GOALIE Andrei Vasilevskiy FD - $9800 DK - $8100 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 21.11 DK - 5.28 There are some nice options at goalie tonight on this big slate but Andrei Vasilevskiy stands out above the rest. He was terrific before the All-Star Break(20-4-2, .925 save %) and has been even better since winning 11 of his last 14 starts with an elite .944 save % while facing 32 shots per game. Tonight, he and the Bolts are big -240 home favorites against a Wild team that is coming home at home losses to the Preds and rank 25th in offense scoring just 2.8 goals per game. If you are playing on FanDuel, Greiss at a $1,600 discount makes the cash game decision a little harder but n DraftKings as the 5th most expensive goalie, Vasilevskiy is a great play in all formats. Thomas Greiss FD - $8200 DK - $8200 Opponent - OTT Proj Pts FD - 20.73 DK - 5.18 Like I mentioned above, Greiss's price makes him a very close 1B option to Vasilevskiy in cash games on FanDuel at a big discount. He replaced Robin Lehner on Tuesday due to injury and will get the start on the back end of a home at home vs. the Senators. The Isles pulled out the 5-4 win the other night and it was only the second time the Sens have scored more than two goals since Matt Duchene was traded(eight games). In fact, since they first sat him out in preparation for said trade, the team has averaged just 1.6 goals per game. GOALIE Robin Lehner FD - $8400 DK - $8400 Opponent - OTT Proj Pts FD - 24.02 DK - 6.01 Thomas Greiss FD - $8600 DK - $8200 Opponent - OTT Proj Pts FD - 22.81 DK - 5.7 The goalie position has some very interesting options tonight and we will start with the Islanders who are sitting as the largest favorites(-350) on the slate. They get one of, if not the best matchup on the slate at home facing a depleted Senators team that traded away their top three scorers and have dropped seven of their last eight games scoring two or fewer goals in six of those. Lehner is currently listed as the projected starter but was pulled last game giving up three goals on 13 shots against the Flyers but overall has been consistent all season with a 20-11-5 record and is second behind Vasilevskiy with a .929 save%. Greiss has been equally as good with a .928% save % so whoever gets the starts is in play tonight and their best value comes on FanDuel where they are $1,600 cheaper than Vasilevskiy. Ben Bishop FD - $8900 DK - $7900 Opponent - NYR Proj Pts FD - 0 DK - 4.76 While Bishop has just one win in three games since returning from injury, he has been much better than that stopping 101 of 106 shots he has faced but just hasn't gotten the offensive help. On the season, Bishop sits Top 5 in Save %(.928) and has been a huge reason the Stars rank Top 5 on defense on the season allowing just 2.6 goals per game. Tonight, he and the Stars have a plus matchup as -210 home favorites against a rebuilding Rangers team that has dropped four straight and five of their last six games and rank outside the Top 20 on offense. GOALIE Marc-Andre Fleury FD - $7900 DK - $8300 Opponent - FLA Proj Pts FD - 21.05 DK - 5.26 The goalie position is somewhat ugly for cash games tonight with the lack of an elite option so we will start with Marc-Andre Fleury who stands out the most. He has gone through some struggles recently allowing four or more goals in four of his last six starts but bounced back in his last start holding the Stars to just one goal on Tuesday night. While the upside is somewhat limited with Fleury who only sees an average 27.7 shots per 60, he and Golden Knights are -205 home favorites facing a Panthers team who has scored just 14 goals in their last seven games. More good news as Fleury has also been much better on home ice with a .914 save % and five shutouts. If paying up in cash games, Fleury is the clear choice tonight. Darcy Kuemper FD - $7800 DK - $7700 Opponent - VAN Proj Pts FD - 15.95 DK - 3.99 After Fleury is where things get really interesting as Bobrovsky is a big favorite against Philly and while I will have some shares, it is hard to ignore the value in the sub $8K range tonight. If I told pre-season or even a month ago the Coyotes would be just two points out of a playoff spot at the end of February you would have likely called me crazy. Well here we are and a huge part of their success has been goaltending lead by Kuemper who has won five straight and seven of his last eight starts while posting an impressive .937 save % while facing 31.8 shots per game. He and the Coyotes are in a great spot tonight as -140 home favorites against a Canucks team that is playing on a back to back on the road and a third game in four nights overall. It starts with being a -300 favorite facing a Senators team that just finished trading away their three top scoring forwards in Mark Stone, Ryan Dzingel, and Matt Duchene. After five straight starts on the road, Holtby will get a home start where he and the Caps have been slightly better on the season. This is a smash spot for the Caps so I am willing to take the risk with an underperforming goalie who is a proven #1 option and will be using him in all formats tonight. Curtis McElhinney FD - $8200 DK - $7900 Opponent - LA Proj Pts FD - 21.53 DK - 5.38 The goalie you are likely to see in 100% of lineups on our optimizer is McElhinney as he is actually projected for more raw points and comes at a $400 discount on both sites. He has also been playing at an elite level lately coming off a shutout of the stars and has won five of his last six and eight of his last 10 starts while posting a .922 save %. Tonight, he and the Canes are big -240 home favorites against a Kings team that has dropped eight straight and will be playing on a back to back and third game in four nights, all on the road. Fire up McElhinney in all formats. CENTERS Dylan Larkin FD - $7500 DK - $6900 Opponent - MON Proj Pts FD - 17.39 DK - 5 For an offense that ranks outside the Top 25 on the season, I sure love turning to Larkin in fantasy and will again tonight. GOALIE Andrei Vasilevskiy FD - $9500 DK - $8300 Opponent - BUF Proj Pts FD - 21.28 DK - 5.32 After the last few nights where we have had to deal with sub-par options in goal or good goalies in bad matchups, it feels like kind of a relief to write up Vasilevskiy. The Lightning are the most complete team in the league as they are dominant across the board ranking 1st in offense, 5th in defense, 1st in powerplay, and 2nd in penalty kill. On top of that, they have an elite goalie in Vasilevskiy who comes in after allowing just one goal in his last three games and has won five straight and seven of his last 10 games while posting a .944 save % with three shutouts while facing 31.9 shots per game. Tonight he gets a terrific matchup as a -265 home favorite against a struggling Sabers team that has lost three straight and four of their last five games while scoring just nine goals. Fire up Vasilevskiy in all formats. Pekka Rinne FD - $8400 DK - $8400 Opponent - LA Proj Pts FD - 20.61 DK - 5.15 We are blessed with two elite goalies tonight as the defending Vezina Trophy winner is in a great spot and comes at a big discount on FanDuel if you need the savings. He has been inconsistent at times this year and sits with just an average.916 save % overall but has looked sharp lately winning back to back games while stopping 70 of 74 shots. He and the Preds have been much better on home ice and that is where he will be tonight as a -220 favorite facing a Kings team that has dropped five straight and rank 29th in road offense scoring just 2.2 goals per game. WGC Mexico Championship This week the PGA Tour travels South of the border for the 2019 WGC Mexico Championship from the Club De Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City. This is no-cut event with a limited field of just 71 golfers(Adrian Otaegui was added to make the field 72) but is a loaded field as always and has nine of the Top 10 and 46 of the Top 50 golfers in the World. This will be the third year for the Mexico Championship since taking over the WGC spot so we have limited course history leading to a lower weight in my overall model this week. It will be much important to focus on players who have been playing well lately and fit the stats model. The course is another Par 71 that stretches out 7,300 yards so I will be once again looking for not just bombers but those who are overall good off the tee. Why? The fairways are tree-lined and smaller than average and reading the quote(via Future of Fantasy Golfanac) from Phil Mickelson below it will be important to hit the right spots(even in the rough) to have access to the larger than average greens. As always, Strokes Gained: Approach will be high in the model when looking at Ball Striking and this week I will be focusing on Proximity with the larger than average greens. I will also be looking at a mix of Par 4 and Par 5 Scoring as both have proved to be important through the first two years of this event(Par 5 scoring in 2017 and par 4 scoring in 2018).
