TicketGuardian 500 ISM Raceway - Avondale, Arizona Track - One-Mile Intermediate It was another dominating performance from the #4 of Kevin Harvick last week in Las Vegas. He led 214 laps on his way to back to back wins and with those two wins and three stage wins, he now has 13 playoff points. To put that in perspective, Austin Dillon is second in that category with five playoff points and no other driver has two. It was also another week of struggles for the Chevy camp as only one(Kyle Larson #42) finished Top 10, however, Ryan Newman turned out to be a great value play finishing 11th after starting 25th. This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to ISM Raceway, formerly Phoenix Raceway. The track is currently under construction with a huge $178 Million dollar project underway, most notably adding grandstands around turn two where the drivers will notice the biggest change come fall. The start/finish line will be moved right in front of those new grandstands and the restart zone will be the first to be in a turn. It will definitely change the strategy for the playoff race here, adding to the many changes to this year's playoffs. From a fantasy perspective, picking out those one or two dominator drivers will be key as there has been at least one driver to lead 100 or more laps in each of the last six races with one driver leading 190 or more in three of those six races including last fall's race. The fast laps have been much more spread out as at least seven drivers have tallied double-digit fast laps in each of the last five races. Place differential will always be something to focus on but is much more dependant on qualifying. There have been four or five drivers to gain double-digit place differential in five of the last six races. Let's now take a look at some of the trends going into this weeks race. Last Six Winners at ISM Raceway(Phoenix) 2017 Fall - Matt Kenseth (started 7th, led 62 laps) 2017...

Pennzoil 400 Las Vegas Motor Speedway Track - 1.5-Mile D Shaped Oval Intermediate Things went pretty much as planned last week as Kevin Harvick continued to dominate the track but this time picked up the win. It was a very emotional win that was 17 years ago he picked up his first career win in Atlanta as he took over for Dale Earnhardt who was involved in a fatal the crash the week before and like he did back then, celebrated by waving three fingers our the window. This week the Monster Energy Cup Series travels across the country to kick off the West Coast swing starting at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Pennzoil 400. It will be the second straight mile and half track but the comparisons end there as Atlanta is one of the oldest abrasive surfaces on the circuit which destroys tires in a hurry. Las Vegas tends to have more grip also has its own uniqueness with the bumps. The other thing to note after last week's race was the performance of the Ford camp which finished 1, 2, 3 and had five of the Top 10 finishers while the new Chevrolet ZL1 appears to be a work in progress as Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott were the top finishers in 9th and 10th and Chevy's had just three inside the Top 15 on Sunday. It will be something to monitor moving forward. From a fantasy perspective, one thing is the same. We are looking to build a core around dominator points, especially if the race goes like last year where stage racing was introduced. There was only one driver(Aric Almirola) who picked up double-digit place differential points and when looking at dominators, only five drivers had double-digit fast laps and just two with 50+ laps led. Be sure to check out my video and cheatsheet for all the data following qualifying and practices. Let's now take a look at some of the trends going into this weeks race. Fold of Honor QuikTrip 500 Atlanta Motor Speedway Track - 1.5 Mile Intermediate I may be a bit biased as I attended Speedweeks in Daytona but the entertainment value was absolutely through the roof. From the Truck race where Johnny Sauter won to the Xfinity race that saw Tyler Reddick win by the closest margin in NASCAR history and finally the 60th running of the Daytona 500 where Austin Dillon in the iconic #3 car for Richard Childress Racing took home the win on the 20th anniversary of Dale Sr. winning there. It was also very special for me as Austin Dillon was my very first interview and I may now be a fan for life. Speaking of interviews, I also got to talk to Bubba Wallace who came in second this past weekend in his first race as a full-time Cup driver. Now the grind really begins as the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 this Sunday. It will be the first mile and a half race of the season and one of the driver's favorite tracks as the surface is one of the oldest in the sport where tires wear down quick and cars slide around making it a big challenge. After 20 years since its last repave, Atlanta was scheduled to have the work done following last seasons triple-header weekend but the drivers got together and pretty much begged track owner Bruton Smith to hold off. It worked and they decided to patch it for this season and so hopefully the hot weather forecast won't affect the surface or the racing in general. For fantasy, we completely flip our strategy from last week where we targeted place differential heavily. We now get back to dominator fantasy where we must really pay attention to practice speeds, especially 10-lap averages to help figure out who is going to lead laps and produce a ton of fast laps. I mean, just look at Kevin Harvick here at Atlanta. He has not won a race here in...
