Eleven drivers enter this weekend with a win under their belt with just 10 of them locked in to the Chase. Tony Stewart's win will only get him in if he finishes inside the Top 30 in points. he is currently sitting 28th with a 13 point cushion on David Ragan in the 30th position. Assuming Tony gets in, that leaves five open positions left for the field to fight over. Chase Elliot, Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon, Jamie McMurray and Dale Earnhardt Jr. currently hold down those final five spots in that order and that brings us to this week. Dale Jr. will miss a second race in a row with concussion symptoms which isn't a good sign for his Chase hopes but opens a huge door for Trevor Bayne, Ryan Blaney, Kasey Kahne and Kyle Larson who sit on the outside looking in. The biggest news of the week is the return of Jeff Gordon who will be behind the wheel of the #88 this weekend and next weekend at Pocono. It is going to be an exciting sprint to the finish as summer comes to a close. This week NASCAR travels to the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the "Crown Royal presents The Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard". Long name but a terrific cause. For short I will refer to it as the Brickyard 400 for the rest of the article. Indianapolis is a 2.5 mile oval superspeedway that is unique from Talladega and Daytona in that is much flatter with...

The "big one" happened around lap 90 and affected many drivers including Harvick, Kenseth, Elliott, Johnson, Menard, Truex Jr., Kahne, Patrick, Newman and Biffle. If you played Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski with a mix of low end guys you were probably very profitable. Brad dominated at the front leading 115 laps and spent of 95% of the race inside the Top 15. It was crazy at the bottom where many bottom tier drivers finished with Top 20's including Trevor Bayne(3rd), Michael McDowell(10th), Cole Whitt(11th), Casey Mears(12th), David Ragan(16th) and David Gilliland(19th). Time to move on to a more stable environment and back to some mile and half tracks. This week NASCAR heads to Sparta, Kentucky for the Quaker State 400. Kentucky Speedway has been a part of the circuit for just five years and has already seen a major renovation. This weeks race will be the first race on the new surface and the track also reconstructed turn 1 and turn 2. It will be very important this week to pay close attention the practice speeds to see who is getting an early handle on the track. I will definitely weigh track history but not as much as other tracks. I will put much more weight on current form and practice speeds this week. Let jump in to some picks! Early on the story was Carl Edwards and AJ Allmendinger who started 1st/2nd and battled for close to half the race. The race got really exciting when the battle turned to Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart who battled right up until the final stages of the final lap. The lead slipped away from Tony who somehow got it back later on the final lap and got that coveted win he will need to get into the Chase(along with a Top 30 finish in standings). Now we move from the craziness of a road course to the high speeds of Daytona and superspeedway racing. If you missed the final lap be sure to check it out below in the video from NASCAR: This week NASCAR heads back to Daytona Beach for the Coke Zero 400 from Daytona International Speedway. That's right another plate race and that means Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be the most mentioned and highest priced driver this week. Oh ya, he is also the defending race winner of the Coke Zero 400 after starting and dominating from the pole last July. The Daytona 500 this February was dominated by Toyota's as the Top 3 and four of the Top 5 finishing spots were occupied by Toyota drivers. Every race at a plate track seems to be different with almost every driver having a shot to contend for a win. For this reason I always label the plate tracks as great GPP opportunities, especially in a stars and scrubs type of strategy. That's right. Drivers are going to have to deal with hills, left and right hand turns, and a tons of shifting and braking. Kyle Busch returns as the defending race winner where he picked up his first win after coming back from injury. This has been a track where underdogs have a fighting chance which is going to be key as there are several drivers looking to grab that win and lock themselves into the Chase. There has been a different winner in each of the last seven races. Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart are the only active drivers with multiple wins here at Sonoma. This will be a week where I limit my bankroll due to the added variability in road coarse racing. I will be playing almost exclusively GPP's with some added head to heads mixed in. Good luck everyone. Are looking to get better as fantasy NASCAR but don't have the time to conduct all the research necessary? Kurt and the #41 Stewart Haas Racing team picked up the win despite not having crew chief Tony Gibson available as he was suspended following the the previous race. It was also Kurt Busch's 12th Top 10 finish(leads all of NASCAR) in the first 14 races. On to next week. This week NASCAR heads to Brooklyn, Michigan for the FireKeepers Casino 400. Michigan International Speedway is a 2 mile D Shaped Oval and is classified as a Superspeedway. It is known for being the fastest non plate track on the and this will be the fist race here with the new down force package introduced at the beginning of the season. We are now 12 races from the Chase for the Sprint Cup playoffs and with nine drivers locked in with wins in 2016, that leaves seven spots up for grabs between the remaining drivers. Rookie Chase Elliott leads the non winners in points with 413 with Joey Logano(410) and Dale Earnhardt Jr.(381) not far behind him and all three are getting closer to getting that coveted win. Sitting on the bubble is Ryan Newman with 338 points with AJ Allmendinger(334), Kasey Kahne(325), Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(325), Trevor Bayne(319), and Kyle Larson(302) looking to climb in the top 16 in the next handful of races. It is going to be an exciting summer and future for NASCAR as so many young up and coming drivers are starting to become a fixture week in and week out. Click here to sign up Axalta We Paint Winners 400 Pocono Raceway - Long Pond, Pennsylvania Track - 2.5 Mile Tri Oval Superspeedway 6°-14° of Banking in the Corners It was a record setting performance this past Sunday as Martin Truex Jr. lead 392 of 400 laps as he picked up his first win of the 2016 season. Huge credit to the crew chief and team as they gave Truex an absolutely perfect car in a race where the track changed so much throughout the late afternoon and into the evening. Truex has been so close all season and it seemed almost everyone in NASCAR was pulling for the #78 on Sunday. The Top 10 in Sprint Cup Standing are now: #4 Kevin Harvick(457) #41 Kurt Busch(421) #48 Jimmie Johnson(409) #18 Kyle Busch(405) #19 Carl Edwards(404) #2 Brad Keselowski(404) #78 Martin Truex Jr.(381) #24 Chase Elliott(374) #22 Joey Logano(373) #20 Matt Kenseth(347) This week NASCAR heads to the "Tricky Triangle" better know as Pocono Raceway for the Axalta We Paint Winner 400. The track is a two and a half mile Tri Oval and is one of the most unique tracks on the circuit. It's shaped like a triangle with three completely different corners setup with different banking in each(14°,8°,6°). Teams will have to compromise their setups and it is nearly impossible to be great in all three turns. Four of the last five June Pocono races have seen one driver dominate the laps led with that driver starting inside the Top 4 each time. Qualifying becomes quite important for this reason. I will again be weighting qualifying, final practice and final practice 10 lap averages very highly this week. Stay tuned for the updates throughout the weekend leading up to the race. Let's take a look at some picks. I will again be selling a cheatsheet every week...
