DFS NBA Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – Sunday, 4/2
FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Sunday, 4/2/23 We're down to the final week of the NBA season. There aren't many more chaotic times in the sports world because we have so many things to worry about. With that said, I've been zoned into the NBA since Day 1 because basketball is my passion. We have to admit that this time of the year can be frustrating, though, because the injury reports are ridiculous. We'll bank on some of those absences here, but let's get started with the best point guard in the NBA. Head on over for your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NBA FanDuel and DraftKings optimizer, our MLB Optimizer, and NHL Projections as well. Plus, our new player lab! Point Guard Luka Doncic FD - $12200 DK - $11800 Opponent - ATL Proj Pts FD - 64.45 DK - 67.93 This sounds crazy to say, but Dallas is on the verge of missing the postseason. That means they will lean on their superstar which was on full display when Luka collected 42 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists on Saturday. That might look like an outlier line, but Doncic leads the NBA with 61 DraftKings points per game. Not many players even have that sort of ceiling, and it gets even higher since the Mavs are fighting for their playoff lives. A matchup with Atlanta won't deter him from adding to those absurd averages, with the Hawks ranked 23rd in defensive efficiency and 25th in points allowed. Tre Jones FD - $5800 DK - $5700 Opponent - SAC Proj Pts FD - 30.1 DK - 29.81 The Spurs are trying their best to tank down the bottom of the standings, but they've kept Jones as their starting point guard. It's a bit of a surprise, but it makes him tough to avoid since Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell are both missing this game. Even with those guys in the lineup, Tyus has at least 24 fantasy points in nine straight games. He's also got a 31-point average in that span, which is brilliant for a sub-$6K player. The fact that Vassell and Johnson are out should guarantee Jones more usage, minutes, and shot attempts, which looks even better since he faces a Sacramento team that sits 28th in total defense. In the last game he finished against the Kings, Tre tallied 16 points, seven rebounds,...

Guards Gabe Vincent FD - $4600 DK - $3900 Opponent - DAL Proj Pts FD - 16.49 DK - 17.85 Tyler Herro FD - $7100 DK - $6400 Opponent - DAL Proj Pts FD - 34.08 DK - 38.47 The silly NBA schedule down the stretch has left us with just two games on Saturday making lineup construction a bit challenging early in the day. Luka and Kyrie are going to be tough to fit in at their prices so I will start with the Miami guards who actually get the better matchup in this game as the Mavs are 22nd in defensive efficiency. Herro is my main target here as he plays heavy minutes, gets the majority of the usage and has been consistent lately averaging 34 fantasy points over his last 11 games. For a little more salary relief, we can also consider Gabe Vincent who is coming off one of his best games of the season with 34 fantasy points. He was definitely running hot shooting 8 of 11 but on this slat I don't think we can ignore the value for a player who is likely going to see double-digit attempts again. Small Forward Brandon Ingram FD - $9700 DK - $9500 Opponent - LAC Proj Pts FD - 43.51 DK - 47.29 Trey Murphy III FD - $6400 DK - $6000 Opponent - LAC Proj Pts FD - 28.72 DK - 30.52 We can't be overly picky with our matchups tonight with just two games and while the Clippers are a top-half team in terms of overall defense, they have not been nearly as good on the road. Enter Brandon Ingram who has been on a tear over the last two weeks(9 games) averaging 28.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 8 assists for just over 50 fantasy points a game. That balance and fantasy value across multiple categories gives him a high floor and us some much-needed safety on this slate. Consistency is something his teammate, Trey Murphy, has shown recently as well shooting 50% from the field in March while averaging over 31 fantasy points a game. He is very shooting dependant which makes it risky but on this slate, we are going to have to take some chances. Power Forward/Center Kawhi Leonard FD - $10000 DK - $10000 Opponent - NO Proj Pts FD -...

Point Guard/ Shooting Guard Josh Giddey FD - $8000 DK - $8700Opponent - INDProj Pts FD - 44.37 DK - 48.41 We are nearing the end of the season and this is where things can start getting real weird, real quick from a DFS standpoint. Teams’ motivations are all over the place and some for the spreads definitely represent this uncertainty. Even without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder seem to be putting their best foot forward and still are in the Western Conference play-in game as of this writing. Josh Giddey is locked into around 35 minutes a game in this set up and is averaging 23 points, 10.5 assists, and seven rebounds in that stretch. His price, especially on FanDuel, hasn’t moved nearly enough to reflect this opportunity. He’s an easy play there. Consider Isaiah Joe (FD 5500 DK 5300) who should stick in the starting lineup. Shaedon Sharpe FD - $7700 DK - $7900Opponent - SACProj Pts FD - 38.96 DK - 42.06 The Trailblazers have shut down Damian Lillard, Jerami Grant, and Anfernee Simons for the season. And last game they ran a core of young guys a million minutes even in a massive blowout. That could be the case agains here against the Kings. Shaedon Sharpe took 27 shots in 45 minutes against these same Kings earlier in the week, finishing with 30 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. He could be in line for massive usage once again especially if Portland was no f’s to give when it comes to results here. The rookie is still very much a value under the current Blazers’ setup. If Kawhi Leonard were out for personal reasons again then Russell Westbrook (FD 8300 DK 8700) would jump to the top of the list here. He went for 36 points, 10 assists, and four rebounds last game with both Kawhi and Paul George out of the Clippers’ mix. Keep an eye on the situation in Charlotte going into this game. Last time out, Dennis Smith Jr. (FD 6500 DK 6800) was a very (very) late scratch and Théo Maledon (FD 5300 DK 5500) ended up starting and playing a ton of minutes....

Guards CJ McCollum FD - $8300 DK - $7500 Opponent - DEN Proj Pts FD - 36.88 DK - 40.12 We have a tricky slate on Thursday with just two games and not really any injury news to come in terms of opening up potential value. This has me targeting a more balanced lineup tonight and it starts with McCollum who is in a great spot against a Nuggets team that gives up the fourth-most fantasy points to guards. He is coming off a dud against the Warriors but I am not concerned as he has been consistent in March. The volume is there as he has taken 15 or more shots in nine of his last 11 games while averaging 20.1 points and has added another 4.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists for just over 39 fantasy points per game. The price is a little better on DraftKings but CJ is in play for me in all formats. Marcus Smart FD - $6000 DK - $5300 Opponent - MIL Proj Pts FD - 27.18 DK - 29.54 In the first game, I think a lot of people will be chasing Jrue's monster game from last night, but with Middleton back in the lineup, I will go in another direction. Enter Marcus Smart who isn't going to win you a GPP as a low-volume guard but has provided a solid floor from a PTS/$ standpoint lately. At his current DraftKings price we are looking for about 25 DK points as a floor and he has hit that in four of his last games while averaging 28.6 during that stretch. On this small slate, I will have exposure to Smart in cash games on both sites. Bruce Brown FD - $5400 DK - $4500 Opponent - NO Proj Pts FD - 23.74 DK - 25.42 Value is going to be tough to come by on this slate so we are going to have to expand our player pools and include some bench players. Let's start with Bruce Brown who has been getting decent playing time lately getting 28 or more minutes in three straight and four of his last five games and has been fairly consistent hitting at least 5x on DraftKings in nine of those 14 games while averaging 23 DK points per game. This kind of output is not going to...

Point Guard/ Shooting Guard Ja Morant FD - $9900 DK - $9000Opponent - LACProj Pts FD - 50.32 DK - 54.36 The Grizzlies don’t have their playoff fate sealed just yet, but they are close and it’s looking like they will be locked into the Western Conference #2 seed. Ja Morant rested on the front end of this back-to-back, but it looks like he will be back for this game. And the dude hasn’t shown any signs of being affected (on the court) from his time away from the team. He dropped 27 points and six rebounds in just 29 minutes last time out and this game should see the run increase as he works his way back into the mix. The price is way too low on DraftKings especially if he’s looking at low-30s minutes and the dude has come back on a mission. Shaedon Sharpe FD - $6900 DK - $6700Opponent - SACProj Pts FD - 34.99 DK - 37.85 The Blazers are a mess for sure and have clearly entered a full tank. Damien Lillard has been shut down for the rest of the season and they are running out the young and end-of-bench guys from here on out. Shaedon Sharpe has played 35+ minutes in each of the last four games, averaging 22.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in that stretch. Even with the rest of the lineup kind of getting jacked around, his playing time and usage do appear very safe here even with a slightly down game last time around. His price on both sites doesn’t reflect, at all, the new opportunity. Talen Horton-Tucker FD - $6300 DK - $6900Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 30.86 DK - 33.16 Kris Dunn FD - $5100 DK - $5500Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 34.43 DK - 35.56 It’s a little tough to know what the Utah Jazz are doing here, and as of right now, Lauri Markkanen is questionable for the game. It doesn’t look like the Jazz, currently ranked 12th in the Western Conference, are going to try and make the play-in game, which would mean a key guy like Lauri would see limited action from...

Point Guard/ Shooting Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander FD - $10800 DK - $10000Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 52.91 DK - 54.03 It’s going to be an interesting slate here with teams definitely making their intentions known around tanking and other groups getting back to full strength. As of this writing, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is questionable so we will need to see where he lands, but if he plays he’s a top option here. For starters, the Hornets stink so he draws one of the best matchups on the slate. The Thunder still have a chance at the playoffs here and they seem like they are going for it with SGA playing solid minutes in the short term. He’s had an unbelievable season, has ascended into superstar territory and still isn’t priced for his production in this matchup. Keep an eye on his injury status here for sure. **Update - SGA is out tonight** s Dennis Smith Jr. FD - $6500 DK - $7000Opponent - OKCProj Pts FD - 33.1 DK - 33.91 Again, a theme of this slate is that we are likely going to be playing some guys on tanking teams. That’s the nature of these late season slates wherein some good and great players have been shut down for the season or are at least being injury managed. One of them is the Hornets who are already without LaMelo Ball and now Terry Rozier and Gordon Hayward are out as well. Dennis Smith Jr. has been starting at point guard and that should remain the case in this game. He went for 14 points, six assists, and five rebounds last game against the Mavs in just 28 minutes. He did have foul trouble and I think the real minutes are more around 30+ and though he’s getting expensive, if Kelly Oubre is out as well then the usage should be there. Delon Wright FD - $5800 DK - $5400Opponent - BOSProj Pts FD - 32.79 DK - 33.28M We are going to need to keep an eye on the Wiz situation leading into this slate. Last game, Monte Morris sat out and Delon Wright got the start at point guard....
