With Darius Garland out of the mix, Mitchell is shouldering almost all of the lead guard duties, running the point and putting up a ton of shots. He’s taken 21 or more shots in each of his last six games, averaging 30 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in that stretch. It’s on par with the best in the game, made even better when you remember that he faces the Washington Wizards tonight. The Wiz are the worst defense in the league and they run the fastest pace. There’s a reason you’ll see a bunch of Cavs in this article today. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander FD - $11500 DK - $10500Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 61 DK - 61.5 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is playing like a guy who wants to, and should, be in the MVP discussion. He just dropped a 36/7/6 line against the Celtics on Tuesday and is averaging 31.4 points, 6.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. He’s been amazing, one of the best fantasy producers around. Now he’ll face off against the Hawks who run the fifth-fastest pace and play the third-worst defense. It’s not quite as great as facing the Wizards, but it’s close. Kyrie Irving FD - $8300 DK - $8300Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 44.38 DK - 46.94 The Mavericks were crushed by the Jazz in Kyrie Irving’s first game back from injury, an unwelcome sign for Dallas fans for sure. But I think we can consider rostering him here, especially on FanDuel with the expectation that the minutes will increase for this game. Plus, he gets a good matchup against the Blazers. Irving scored 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and added four assists in his first game back, a great sign from a fantasy per-minute scoring basis. That’s one of the highest lines you will ever seeing, somewhat complicating matters for cash games. On the surface, De'Aaron Fox makes for a top-flight cash game play, putting up some of the best stats in the NBA this season. He’s averaging 30 points per game on 48/40 splits while adding in 6.1 assists and 4.6 rebounds. The matchup against the shorthanded Hornets is, of course, a great one. But we will be fading a blowout all the way through. Meanwhile, Chris Duarte joined the starting lineup last game in place of Kevin Huerter, playing 26 minutes in this role. He only scored seven points and added six rebounds, but the price is so cheap on both sites that you have to consider him at least. With salaries such as they are, the punt plays become even more important. CJ McCollum FD - $8000 DK - $7100Opponent - BKNProj Pts FD - 39.86 DK - 42.34 CJ McCollum is still a good DraftKings deal, coming in around the $7K range which can be a difficult tier with the newer pricing model. He gets to face a Nets team that’s been one of the worst defenses in the league over the last month or so and has trouble stopping just about anyone. Even with the Pels at relatively full strength, CJ is still getting up shots in this offense, tallying 14 or more FG attempts in each fo the last three games. Again, I like this play considerably more on DraftKings than FanDuel. Ish Smith FD - $3700 DK - $4300Opponent - SACProj Pts FD - 21.44 DK - 23.18 Ish Smith should start again in the place of Terry Rozier, who is doubtful for this one. Over the last month, he’s averaged 37.5 points, 11.1 assists, and 8.9 rebounds in just a hair under 40 minutes per game. Almost one else has this kind of floor on a nightly basis, and, at this point, it makes sense to just find the cheap plays and roster Luka in about any situation. Of course, that’s a bit of an overstatement, but in this matchup against the Jazz, it rings true. Even with Kyrie Irving projected to return tonight, running Luka against a bottom-third defense playing a top-third pace makes a lot of sense. Tyrese Haliburton FD - $11000 DK - $10300Opponent - MILProj Pts FD - 54.69 DK - 59.49 Speaking of being on another level, Tyrese Haliburton has put up some eye-popping lines over the last couple of games. In fact, he’s had two 20-20 games in a row with 22 points and 23 assists against the Knicks and 21 points and 20 assists against the Bulls. Those are video game stats for sure, and things could continue here. We know the Bucks don’t have great guard defense, and Hailburton carved these guys up for a 27/15/7 line during the In-Season Tournament. There’s a world where you can roster both Luka and Hali in cash, though it’s a bit easier on DraftKings than on FanDuel. Andrew Nembhard FD - $5300 DK - $5300Opponent - MILProj Pts FD - 27.73 DK - 30.09 Nembhard was a chalkier play last time out when the Pacers faced off against the Knicks, and he definitely paid that one off. The combo guard played 36 minutes, took 10 shots, finishing with a 14/5/5/2 line when it was all said and done. They’ll need his defense here against Damian Lillard, so I expect him to get a lot of burn once again. The middle-tier pricing helps round out lineups. I think the minutes floor is reasonably high...

That is 10-15 points higher than basically every other game going. It’s going to be a spot to target and what better way to start than with the two point guards? De'Aaron Fox and Trae Young are both pretty expensive at this point, so we will need to find savings elsewhere, but that should be a massive issue with the way the slate is shaping up. Fox has improved on last season, which is saying something, and he is averaging 30 points on 49/40/74 shooting splits. The Hawks have the fourth-worst defensive efficiency in the league and run the fourth-fastest pace as well. It’s just such a smash spot for all of the Kings with Fox leading the way. Meanwhile, Trae Young gets almost as good a matchup with the Kings running the eighth-fastest pace and playing the 22nd-ranked defensive efficiency. Trae has played 40 or more minutes in the last three games and Atlanta is desperately trying to keep their season relevant. He’s taken 20+ shots in five of his last eight and is averaging 30 points and 12 assists over the last month. This could be another great game. Tyrese Maxey FD - $8400 DK - $9000Opponent - HOUProj Pts FD - 45.25 DK - 48.88 At $8400 on FanDuel, Tyrese Maxey still hasn’t been fully price-corrected for Joel Embiid out of the mix. The matchup against the Rockets isn’t a good one, considering they are slow and pretty efficient on defense, but Maxey is a favorite to get up 20 shots in this game. And even if the efficiency dips with Embiid off the court, the minutes and usage in a close game should be more than enough to justify rostering him in cash on FD. It’s, of course, just about the dream spot when stacking in DFS, and the Rockets are the beneficiaries here. Fred VanVleet is coming off some struggles against the Pelicans, but this guy has one of the highest minutes floors in the league, running right around 40 when games stay close. The assists have been a bit lumpy, but the pace and volume of this game should dictate plenty of fantasy scoring for Houston who aren’t breaking the bank in pricing. Coby White FD - $7800 DK - $7800Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 39.49 DK - 43.65 Alex Caruso FD - $5300 DK - $5400Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 31.16 DK - 32.17 The Bulls also get a great matchup here against the Hawks, who rank 27th on defense and play the fifth-fastest pace. They have a very weak defensive backcourt and teams have been able to take advantage all season here. Ever since Zach Lavine went down, Chicago has *gasp* improved and Coby White has been a big reason why, taking a much more prominent role in the offense and ticking the usage up considerably. Over the last month, he’s averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists while getting up 17 shots per game and knocking down threes at a 45% clip. It’s one of the cooler stories around, and he’s in a great spot here. Small Forward DeMar DeRozan FD - $8600 DK - $8200Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 47.97 DK - 49.19 Along with Coby White, the other big story for the Bulls here has been DeMar DeRozan who has taken on an expanded role all the way around in Chicago with Zach Lavine on the shelf. That’s a dream spot for a guy like Steph who is seemingly doing everything for the team right now. He had a horrible outing against the Blazers, but came back firing in the OT win over the Celtics. His FanDuel price is simply too cheap for this matchup even with some moderate blowout risk. Jaden Hardy FD - $4900 DK - $4300Opponent - HOUProj Pts FD - 34.81 DK - 39.11 Tim Hardaway Jr. FD - $6300 DK - $6100Opponent - HOUProj Pts FD - 32.93 DK - 37.43 The Mavericks are sitting Luka Doncic for Friday and are already without Kyrie Irving, Josh Green, and now Dante Exum. Plus, Seth Curry is questionable. That’s basically the entire backcourt leaving all of the minutes to Jaden Hardy, Tim Hardaway Jr, and probably A.J. Lawson (FD 3600 DK 3000). The first two will almost for sure be huge chalk plays here considering the overwhelming void left in every aspect of the game when Luka misses time. Hardy isn’t priced anywhere close to the projected opportunity and we could be looking at 90%+ ownership in cash for him. Tim Hardaway Jr. would also be in line to start and take a ton of shots as well. Sometimes the Mavericks have liked to keep him coming off the bench even in short-handed situations, though even if that was the case I think we would see a ton of minutes and looks for him regardless. Even with blowout risk, these guys are the plays seeing as how Dallas is very thin on Friday.
