That’s one of the higher numbers you will see and makes him a pretty easy play here. The price has come down a bit in the short-term which makes it even easier and I suspect he will be one of the highest-owned players on the slate. While Chicago might be in blow-it-up mode coming sooner than later, we can still play some of their guys in the short-term when the getting is good. For starters, Zach Lavine sees an obvious bump in production with DDR off the court, leading the team with a 30% usage in these situations so far this season. He’s scoring dependent for sure, but the price on both sites is totally reasonable considering the context. Meanwhile, Coby White sees the usage climb to 26.8% and the assist rate bumps up as well. I think his minutes are ultra-safe right now considering the Bulls are playing without DDR and will likely be without Alex Caruso as well. For White, these are the kind of situations we are waiting for when it comes to cash games. Tyrese Maxey is, of course, coming off the 50-point game on Sunday, but has been balling out in general this season with the backcourt now full in his hands after the James Harden trade. He’s expensive on FanDuel, but the sub-$9K price on DraftKings works well with making lineups. Kyrie Irving FD - $8600 DK - $8700Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 47.06 DK - 50.2 We typically want to play Kyrie Irving when Luka Doncic is out of the mix, but the former has been running so well that this is still a cash game spot for him. He’s taken 19 or more shots in each of the last four games, averaging 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in that stretch. It gets the job done at his price points and New Orleans is a bottom-10 defense on the season. Jordan Clarkson FD - $6900 DK - $6500Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 34.04 DK - 37.56 The Jazz flipped around their starting lineup a bit a couple of games ago, moving Keyonte George and Ochai Agbaji into the group after Walker Kessler got hurt and THT went to the bench. It’s meant some more minutes and more shots for Jordan Clarkson in the short-term and that could continue here. He gets a decent matchup against the Blazers who have played surprisingly well on defense, but still aren’t a force to be reckoned with or anything like that. This game has a 229 over/under, the fifth highest of the slate and there is still some value on Clarkson’s number. It’s a perfect spot to stack one team on a shorter slate of games and Dennis Schroder’s price makes it relatively easy to do so. We’ll get to some of his teammates here shortly, but there’s still value in rostering Schroder here. In closer games, he’s tracking for 32-33 minutes and has had decent usage, getting up 13 or more shots in three of his last five games. The assists can come and go with Scottie Barnes controlling the action at times, but the pace volume makes up for a lot here. This is a pretty easy way to start cash games. Keon Ellis FD - $3500 DK - $3900Opponent - CLEProj Pts FD - 23.64 DK - 23.54 Malik Monk FD - $5900 DK - $6000Opponent - CLEProj Pts FD - 28.17 DK - 31.48 De'Aaron Fox is already doubtful for this game after sitting out the last three and Keon Ellis has seen the role steadily expand in the short-term. He started two games ago, got the start again last time out and saw a career-high in minutes with 31. He’s not going to be a feature part of the offense, but the rookie is coming so cheap that he really doesn’t need to be for our purposes. Ellis has been able to chip in across the stat line enough for a decent floor at these price points. Considering the Kings won the last two, I don’t see them making a lineup change for this game. Meanwhile, I’m not typically wanting to get bench guys in for cash games, but Malik Monk is one of the rare exceptions because his role is relatively locked in. He took 22 shots in that one in 36 minutes, tallying 34 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Dude turned it over six times, but that’s to be somewhat expected considering his time on ball and usage. The price has come way up on DraftKings but he’s still a great play on FanDuel. Desmond Bane FD - $8700 DK - $8500Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 45.76 DK - 48.63 Marcus Smart FD - $6100 DK - $6600Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 34.53 DK - 36.62 The Grizzlies get a good matchup against the Jazz in this one with Utah ranking dead last in defensive efficiency this season. Desmond Bane has struggled from the field at times, but continues to have crazy high usage for Memphis with Ja Morant out of the picture. He’s averaging close to 21 shots per game and 9.4 from beyond the arc. The looks are more difficult, but we can assume he’ll come up some on the 33.3% 3-point shooting considering he’s 42% for his career. I like the prices on both sites as the Grizzlies try to keep their heads above water here. Smart’s scoring numbers are up over his career averages and he’s been racking up a ton of steals so far, with 2.6 per game not the season. His three-point shooting could also probably stand for a bit of positive regression as well. I think the price on both sites is more than fair and the minutes are very safe. The big news with LaMelo Ball last game, in addition to the 30 points, 13 assists, 10 rebound triple-double was that he pushed the minutes to 39. He’s a lock for cash on this slate at these prices. Tyus Jones FD - $5800 DK - $5600Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 30.11 DK - 32.21 Jordan Poole FD - $6700 DK - $7400Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 35.37 DK - 38.34 This is an interesting spot for the Wizards tonight. They aren’t at a massive risk of getting blown out, coming in at just three-point underdogs to the Hornets. That could mean the minutes are actually on the safer side for Tyus Jones and Jordan Poole. It hasn’t been the case lately, but this game is a different beast. What you are relying on with both of these Wizards guards is that the minutes will be there up and over 30 and that they won’t get buzzed off even in a close game. That’s not a guarantee with Washington in full tank mode this season. But the usage is there for both, this game has a massive total and neither of them are all that expensive for what they offer. Strongly consider Tyrese Haliburton (FD 10000 DK 9800) who has been amazing of late. This game also has a big total and his minutes are ultra-safe in a close one. Trae Young is coming at a bargain on FanDuel at sub-$9K making for a value there compared to some of the other elite point guards on the slate. I like taking the relative discount where we can get in a game he should have high usage. Tyrese Haliburton FD - $9800 DK - $9400Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 49.21 DK - 53.03 Tyrese Haliburton went completely crazy on Saturday against Charlotte, playing 37 minutes and going for 43 points and 12 assists on 14-21 shooting and 8-12 from beyond the arc. That just blows through the ceiling and while we can’t expect the same kind of efficiency, the pace of this game should lend itself to plenty of scoring once again. As mentioned, this game has the highest total on the slate and it was good to see Hali’s minutes crest up and over 35. Josh Giddey FD - $7700 DK - $8200Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 41.31 DK - 45.38 Josh Giddey was a moderate disappointment last game without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the court, playing *just* 31 minutes and going for 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists with no defensive stats. That’s a problem considering what we thought might happen with SGA out of the mix. There’s a chance the minutes just might not be all that robust for Giddey who hasn’t played more than 32 in a game so far this season.
