Daily Fantasy Soccer Picks for the UEFA Champions League - DraftKings 4/12/16 Editor's note: Welcome Rob Banner who'll be covering Soccer (Football to all you Non-Americans) for us. Really excited to have him on board and you can give him a Twitter follow @RobBanner_ The second legs of the Champions League Quarter Finals get underway on Tuesday and all four ties are nicely poised. On Tuesday, Manchester City host PSG after an enthralling 2-2 draw in the first leg and Real Madrid must overcome a 2-0 deficit against Wolfsburg if they’re to make the semi-finals. The following evening, the Champions League favourites, Barcelona will look to secure their place in the semi-finals after beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 at the Nou Camp last week and Benfica will attempt to do the unthinkable and overturn a 1-0 deficit against Bayern Munich. First of all, he features in a match which he is likely to win and this is important because goalkeepers receive five points for a victory. Goalkeepers also receive five points for keeping a clean sheet, and for a side competing in the Champions League, Atletico Madrid are far from prolific goal-scorers. Furthermore, goalkeeper loses two points each time they conceded a goal, therefore it is crucial to select a keeper who is unlikely to concede. Manuel Neuer – DK $4,500 Opponent – Benfica Manuel Neuer is one of the more pricey goalkeepers available in this slate and rightly so. Bayern Munich face the weakest team remaining in the competition and there’s a very good chance that they win this match. Moreover, there’s also a very good chance that they keep a clean sheet, which would earn Manuel Neuer an extra five points. Bayern Munich won the opening leg of this tie 1-0 and similar scoreline would be far from surprising as Benfica are far from prolific in front of goal.   Defenders Maxwell – DK 3,500 Opponent – Manchester City...

Daily Fantasy Soccer Picks for the English Premier League - DraftKings 4/9/16 Editor's note: Welcome Rob Banner who'll be covering Soccer (Football to all you Non-Americans) for us. Really excited to have him on board and you can give him a Twitter follow @RobBanner_ The Premier League season is drawing to a close, there are just six gameweeks remaining, but there’s still lots to play for. Leicester City look like they may do the unthinkable and win the Premier League title, although Tottenham and Arsenal aren’t giving up just yet. The two Manchester sides are locked in battle as both teams look to secure the 4th Champions League spot and it’s very tight towards the bottom of the table, although, Aston Villa are already doomed. Anyway, onto my recommendations for Saturday’s EPL slate which will hopefully provide some opportunities to make a profit. Playing other daily fantasy sports like NBA or NHL? Goalkeepers Joe Hart – DK $3,800 Opponent – West Brom After missing Manchester City’s last fixture, Joe Hart’s price has plummeted to $3,800 and probably would’ve been valued at $4,500 had he featured versus Bournemouth in their last Premier League outing. Thus making the English number one, the best option in the goalkeeping position this weekend. Furthermore, Hart faces relatively poor opposition at home, in the form of West Brom. This is significant, because goalkeepers receive five points for a victory and five if they keep a clean sheet and of all the teams featuring in Saturday’s slate, Manchester City are the most likely side to win to nil. Artur Boruc – DK $3,700 Opponent – Aston Villa Onto another goalkeeper who has an easy fixture, Artur Boruc. The Bournemouth keeper faces the worst side in the Premier League, Aston Villa. Villa have only scored 22 goals all season, that’s fewer than any other side, and therefore Boruc has a good chance of keeping a clean sheet. Moreover, Villa sit bottom of the Premier League and have loss 22 of their 32 games this campaign, thus making Bournemouth the strong favourites to win this match. As I’ve mentioned above, this is significant, because goalkeepers receives five points for a victory and...

Daily Fantasy Soccer Picks for the UEFA Champions League - DraftKings 4/5/16 Editor's note: Welcome Rob Banner who'll be covering Soccer (Football to all you Non-Americans) for us. Really excited to have him on board and you can give him a Twitter follow @RobBanner_ The first leg of the Champions League quarter finals get underway in midweek and there are some excellent games taking place. Spanish sides, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid meet up at the Nou Camp on Tuesday, whilst Bayern Munich have the easiest fixture of the week against Benfica. On Wednesday, the only English side remaining in the competition, Manchester City face PSG and Wolfsburg are the underdogs against Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid. We've got you completely covered.   Goalkeepers Marc-Andre ter Stegen – DK $4,200 Opponent – Atletico Madrid The way scoring works, it is crucial to have a good goalkeeper and Marc-Andre ter Stegen gives us that at a fair price. Goalkeepers receive five points if their side wins and another five if they keep a clean sheet. Furthermore, they lose two points every time they concede a goal, therefore it is crucial to select a goalkeeper whose side is likely to win the match and preferably keep a clean sheet. Ter Stegen’s faces Atletico Madrid on Tuesday and there’s over a 65% chance that Barcelona win the match. It should also be noted that Atletico Madrid are a poor side going forward, particularly for a team that’s challenging for the title. Kevin Trapp – DK $4,000 Opponent – Manchester City PSG goalkeeper, Kevin Trapp is a slightly cheaper alternative to ter Stegen, but nevertheless he’s another good option, mainly for the reasons I’ve mentioned above. PSG are expected to beat Manchester City at the Parc des Princes. They’ve got a 57.8% chance of winning the match and this would earn Trapp an extra 5 points. Moreover, Manchester City have struggled for goals in recent weeks, they went three Premier League games without a goal before thrashing Bournemouth at the weekend.   Defenders Marquinhos – DK 3,000 Opponent – Manchester City Marquinhos is the best value defender available in this slate in my opinion. The PSG defender will play...

Daily Fantasy Soccer Picks for the English Premier League - DraftKings 4/2/16 Editor's note: Welcome Rob Banner who'll be covering Soccer (Football to all you Non-Americans) for us. Really excited to have him on board and you can give him a Twitter follow @RobBanner_ The Premier League returns on Saturday after an international break and there are seven games taking place in Saturday’s 3pm slate, which has some big prizes up for grabs. Top of the table, Leicester City do not feature until Sunday, when they host Southampton and they’ll be looking to cement their place at the top of the table. Tottenham and Arsenal will be doing their best to close the gap on the Foxes and both sides feature in this slate. Playing other daily fantasy sports like NBA, MLB or NHL? Goalkeepers Petr Cech – DK $3,500 Opponent – Watford At the time of writing, it looks like Petr Cech will start in goal against Watford, therefore he is a must have at $3,500. Cech is being massively undervalued because he’s been out injured for nearly a month, but he is set to return to the starting eleven on Saturday. The Arsenal goalkeeper offers excellent value because they are at home against Watford and goalkeepers receive five points if their side wins and five points if they keep a clean sheet. Arsenal are the most likely winners of all 14 sides competing in Saturday’s 3pm slate and as a result, Petr Cech is the best value goalkeeping option. Shay Given – DK $2,500 Opponent – Swansea City Shay Given is without a doubt the second best goalkeeping option behind Petr Cech this weekend. Given hasn’t played much football this season but Jack Butland is out injured and subsequently the Irishman is set to start his first Premier League game of the season. As I’ve mentioned above, the five bonus points for a victory and five for a clean sheet are crucial as far as the goalkeeping position is concerned. Stoke City host Swansea of Saturday in what is a very winnable game. Swansea are a very poor side, they sit 15th in the Premier League table in comparison with Stoke who are 8th. Furthermore, Swansea are very poor going forward,...

Daily Fantasy Soccer Picks for the English Premier League - DraftKings 3/19/16 Editor's note: Welcome Rob Banner who'll be covering Soccer (Football to all you Non-Americans) for us. Really excited to have him on board and you can give him a Twitter follow @RobBanner_ The full Premier League fixture list returns this weekend and Saturday’s slate looks like it’ll provide a great opportunity to profit. There are five games to choose from and non-more important than Leicester City’s visit to Selhurst Park, as Claudio Ranieri’s side look to extend their lead at the top of the table. Playing other daily fantasy sports like NBA or NHL? We've got you completely covered.   Goalkeepers Jack Butland – DK 3,300 Opponent – Watford I was relatively surprised to find that Jack Butland was one of the cheapest options in goal. The Stoke City goalkeeper has averaged a very respectable 8 points per game this season and has a nice fixture against Watford this weekend. Goalkeepers receive five points for a victory and five for keeping a clean sheet, and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if we saw Butland pick up all ten points. Stoke are the better of the two sides and Watford have only scored 29 goals all season, only Newcastle and Aston Villa have scored fewer. All in all, Butland are a great cheap option in goal in Saturday’s slate at just $3,300. Ben Foster – DK 3,900 Opponent – Norwich City Ben Foster isn’t my first choice option in goal but he’s a good alternative to Jack Butland and you can make the argument he’s worth the extra $600. Foster has averaged 9 points per game this season, which is better than any goalkeeper who will start in this slate. The Englishman also has a good fixture against Norwich who are one of the worse sides in the Premier League. They’re 18th in the table, they’ve only scored 31 goals all season, and therefore this good be a good match up to draft Ben Foster at a reasonable price.   Defenders Geoff Cameron– DK 2,800 Opponent – Watford Stoke City’s first choice right back, Glen Johnson is out injured, as is second choice right back, Phil...

Daily Fantasy Soccer Picks for the Uefa Champions League - DraftKings 3/15/16 Editor's note: Welcome Rob Banner who'll be covering Soccer (Football to all you Non-Americans) for us. Really excited to have him on board and you can give him a Twitter follow @RobBanner_ Last week Real Madrid, PSG, Wolfsburg and Benfica booked their places in the Champions League quarter finals and four more teams will do the same this week. The four matches taking place should make for a good slate and provide an opportunity to make a profit. On Tuesday, Atletico Madrid face PSV and Dynamo Kiev will travel to England to play Manchester City. A day later, the Champions League favourites Barcelona host Arsenal at the Nou Camp and Bayern Munich host the Italian champions, Juventus. Playing other daily fantasy sports like NBA or NHL? We've got you completely covered.   Goalkeepers Jan Oblak – DK 3,900 Opponent – PSV There are a number of good options in goal in this slate, but Jan Oblak offers the best value at $3,900. The Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has averaged 9.5 points per game, but I suspect he can outscore his average against PSV, who are the worst team remaining in the competition. As I’ve alluded to in my previous previews, goalkeepers receive five points if their side win and five points if they keep a clean sheet. There’s a very good chance that Oblak receives both sets of five points, because Atletico Madrid are the overwhelming favourites to win this match. According to the bookmakers odds (which tend to be very accurate), there’s a 54% chance that Atletico Madrid beat PSV and keep a clean sheet. Oleksandr Shovkovskiy – DK 3,100 Opponent – Manchester City A cheaper alternative to Jan Oblak in goal is Dynamo Kyiv goalkeeper, Oleksandr Shovkovskiy who costs just $3,100. Manchester City come into this fixture with a 3-1 lead and I suspect they’ll defend this lead, therefore Shavkovskiy may be a wise choice in goal. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are also struggling to score goals at the moment, they failed to score against one of the worse sides in the Premier League on Saturday, Norwich. Personally, I’ll be fielding Oblak in my side but...
