Pitchers Gerrit Cole FD - P 11500 DK - SP 11200 Opponent - MIN (Randy Dobnak) Park - MIN FD - 42.63 DK - 24.07 Cole has gotten wrecked for earned runs in two of his last four starts but I am not at all concerned, especially considering the lack of pitching on this slate. Outside of those two duds, Cole has been elite this season holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in 10 of 12 starts, good for a 2.26 ERA/2.34 xFIP, and has not only has he been consistent but also provides a ton of upside with a 36.5% K rate. The matchup is nothing to write home about as the Twins are slightly above average in the split vs. righties(105 wRC+) and overall on the season(106 wRC+) but Cole is still easily the top pitcher on this slate. Austin Gomber FD - P 9500 DK - 6000 Opponent - MIA (Undecided) Park - MIA FD - 32.99 DK - 16.3 Stacking Cole with multiple big bats shouldn't be an issue on this slate given the two rookie pitchers who have been terrific lately and both in the $6k range on DraftKings. I will take the cheaper of the two and roll with Austin Gomber who is massively underpriced relative to his FanDuel price. He has definitely had some bumps along the way(gave up 5+ ER twice in three starts) but has been rolling lately holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in five straight starts and three of those came at home in Coors Field. Tonight he gets a huge park factor upgrade getting a start in Miami vs. the Marlins who have a 88 wRC+ and 28% K rate against southpaws. Also Consider: Lance Lynn(CHW) who has been terrific all season(2.26 ERA/234 xFIP) but gets a tougher matchup vs. the Jays so is a GPP only play for me tonight Catcher/First Base Yuli Gurriel FD 3200 DK 4400 Opponent - BOS (Nathan Eovaldi) Park - BOS FD - 9.95 DK - 7.63 This game has the highest total(9.5) on the board tonight and a great spot to turn to in all formats. If you are not punting SP2 on DraftKings a balanced approach at the first base is in the cards and it starts with Yuli Gurriel. In the short term, he has been scorching hot with hits in five straight including four multi-hit...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Tyler Glasnow FD - P 11000 DK - SP 10000 Opponent - WSH (Jon Lester) Park - TB FD - 45.83 DK - 25.72 After a quiet Monday, we are back with a full 15-game slate tonight and three ace pitchers sitting right at the top of the salary. The system has Glasnow sitting atop the PTS/$ rankings and I have to agree here as he comes at a discount from Bieber in a very similar matchup and has been more consistent(2.85 xFIP) with more upside(35% K rate) than Buehler. He also catches the Nats at the right time as they have lost eight of their last 11 while averaging just three runs per game and striking out 25% of the time. All things considered, Glasnow is my top pitcher in all formats tonight. Chris Bassitt FD - P 9700 DK - SP 8800 Opponent - ARI (Jon Duplantier) Park - OAK FD - 38.93 DK - 21.11 The chalk builds on DraftKings are very likely going to contain some combination of two top pitchers tonight and I wouldn't at all be surprised if Bassitt was the highest owned at a price under $9K. He is coming off his shortest outing(4 IP, 4 ER) of the season but overall has been very consistent holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in eight of 12 games and enters the night with a 3.53 ERA/3.65 xFIP. What stands out the most is the matchup vs. the struggling D-backs who have lost 19 of their last 21 games while averaging just 3.1 runs per game and striking our 26% of the time. Lock and load in all formats on DraftKings and he makes a projected low-owned GPP pivot on FanDuel. Catcher/First Base Matt Olson FD - 1B 3900 DK - 1B 5200 Opponent - ARI (Jon Duplantier) Park - OAK FD - 12.38 DK - 9.18 The A's lead all teams in implied runs as of writing this and are easily my favorite team to target on this slate. Not only have they been red-hot lately(.362 wOBA/138 wRC+ last 7 days), they get an elite matchup vs. Jon Duplantier who has given up 11 hits and nine earned runs(4 HR) through his first two starts. For Olson, he comes into the night with a six-game hit streak that includes four multi-hit efforts, three doubles, and two home runs. He is having a...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Monday 6/7/21

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW!   Pitchers Adbert Alzolay FD - P 9900 DK - SP 8800 Opponent - SD (Ryan Weathers) Park - SD FD - 30.94 DK - 16.14 This might be the worst set of pitching options I can remember. I wouldn't be excited to play Alzolay on a normal slate, but this is no normal slate. And Alzolay, honestly, has been pretty good. His 3.35 xFIP is his best figure since rookie ball, and while it might not maintain all season, we're going to try and ride the wave today. San Diego is basically a league-average offense, and getting Alzolay out of his tough home park and into one of the best pitcher's parks in the Majors can only be a good thing. Nick Pivetta FD - P 9300 DK - SP 8000 Opponent - MIA (Pablo López) Park - BOS FD - 29.48 DK - 14.68 Pivetta and the BoSox are the biggest favorites on the slate today against this Miami team. The 28 year old righty is showing glimpses of his 2018 form, posting a double-digit K/9 and a sub 4 ERA. It's nothing to write home about at these prices, but again, it's a three game slate with no amazing pitching options. Miami finds themselves in a familiar position as one of the league's best DFS match-ups for opposing pitchers, pairing the league's 4th highest K% with the 10th worst wOBA. Position players You have one game with an 8.5 point total, and two others with a 7.5 point total. This might be the smallest number of runs per game on a main slate ever, and it puts us in a very sticky position when it comes to forecasting player performance today. I'll try to provide you with a few options, but on a small slate your mistakes will be amplified, so where there is a clear-cut option I'm only going to give you one. Catcher/First Base Jesús Aguilar FD - 1B 2800 DK - 1B 4300 Opponent - BOS (Nick Pivetta) Park - BOS FD - 9.2 DK - 6.92 Yep, it's looking pretty thin out here today. Still, Aguilar isn't a terrible option. He's been a hair worse than platoon neutral over the course of his career, so we're not too worried about him not having the platoon in his favor. He strikes out too often, but he also is a serious long-ball threat, with 11 homers...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Sunday 6/6/21

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Sunday 6/6/21 Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB, NBA, PGA, NHL, and NFL optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Corbin Burnes FD - P 11000 DK - RP 11000 Opponent - ARI (Caleb Smith) Park - MILFD - 43.43 DK - 23.85 Burnes has some of the best peripherals you’ll ever see for a starting pitcher and has been absolutely dominant when on the mound this season. In his 52 innings, he’s struck out a whopping 41% of the batters he’s face and walked only 3.5%. This is just ridiculous and has him at a 11.6:1 K:BB ratio. He’s rocking a minuscule 1.83 xFIP which is about as low as you’ll ever see. On Sunday, he opens as a -233 home favorite against the Arizona Diamondbacks who rank as a below-average offense on the season. Burnes is a very tough fade here considering the peripherals and win expectation, making him the best play on the slate. Dylan Cease FD - P 7600 DK - SP 9400 Opponent - DET (Jose Urena) Park - CHWFD - 37.49 DK - 19.79 Cease isn’t as good as Burnes but has put together a solid season so far especially in the strikeout department. He has an 11.2 K/9 rate which is a dramatic improvement over his first few seasons in the majors. He’s throwing his fastball a bit more this year than last and the results have been good. His one issue is the walk rate making the ability to go longer in games a problem. But he’s a -210 home favorite against the Tigers who rank 26th as a team in offense this year. Catcher/First Base Rhys Hoskins FD - 1B 3500 DK - 1B 4800 Opponent - WSH (Undecided) Park - PHIFD - 14.18 DK - 10.42 The Nationals haven’t decided who is going to pitch for them on Sunday and that’s usually a good sign for opposing hitters. Hoskins isn’t as patient this season with an 8% walk rate that’s about half of what he’s done in the past. But the power is there with 12 home runs through his first 232 plate appearances and a solid .850 OPS. He should be no lower than the cleanup spot for the Phillies depending on who they end up facing here. Carlos Santana FD - 1B 3000 DK - 1B 4100 Opponent - MIN (Undecided) Park - KCFD - 12.15 DK - 9.04 Like Hoskins and the Phillies, The Royals face an undecided pitcher on the Twins for Sunday. Santana is one...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Saturday, 6/5/21

START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW!   Pitchers Kevin Gausman FD - P 11200 DK - SP 8900 Opponent - CHC (Kohl Stewart) Park - SF FD - 35.45 DK - 18.81 A highly touted prospect, Gausman is the definition of a late bloomer. Critics will point to the small sample size over the last couple of years, but digging a little deeper shows that these improvements are legit. Gausman dramatically changed his pitching repertoire last season to great effect, and this year's 3.05 xFIP is nearly identical to last year's 3.06 number. He's maintained his double digit K/9 while improving on his already solid control, and certainly qualifies as an ace in today's game. The Cubs are far from an easy match-up, but they do own a top 10 K rate this season. At -165, Gausman is the most heavily favored pitcher on the main slate, and is a great cash game option. Jacob deGrom FD - P 11500 DK - SP 11100 Opponent - SD (Joe Musgrove) Park - SD FD - 46.84 DK - 26.77 It would be tough to heap enough superlatives on Jacob deGrom given the pitcher he's become, and he's going to be an obvious cash game option any time he takes the hill. The Padres are projected for fewer than 3 implied runs here, which is pretty astounding for a lineup that solid. The only thing holding us back from running deGrom in cash games is the combination of the price and the match-up. As just a -130 favorite against Musgrove and the Padres, you could get screwed playing deGrom even if he's as good as ever. Also considered: Clayton Kershaw. I wrote these guys up by accident before seeing there were two slates, so please enjoy these bonus pitcher picks for the early slate: Lucas Giolito FD - P 11600 DK - SP 9500 Opponent - DET (Tarik Skubal) Park - CHW FD - 41.18 DK - 22.37 After three straight years, I think we can pretty safely say that this is who Giolito is at this point: a mid-3s xFIP guy with 11+ Ks/9, and a nightmare for opposing batters. He's a -200 favorite against the hapless Tigers, who enter this game with the league's worst wOBA and highest K rate. It's very rare to get a pitcher this good in the best possible match-up, and you can believe cash game players will be all over him here....

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 6/4/21

Pitchers Zack Wheeler FD - P 11500 DK - SP 10700 Opponent - WSH (Max Scherzer) Park - PHI FD - 38.96 DK - 20.44 We have a very interesting choice to make at pitcher in this NL East matchup that has a slate-low 6.5 total. With a lack of value options I trust for cash games, I will be fading Scherzer's price and leading off with Zach Wheeler. He provides a ton of consistency averaging almost seven innings per start and enters the night with an elite 2.75 ERA(14th best among starters) and 2.48 xFIP(5th best). He also gives us a ton of upside potential and has tallied 10+ K's in three straight(35 total) starts. It also helps that the Nats have struggled to score recently averaging just 2.6 runs per game over their last 10. All things considered, Wheeler is in play in all formats. Freddy Peralta FD - P 8700 DK - SP 10400 Opponent - ARI (Matt Peacock) Park - MIL FD - 37.01 DK - 20.7 While you can pair Wheeler and Peralta together on DraftKings, this pick is more about FanDuel tonight where he is $2500+ cheaper than both Max and Wheeler. He also has very similar numbers across the board with a 2.38 ERA/3.34 xFIP and is second behind Jacob deGrom with an elite 37% K rate backed up by a 15% swinging-strike rate. I also like the matchup tonight against the Diamondbacks who have a wRC+(87) 23% lower against right-handed pitching. Also Consider: Shohei Ohtani(LAA) who lacks control at times pushing his pitch count up early but has elite upside at these prices vs a SEA team that K's 26% of the time Catcher/First Base Matt Olson FD - 1B 4100 DK - 1B 5300 Opponent - COL (Jon Gray) Park - COL FD - 13.52 DK - 10.02 The A's are likely going to load up on left-handed bats tonight vs. Jon Gray in Coors Field and that leads us right to Matt Olson who is having a career-start to the season. While he is mainly used in DFS for his power numbers as he leads the team in HR(14) and RBI(37), he enters the night with a .274 average which is over 30 points higher than his career mark. A lot of this has to do with plate awareness and patience as he is striking out just 16.7% of the time...
