Injury analysis for week 9 of NFL DFS on FanDuel and DraftKings
Injury analysis for week 9 of NFL DFS on FanDuel and DraftKings Welcome to our weekly injury analysis article! It's an odd week with injuries, and a lot of decisions that might come down to the wire. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Quarterback Matthew Stafford FD 7500 DK 6600 Opponent MIN Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Stafford's situation is actually pretty complicated right now. He hasn't had a positive COVID test, but was around people who did. He can still theoretically be activated for Sunday's game, but we won't know until Sunday. His status is pretty important for potential cash game options TJ Hockenson and Marvin Jones Jr., both of whom become unplayable if Stafford doesn't suit up here. Gardner Minshew II FD 7000 DK 5800 Opponent HOU Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Minshew has already been ruled out of the Jags' game against the Texans, leaving an already bad offense without their starting quarterback. Perhaps this leaves extra touches for James Robinson? Robinson isn't priced for cash game consideration, though, and this move should really only impact your big tournament lineups (if that). Jake Luton is not playable. Running Back Christian McCaffrey FD 9500 DK 8500 Opponent KC Proj Points FD - 17 DK - 18.69 Well, this is news! Everyone's RB1 heading into the year looks to be returning for the Panthers' tilt against the Chiefs, which should at the very least excite season-long fantasy owners. For DFS purposes, though, I'm not sure how much we should read into this. The Panthers are 10.5 point underdogs, and Davis has been reasonable in McCaffrey's absence. Adding all these factors together has me wanting to leave C-Mac on the shelf, and I'll be closely monitoring how he is used here to see if I should consider him in future weeks. Ezekiel Elliott FD 8000 DK 6600 Opponent PIT Proj Points FD - 13.44 DK - 14.84 Zeke was limited in practice throughout the week, and there is interesting phrasing around his status, which suggests that his "workload" is a gametime decision. That's a red flag to the max if you're considering playing Zeke in this horrendous match-up, but also implies that you can't consider his back-ups either. Josh Jacobs FD 7700 DK 6300 Opponent LAC Proj Points FD - 16.36 DK - 18 There were questions around Jacobs' status throughout the week, but he returned from his illness on Friday and practiced. He's a reasonable big tournament play...

There is a lot more clarity heading into week 9 than there was in week 8, but that doesn't necessarily make it an easier one. There are a lot of close decisions at every position. How do we decide between Russell Wilson or Patrick Mahomes? What do we do if we lose the Texans game to Covid? At running back there is a glut of guys that look awfully similar. Do we lean into David Johnson, or do we try and get greedy with a play like Antonio Gibson or David Montgomery? Or can we move in the other direction, paying up for James Conner? Wide receiver doesn't get any easier, with a lack of cheap options really pressuring our budget. There are a handful of fun mid-range options like Keenan Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Tyler Lockett, but we might not have the money left over to afford it. Can we instead look to Marvin Jones Jr., Brandin Cooks, or even Sterling Shepard? There are a lot of nuanced conversations this week, and this is not a podcast you're going to want to miss. DFS NFL Podcast – Week 9 Cash Game Podcast for DraftKings and FanDuel
DFS NFL Podcast - Week 9 Cash Game Podcast for DraftKings and FanDuel Enjoy our week 9 NFL cash game podcast, where Doug and James take an early look at cash game plays for week 9 of NFL DFS on FanDuel and DraftKings. James and Doug are back to take an early look at cash games for a much more sane week 9 on FanDuel and DraftKings. We have a lot of good options at quarterback this week, and it really comes down to fitting one into the price tier you're looking for. Whether it's Watson, Murray, or Herbert, it's going to be tough to feel too bad about where you land. Running back offers similar chalk options in Dalvin Cook and Chase Edmonds, but the potential third slot leaves something to be desired. The guys discuss the pros and cons of options like David Johnson and Antonio Gibson, while allowing for the possibility that a cheap play could come along and change things up considerably. Wide receiver has a few great options in Julio Jones and Brandin Cooks, with a lot of question marks around who goes in that third slot. Do we roll the dice on a cheap Detroit wide receiver, or bite the bullet and pay up elsewhere? Tight end basically comes down to a decision between paying up for Kelce or punting to a risky, touchdown-dependent option. The best of those appears to be TJ Hockenson given Golladay's absence, but the guys throw out other names like Noah Fant or Evan Engram as well. Love the DFSR podcast? START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Quarterbacks Deshaun Watson FD 8300 DK 7100 Opponent JAXProj Points FD - 24.52 DK - 25.36 The Texans’ season hasn’t gone exactly to plan which is something of an understatement. They are 1-6, have already fired their coach/GM and there’s not a lot of hope on the horizon. But there is reason to suspect Watson can put up points in this matchup. He’s getting to face the worst defense in football in the Jacksonville Jaguars who rank 32nd overall and 32nd against the pass as well. This is the dream matchup for Watson who has been (fantasy-wise) awesome since O’Brien exited. Over the last four games, Watson is averaging 326 passing yards and 2.75 passing touchdowns per while also getting out for 25 yards on the ground. He’s right back to being one of the elite fantasy quarterbacks, something we didn’t see over the first few weeks of the season. Considering how bad the Jaguars are on D, this would be a tough fade in cash games. Kyler Murray FD 8600 DK 7800 Opponent MIAProj Points FD - 23.78 DK - 24.55 To be clear, I think Watson is the clear choice for cash games this week considering the matchup and just what he’s been able to do under the coaching regime. That being said, I think there’s going to be enough value elsewhere to almost have to pay up for one of these top-tier quarterback options. Murray definitely fits that bill this week. On the season, he’s the second overall FanDuel points-per-game scorer and gets it done in every phase of the game. He leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards (437) and rushing touchdowns (7) which helps make up for being merely middle of the pack when it comes to passing touchdowns. Miami has been an above-average defense on the season and is much better against the pass which gives Watson the matchup edge this week. But Murray has as high a floor as any player in the game right now and has been remarkably consistent to start the season. Justin Herbert FD 7900 DK 6800 Opponent LVProj Points FD - 21.1 DK - 22.13 Again, just to reiterate, I don’t want to pivot too hard off of Watson. But if you are looking for a slightly different direction to go at a bit of...
Injury analysis for week 8 of NFL DFS on FanDuel and DraftKings

START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Running Back Dalvin Cook FD 9200 DK 7500 Opponent GB Proj Points FD - 13.55 DK - 14.55 Cook has practiced in a limited fashion this week, but the Vikings' offensive coordinator has said that he "won't need a pitch count" this weekend against the Packers. Cook is still too expensive for my tastes, even in a good match-up with Green Bay, and Mattison is still there threatening to take some of the workload. I'll be staying away from Cook this week. Aaron Jones FD 8500 DK 7300 Opponent MIN Proj Points FD - 2.09 DK - 2.48 Aaron Jones has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Vikings, and after a week of seeing how the Packers plan to approach the running game without Jones Williams seems like an automatic cash game inclusion, even at the advanced price. He paid these prices handily last week, compiling 114 total yards and a touchdown on 24 opportunities against the Texans. Perhaps more importantly, he played 55 of the 60 offensive snaps, leaving AJ Dillon as an afterthought. Don't be scared by the increase in price whatsoever. Chris Carson FD 7600 DK 6200 Opponent SF Proj Points FD - 1.85 DK - 2.26 Carlos Hyde FD 5000 DK 5300 Opponent SF Proj Points FD - 13.37 DK - 15 Right now Carson is considered questionable, and Carlos Hyde is considered doubtful for Sunday's contest with the Niners. I don't think you want to run Carson even if he's healthy, but both of these guys missing Sunday's game would carve out a huge swath of opportunity for either Travis Homer or DeeJay Dallas. Right now I'd guess it will be more of a time share, though, and with some other value opening up I don't think this is where you ultimately want to land in cash games. Joe Mixon FD 7400 DK 6300 Opponent TEN Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Mixon has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Titans, and like the Green Bay game, we know how the Bengals plan to approach this situation based on last week. Bernard was effective against the Browns, touching the ball 18 times for 96 yards and a score. He certainly warrants...
