With Durant off the court this season, Devin Booker has a borderline unreal 38% usage rate. The assists and the rebound tick up as well. Basically, he’s the whole team with KD off the court and that’s going to give him a very high floor going into this matchup against the Kings. Expect him to be among the highest-owned players on the slate. Meanwhile, Eric Gordon sees the second most usage with Durant off the court with his number climbing to 27%. He’s not a candidate to fill the stat line across the board just because of how he plays, but the price doesn’t have you worrying about all that much either. Playing these guys together in cash games is likely how things swing in terms of ownership and you should be on board as well. Anfernee Simons FD - $6600 DK - $6800Opponent - DALProj Pts FD - 39.13 DK - 42.42 Anfernee Simons returned to the court after missing the first couple of months of the season, and it was like he hadn’t been gone at all. He stepped right into the starting lineup, played 37 minutes, and jacked up 27 shots. He only hit 10 of them but finished with 28 points and four assists. Malcolm Brogdon went down in that game, giving Simons more opportunity but I don’t think his price has come close to correcting based on how he came in for that first tilt. He’s a pretty easy play here. For White (we’ll get to DDR in a second) it could mean another game close to the 40 minutes he played against the Pelicans on Saturday. In that one, he took 17 shots and finished with 31 points, along with nine rebounds and six assists. The Bulls get one of the best DFS matchups on the slate here against Charlotte, and though White’s price has risen, he’s still very much a play. Cam Thomas FD - $6700 DK - $7100Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 40.91 DK - 43.17 A very encouraging sign in Brooklyn was the number of minutes Cam Thomas ran over the weekend against the Orlando Magic. Though he struggled in the shooting department, going 7-23 from the field, he did run 38 minutes in all and ended up with five assists, a second-best for his career. Now he’ll get another chance at a high-usage game against a Hawks team that lacks a ton in point-of-attack defense. I like the price on both sites and don’t think it’s been fully adjusted to a starting role with a bigger minutes load. Killian Hayes FD - $5400 DK - $5400Opponent - MEMProj Pts FD - 26.82 DK - 27.25 Do the Pistons know what they are doing? It sure doesn’t seem like it. But can we consider some of their guys in fantasy for now? Sure. Killian Hayes stuck in the starting lineup with a backcourt of Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey as well, and I think that is going to be how they run things again. He played 33 minutes, went 6-11 from the field, and finished with 13 points. He will tick in the defensive stats as well, and I think the floor is high enough in what should at least be a close game against the Grizzlies. That should put Jordan Goodwin in the starting lineup as the point guard and give him a higher minutes floor. The Suns, already without Bradley Beal as well, are pretty desperate for guard play at this point, and Goodwin does fit that need to a degree. He’s coming pretty cheap and has been a solid per-minute fantasy contributor off the bench this season. He’s shooting 36% from beyond the arc and averages about 12 points and four assists per 30 minutes. Jalen Suggs FD - $5900 DK - $6200Opponent - WASProj Pts FD - 33.04 DK - 34.29M The Magic walk back into a matchup with the Wizards on Friday, with Washington representing one of the better chances to score points in DFS. That’s because they rank second-to-last in defensive efficiency and third in pace. Fast and bad at D? We’ll take it. Jalen Suggs has a higher minutes floor right now as long as the games stay close with the Magic needing guard play since Markelle Fultz is on the shelf. The scoring can come and go for Suggs, but the price isn’t close to prohibitive, and he makes for a higher floor play here. Derrick Rose (FD 4800 DK 4900) is in the Memphis Grizzlies starting lineup and with the new role is coming way too cheap on both sites. We could have some real point guard choices in this price range tonight though that’s a bit easier on DraftKings with the different position eligibility. If Victor Wembanyama sits then I think we seriously consider playing Devin Vassell (FD 6500 DK 6500), Jeremy Sochan (FD 5600 DK 6100), and maybe even Tre Jones (FD 5700 DK 5200). For starters, playing the Atlanta backcourt of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray could be a stacking option because of how great a matchup they get here. San Antonio is the fifth-worst defensive efficiency team in the league this season while running the third-fastest pace. That’s a nice meeting point when we are stacking against them in DFS. As far as the Hawks guards are concerned, the two control so much of the offense that the floor for each on any given night is very high even if it can be tough sometimes choosing between the two. Trae is averaging 25.6 points and 10.4 assists on the season with the three-point shooting actually ticking up a bit from last season. Meanwhile, Dejounte has seen the scoring and assist numbers dip just a bit season-over-season with the minutes coming down just a tad as well. But he’s shooting a career-best 37.7% from beyond the arc and is still a candidate for a big minutes load as long as the game stays close. I like playing both of these guys on this slate and pairing them in cash could be the move. Consider Bogdan Bogdanovic (FD 6100 DK 6000) along with these guys as well. He’s coming off the bench, but without Jalen Johnson in the lineup, Bog has been running about 30 minutes per game. Jalen Brunson FD - $8000 DK - $8400Opponent - DETProj Pts FD - 42.11 DK - 45.4 The Knicks get a great matchup against the Pistons on Thursday with Detroit not just circling the drain, but at this point, all the way down in the bottom of it. That’s because they are facing off against the Washington Wizards who are about as good a DFS matchup as you can get these days. The Wizards rank second-to-last in defensive efficiency and second in pace. That’s a near-perfect meeting point when it comes to opponents scoring fantasy points and gives Orlando guys a high-floor expectation nearly across the board. Jalen Suggs doesn’t have huge minutes upside, but the price is completely reasonable and he should be in line for about 30 at least as long as the game stays close. He’s scored double-digit points in 10 straight games with contributions in nearly every part of the stat line. Meanwhile, Cole Anthony is coming off the bench but has been able to keep a consistent minutes level with the team not wanting to run rookie Anthony Black out there for major run. Anthony is coming off a 30-point, seven-rebound, seven assist game against the Hornets and has scored 15+ in five straight games. His price is a little risky considering he’s not in the starting unit, but the matchup helps ease that some. Other Notes: There are injury pieces we will need to know before ultimately setting lineups. It looks like Jamal Murray will return to the lineup tonight. But if not, then Reggie Jackson (FD 6000 DK 6300) would be another strong play once again. Additionally, if Kevin Durant were to sit again then we can instantly vault Devin Booker (FD 10400 DK 10300) into the top plays tier. One of them is the Kings and Warriors which has the highest over/ under of the evening at 237.5. De'Aaron Fox has been ridiculous this season and is coming off of a 36-point, 12-assist game against the Timberwolves over the weekend. He’s averaging 29.9 points a game overall with a marked uptick in usage. He’s facing the Warriors who have a league-average defensive efficiency and this game could be back-and-forth. From a floor standpoint, Fox has one of the highest on the slate. Jalen Brunson FD - $8200 DK - $8200Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 41.94 DK - 45.71 The Knicks are controlling their own fate in the In-Season Tournament which puts them in an excellent spot for Tuesday’s action. They also happen to get one of the better matchups out there against the Hornets. Charlotte will be without LaMelo Ball which could slow down the pace some. But the Knicks are -11.5 home favorites against the 27th-ranked defense. Brunson has one of the higher minutes floors around and has been excellent on the shooting front this season, bombing 47% from beyond the arc. The price on both sites has him firmly in the cash game range and I expect to see him with a lot of ownership on this slate. Anthony Edwards FD - $9300 DK - $8900Opponent - OKCProj Pts FD - 47.8 DK - 51.45 There are a lot of good point guard and shooting guard options on this slate which could make for some tougher decisions when it’s all said and done.
