as well. While "looking" at the Pebble Beach course history is fine, modeling around it just doesn't work. Golfers are going to see a slightly different course this week, specifically off the tee as the fairways have been narrowed with length added to many holes with some new tee boxes added. Tiger Woods also talked about the course "playing" very long when he practiced here at the end May. One of the biggest differences is the conversion of the second hole from a Par 5 to one of...
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Report – 6/10/19
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Report - 6/10/19 Hello baseball fans and welcome to my new article series covering season-long baseball. To start, I will be looking at players who are widely available across fantasy leagues(60% or less owned). While the draft process is very important at the start of the season, being active on the waiver wire is the key to the six-month grind that is fantasy baseball. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB and NBA optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Starting Pitchers Cal Quantrill(SP-SDP) 2% owned The Padres have the 11th best rotation ERA(4.08) in baseball and what makes that even more impressive is that the average age under 25. Looking at average ownerships(yahoo), Joey Lucchesi is still available in about 30-35% of leagues and even Eric Lauer who has pitched well as of late is available in about 70-75% of leagues. Chances are Lucchesi is already gone if you are playing at least a 10-man competitive league so let's go another direction and concentrate on deeper leagues. Cal Quantrill was the Padres first-round pick(8th overall) in 2016 and he has flown through the minors despite average stats. He has split time between AAA and San Diego this season and with the injury to Matt Strahm, he is getting more opportunity. Outside of one bad start vs. the Pirates, he has held opponents to three or fewer earned runs in four of his five starts and has an xFIP(4.01) close to a run lower than his ERA(4.85). That isn't the only regression number that pops either as he has an xwOBA(.326) lower than his wOBA(.356) and xSLG(.438) lower than his SLG(.515). He has also provided some upside lately with 16 strikeouts in his last two starts and is backed up by a 13.7% swinging strike rate. He will likely get sent back down at some point when Strahm returns but for now makes an excellent streamer, especially considering his next matchup could be against the Giants early next week. Pick up if: You need a streamer in your rotation or you playing in a dynasty/keeper league John Means(SP-BAL)41% owned If you have followed my DFS writings here at DFSR or spent time in chat, you have likely heard me talk about regression a ton with John Means. Well, I am giving in(somewhat). Since getting the full-time gig in the rotation at the end of April, he has gone at least five innings in all eight starts while holding opponents to one or fewer earned runs in five of them. The issue that pops up immediately...

FireKeepers Casino 400 Michigan International Speedway - Brooklyn, MI Track - 2 Mile D-Shaped Oval 18° of Banking This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway for the FireKeepers Casino 400 on Sunday afternoon. While last week was a tough race for passing with the new package, that is not expected to be the case at Michigan which has more banking and should lead to more drafting, big runs, passing, and lead changes. That is great news for Michigan fans as this track has provided one of the highest correlations between starting and finishing position in the sport. For fantasy, we have seen a driver lead 100 or more laps just twice in the last five races and expect that trend to continue with the new rules package that should lead to a lot of lead changes. We will have to confirm in the two Friday practices but I also think stacking teammates is fully in play here again this week with the drafting I think we see. Last Six Winners at Michigan Kevin Harvick(started 3rd, led 108 laps) Clint Bowyer(started 12th, led 8 laps) Kyle Larson(started 9th, led 2 laps) Kyle Larson(started 1st, led 96 laps) Kyle Larson(started 12th, led 41 laps) Joey Logano(started 1st, led 138 laps) Weekend Schedule Practice #1 - Friday @ 2:05 pm ET Practice #2 - Friday @ 4:05 pm ET Inspection - Saturday Pre-Qualifying Qualifying - Saturday @ 12:05 pm ET Race - Sunday @ 2:00 pm ET Track History at Michigan If it's consistency you are after, look no further than Chase Elliott who returns to Michigan with a Top 10 finish in all six career races which includes three runner-up finishes. The only knock here is that he has not led a lap over the last four races here and is averaging just 43.4 DraftKings points per race(7th best) but on FanDuel he is averaging 55.3 points per race, second to only Kevin Harvick. Kyle Busch returns to Michigan with...
