Pitchers Chris Bassitt FD - P 9800 DK - SP 9800 Opponent - TEX (Mike Foltynewicz) Park - OAK FD - 44.32 DK - 24.15 My top pitcher on this slate is driven mainly by matchup as we all know Burnes is the better overall pitcher and it's not really close(sorry A's fans). While he faces a tough Giants team, Bassitt becomes my top option as he gets an elite matchup against the Rangers who have scored a league-low 44 runs since the ASB. In Bassitt's defense to my opening statement, he is having a career year with 3.28 ERA/3.92 xFIP and has already set career-highs in wins(11) and K rate(25%). All things considered, I will be overweight on Bassitt in all formats, especially on FanDuel where he is $1,100 cheaper than Burnes. German Márquez FD - P 9900 DK - SP 8400 Opponent - MIA (Sandy Alcantara) Park - COL FD - 31.57 DK - 16.52 We have a full slate but the SP2 decision on DraftKings is not an easy one. It may seem crazy to consider a pitcher in Coors "safe" for cash games but hear me out. First of all, Vegas seems to expect a decent performance as the initial total(9.5) is the lowest I have seen in Coors since early in the season and the home team opens as a -160 favorite. For Marquez, he has actually been better at home with a 3.29 ERA(3.83 on the road) and .266 wOBA against(.300 on the road). At his price on Draftkings, we are looking for about 16 points for min value and he has hit that in seven of his last eight starts, topping 20 points four times. Lock and load. Catcher/First Base Joey Votto FD 4200 DK 6000 Opponent - PIT (JT Brubaker) Park - PIT FD - 12.05 DK - 9.04 The price went up after another terrific outing but if you are paying up for one player, Joey Votto has placed himself in that conversation. From a first base perspective, he is still cheaper than Vladdy, has been much better in the short term, and has a better matchup against JT Brubaker. The Reds are in a great spot to pile up the runs again tonight and Votto is my top play at first base. Jonathan Schoop FD 3700 DK 4200 Opponent - CLE (Cal Quantrill) Park - CLE FD - 10.33 DK -...

Pitchers Sonny Gray FD - P 9300 DK - SP 9300 Opponent - PIT (Wil Crowe) Park - CIN FD - 34.63 DK - 18.69 After two ugly starts out of the break, Gray rebounded in a big way in his last start limiting the Mets to one earned run while striking out seven and walking just one. That is much more on par with what we have seen from him all season and he comes in with an xFIP(3.32) that is nearly a full run lower than his ERA(4.26) telling me there are more good starts on the horizon. Great spot tonight as he and the Reds are big -225 favorites facing a Pirates team that is a bottom 5-10 offense in every category. Lock and load in all formats. Framber Valdez FD - P 9700 DK - RP 9900 Opponent - MIN (Griffin Jax) Park - HOU FD - 29.32 DK - 15.34 Valdez is a little more expensive than Gray on both sites but still under $10K and has an equally good matchup as the biggest favorite(-275) on the slate. He faces a Twins team that has been mid-pack since the All-Star break and has dropped seven of their last 10 games and could be without Josh Donaldson for a sixth straight game. For Valdez, he got a late start to the season but has made up for lost time with a 7-2 record, 3.01 ERA, and 3.66 xFIP in 12 starts. Like Gray, he is in play in all formats and I personally love pairing them together on DraftKings which keeps us below $20 combined. Catcher/First Base Joey Votto FD 4400 DK 5700 Opponent - PIT (Wil Crowe) Park - PIT FD - 12.03 DK - 9.03 First base is loaded and I wouldn't blame you for going either of them tonight but I lean Votto as that $500 discount Vladdy could easily come into play on DraftKings. While Votto isn't on the same MVP trajectory, he has been arguably the hottest bat since the ASB hitting .328 with a .511 wOBA and nearly set an MLB record with home runs in seven straight. Combine the red-hot form with a great matchup vs. the Pirates and Wil Crowe(5.40 ERA/4.85 XFIP) and you have a core play for all formats. Andrew Vaughn FD 2800 DK 2900 Opponent - KC (Daniel Lynch) Park - KC FD...

Pitchers Lucas Giolito FD 9200 DK 10600 Opponent - KC (Carlos Hernández) Park - KCFD - 40.6 DK - 22.02 There are a couple of ace-level pitchers going on this slate making for some interesting decisions about where to spend on arms. Giolito is a -245 home favorite against the Royals who rank 26th in team wOBA this season. They don’t strike out a ton, but they are a weak-hitting bunch. Meanwhile, while the K stuff is down a little bit this season he is still one of the better arms in the game, striking out about 10.5 batters per nine and walking fewer than three. I like the FanDuel price point especially and he has some of the best win odds on the slate. Shohei Ohtani FD - P 10700 DK - SP 9500 Opponent - TEX (Kolby Allard) Park - TEXFD - 40.03 DK - 21.39 What can you say about the season Ohtani has had? It has simply been amazing with the only real negative being that the Angels have struggled and Mike Trout hasn’t been around all that much to see if because of injury. While the 3.05 is running better than his 3.65 xFIP, this is still a guy striking out close to 12 batters per nine on the year. He faces the Rangers on the road as a -155 favorite with a 8 o/u. Texas sold off its biggest bat at the deadline and this is a compromised lineup, to say the least. Have to love Ohtani on this main slate. Jameson Taillon FD - P 8000 DK - SP 10200 Opponent - BAL (Matt Harvey) Park - NYYFD - 35.42 DK - 18.72 He is pitching in Yankee Stadium which isn’t all that great considering the short porch in right field, but he comes in as a great, -205 money line favorite against the Orioles in this one. Taillon has put down almost a batter an inning on strikes and kept the walks mostly under control. Baltimore is a bottom-third offense on the season while striking out 24% of the time as a team. I like Taillon as a DraftKings SP2 here. Lucas Giolito (FD $9200 DK $10600) Catcher/First Base Gary Sánchez FD 2800 DK 4400 Opponent - BAL (Matt Harvey) Park - BALFD - 13.64 DK - 10.07 Sanchez has a FanDuel price that just remains too cheap for his...

Pitchers Zack Wheeler FD 10700 DK 9700 Opponent - WSH (Patrick Corbin) Park - WSHFD - 44.01 DK - 24.29 Today is an interesting day for cash games because there is one ace-level arm but then also a ton of big money bats were are going to want to have in cash. It could make for som salary squeezing. But it is tough to fade Wheeler here who is a -169 road favorite against the Nationals who shipped off some key bats at the trade deadline. Wheeler has been excellent this season, dialing up the strikeouts to a career-best 10.6 K/9 rate, easily the highest of his career and it hasn’t come at the cost of control. He is the best pitcher on the slate. Adrian Houser FD 6800 DK 7600 Opponent - PIT (Max Kranick) Park - PITFD - 29.21 DK - 14.66 Houser isn’t anywhere close to the strikeout pitcher that Wheeler is, not by a longshot. But he does something else on an elite level and that is generate groundballs. Opponents are putting the ball on the ground 60% of the time against the righty which is helping him keep the ERA low despite the lack of high-end K upside. He is a -204 favorite against the lowly Pirates on this slate with the latter one of the worst offenses in the league this season. Dylan Cease (FD $8300 DK $8400) Catcher/First Base Gary Sánchez FD 2800 DK 4600 Opponent - BAL (Alexander Wells) Park - BALFD - 13.42 DK - 9.91 Sanchez has never been able to fully recreate his unreal rookie season, but he still remains a dangerous bat in the Yankees lineup. He has 17 home runs on the season and for his career has been batter against lefties with a 118 wRC+ and .347 wOBA in that split. He takes more walks against southpaws, though does strike out more in that platoon as well. No matter against Wells who doesn’t have swing and miss stuff in his repertoire. C.J. Cron FD 3800 DK 4000 Opponent - CHC (Zach Davies) Park - CHCFD - 14.43 DK - 10.87 You are going to see a lot of the same teams for these cash plays because two squads are just in much better shape than anyone else. Cron has been decent this season with an OPS up and around .800, striking out just 22%...

Pitchers Tylor Megill FD 8500 DK 9600 Opponent - MIA (Undecided) Park - MIA FD - 34.87 DK - 18.14 The week gets started with a small slate and an even smaller selection of pitchers but one that jumps off the page is rookie Tyor Megill. The Mets rookie has been brilliant through seven starts with a 2.04 ERA on three plus pitches in a fastball, slider, and changeup. That changeup is creating a 41% swing rate at balls outside the zone and a wild 22% swinging-strike rate(see video below). Tonight the 1st place Mets face the last-place Marlins who rank as a bottom-five offense in almost every category since the All-Star break. The price is creeping up there but all things considered including the limited options, I will have exposure to Megill in all formats. Tylor Megill, Wicked Changeups. 🤢 pic.twitter.com/xQkcOAk9ba — Rob Friedman (@PitchingNinja) July 29, 2021 Andrew Heaney FD 7600 DK 8600 Opponent - BAL (Jorge López) Park - BAL FD - 34.79 DK - 18.51 You know it's a limited pitching slate when Andrew Heaney makes the article so make sure to load up on your antacids if watching the game. On a serious note, he is coming off two plus starts allowing the Rockies and Twins just four hits each while striking out 15 which was then rewarded by a trade to the Yankees who loaded up for bear on offense. His first start in pinstripes comes against the Orioles as a -240 favorite and at his price on both sites, is my favorite PTS/$ play on the mound. Catcher/First Base Anthony Rizzo FD - 1B 4400 DK - 1B 4700 Opponent - BAL (Jorge López) Park - NYY FD - 13.94 DK - 10.43 Rizzo was a part of the Yankees trade deadline additions and has fit right in and already setting records. He reached base in each of his first eight at-bats and finished the series against the Marlins 5 for 9 with two walks, two home runs, three RBI, and five runs scored. He now gets a matchup against a struggling pitcher who has given up 4+ earned runs in six of his last nine starts. He isn't a must-play on FanDuel who has caught up to the new situation but on DraftKings, he is easily my top play at first base tonight. Josh Bell FD 3100 DK 4500 Opponent - PHI (Ranger...

Pitchers Adam Wainwright FD - P 9700 DK - SP 9600 Opponent - MIN (Michael Pineda) Park - STLFD - 35.4 DK - 18.54 AdamWainwright is having a little bit of a turn back the clock season this time around, striking out more batters than he ever has in his career, sporting the best xFIP (3.79) he’s seen in the last seven seasons. It is a nice story for the 39-year-old who was starting to look a bit cooked. Now he’s facing the Twins who sold some pieces off and are in rebuild mode off a younger lineup. I think he’s a solid play at these prices and the matchup is a good one. This is a rough day for pitching and we are going to have to take what we can get. Jordan Montgomery FD - P 8000 DK - SP 7400 Opponent - MIA (Undecided) Park - MIAFD - 29.73 DK - 15.51 Speaking of taking what we can get, Montgomery is a good, not great option here, but that is kind of the story with everyone on the slate. The good news is he gets a choice matchup against the lowly Marlins who rank second-to-last in the league in team wOBA and don’t have much in the way of getting better for the rest of the season. They strike out 26% of the time as a team and Montgomery is putting down about a batter an inning. When lines release for this game (they haven’t yet) he should be a big favorite. José Berríos (FD $9000 DK $8600) could end up being a big money line favorite in his first start with the Blue Jays. Kyle Gibson (FD $9000 DK $6900) is in a great spot against the lowly Pirates. Catcher/First Base Pete Alonso FD - 1B 3800 DK - 1B 5600 Opponent - CIN (Vladimir Gutierrez) Park - NYMFD - 13.68 DK - 10.16 The Mets have made some improvements to their lineup and could start causing some real damage going forward. On Sunday they get Vladimir Gutierrez who is among the worst regular starters in the game, sporting a 5.75 xFIP through 60+ innings this season with a putrid 1.5:1 K:BB ratio. Alonso hasn’t been able to recreate his rookie season numbers, but he is still a deadly hitter with a mid-800s OPS and 23 home runs in 374 plate appearances. We aren’t...
